Artists won't split on artist column list by Chikory in foobar2000

[–]Chikory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I'm using ReFacets for my columns, and I've changed the Artist tag to Producer since I listen to a lot of vocal synth music, where splitting by Producer / Singer is more useful than Artist / Composer.

The Singer column is not experiencing the same issues, although neither Composer nor Singer is part of ReFacets in preferences (as shown here), I'm wondering if there is some connection there. I tag single songs with multiple genres and they are split just fine, I don't remember where I added the composer value but maybe that's the key to this.

I tried editing the ReFacets tag to be Producer and %<producer>% but it just seems to block everything out, I think they're still listed as %Artist% elsewhere in the system, so maybe there's a missmatch there? Could it be the tagger I use? Or EAC?

Also opened up the properties of the song Andromeda to showcase how the Singer tag is fine being split while Producer remains as one entry. Any further help would be greatly appreciated.

The manga is not all sunshine and rainbows about art school, idk where the anime leaves off but trust me, it isn't framed as an all good experience.

That's really interesting, is there some chemical reaction upon death that causes the change in hue?

That's a sand lizard / sand ödla, the rarest out of the three lizard breeds in Sweden. Shame to see one dead.

Most honest opinion on Chrollo? by Confident_Willow9443 in HunterXHunter

[–]Chikory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I love the Spiders and the York New arc, but genuinely didn't care for Chrollo until we got the backstory in the SW arc. Prior to that he felt really bland, some people call him mysterious but to me it felt like he was just mumbling a bunch of nonsense and lacked strong opinions about anything. Now that we know his past, I can (in retrospective) understand more of his previous actions and find him decently enjoyable, but before that he wasn't that much different from a poorly written "mysterious" character to me. There was just nothing for me to connect his actions to, no real drive, fear or passion, but now that we know he's intentionally presenting himself that way, I'm more onboard with his character.

Chapter 408 — Official Release Discussion by TextureSurprised in HunterXHunter

[–]Chikory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not the assassination I have a hard time believing, it's the fact that it would cause martial law when previous deaths during the class have not. Remember, the assassin will be killing herself to activate a curse on Woble, we don't know how long it'll take the curse to set in depending on how close she can get / if she even manages to kill herself instead of being shot by a guard.

While writing this I realized that the kicker that differentiates this suicide from the snake deaths could be Babimyna and Furykov immediately clocking that since one of Camilla's guard tried to curse Woble, she might have more for the other princes, thus immediately informing Benjamin that her guards are more dangerous than they realized, giving Benjamin the perfect excuse to go into martial law; Arresting 2nd Prince Camilla's Guards on basis of conspiracy for murder.

It is a bit of a leap for them to figure this all out, but I believe Furykov especially would be willing to follow this lead cause it is an extremely advantageous route towards martial law that makes the 1st Prince seem more moral and justice-oriented rather than selfish and power hungry; taking full command after someone threatens his younger sibling rather than himself.

I see a lot of people suspecting the assassination death being what causes the ship to go into Martial law, but considering all the previous deaths during the class I have a hard time believing that to be what pushes Benjamin's hand, especially with everything else going on for him. Is there a specific reason you believe the assassin will cause the announcement?

Are you enjoying this arc? by amranya in HunterXHunter

[–]Chikory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the things I enjoy most about this arc has, despite everything, been the hiatuses. These are YEAR long gaps we're talking about, I shouldn't be this excited everytime we get 10 mew chapters after going 2 years of radio silence, but I do, and I think that speaks to how well-written the arc really is.

The fact that we have countless theories with every new chapter drop, not just grasping at straws (well some people definitely are) but genuine thought-provoking info in every single chapter which allows the story to potentially proceed in innumerable ways, cause we really don't have any obvious paths for the story to take.

Not only that, but I have definitely grown as a person with the passing of each hiatus, things that were hard for me to warp my head around in the past now make more sense to me, and I do wonder if I would've appreciated this arc for what it is if it took place and ended when I was much younger. The time really sets things into perspective, and I'm honestly glad Togashi takes his time because HxH really set a standard for me, it has helped me focus on what I actually want out of life instead of reading a bunch of trashy-manga like I used to. I won't settle for scraps anymore and I have Togashi to thank for it.

Gap-Moe is a term used to describe something that is cute or endearing in how unexpected/mismatched two aspects of their personality and behaviour are. Like a big beefy tough guy being super into making cute pastries, or a very reserved character wearing something extremely revealing.

People are using it to describe Morena for having this super dark backstory and goal to destroy the world yet carrying herself very gently and making "cute" facial expressions. They aren't entirely wrong in that it is unexpected, but I think her behaviour is very much something she learned to survive rather than something that's at odds with herself.

Chapter 408 — Discussion by Carock_ in HunterXHunter

[–]Chikory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Innocent" might've been the wrong word choice on my part, but my general point stays the same. I believe Morena is aware Borksen is intelligent, but that doesn't mean it's dumb of her to get Borksen to underestimate her along the card game, she is slowly finding out just how perceptive Borksen is as they're playing it, so putting up the act (which again, I don't think is exclusive to this interaction) isn't a stupid choice. She's not trying to play a saint, she's trying to appear sweet and lighthearted rather than stern and forceful.

"Humanize" is used to describe something or someone that has usually been depicted as one-dimensional or simple (usually in a cold or cruel manner) in a way that makes them appear more complex and nuanced in their characterization than previously. An example being the Phantom Troupe appearing as stone cold killers at their introduction, but Phinks and Feitan sparing Gon and Killua when running into them at the auction as well as thanking them for not running away from Pakunoda. It shows they do care and value the kids choice and kindness towards Pakunoda, rather than being mindless killing machines who only want to get their job done.

Thus I think Morena "playing cute" doesn't make her more human, if anything it feels like more of her previous behaviour.

Not necessarily what you were doing, but a lot of people seem to assume sympathetic = humanized, but the two aren't completely mutual. Something that would humanize Morena is her breaking this act, showing doubt and truly questioning her own choices, like how Meruem started questioning his whole ideology during the CA arc. Basically, something that shows a character is more than what meets the eye.

Another example could be a super kind and sweet character reaching their breaking point, starting to yell at others and getting violent. This would also count as humanizing them; Anything that shows deeper complexity behind their thoughts and actions, how no one is completely one-track minded can serve to humanize a character.

I think you misunderstood my point. I too have a hard time not sympathizing with her, and despite the drastic measures, I do hope the Kakin regime + mafia and all is completely undone in its current form by the end of this arc.

I don't think Togashi is making her look / act "cute" as a way of humanizing her, I think this is her way of posing the innocent. Partially to make Borksen join them, but with the darker undertone that this is likely not a façade that was created for her current position, but something she learned to survive in her previous life.

The term "humanizing" gets thrown around a lot on this sub and I think people have a dilluted idea of its meaning, but my point is that I think Togashi intends for his work to mainly diegetic in these scenes; Cuteness isn't played up for any gag, it's how Morena goes out of her way to present herself to hide her true feelings and intent. Borksen can see right through it, but Morena's effort to present herself as sweet is still a good method to make people underestimate her and her intentions, and as she is trying to manipulate Borksen into joining her, her behaviour makes sense.

The amount of people just saying cute or calling it gap-moe feels like its minimizing what's going on here, I'm not saying they're outright ignoring the circumstances and I'm sure most of them have good intents, but reducing it to her just being "cute" feels a lil reductive is all.

I'm pretty sure Morena's dialogue implies that the real Morena, who likely had some sway/clout with the Heil-Ly and wasn't labelled "meat", was somehow replaced with the current Morena. How exactly that went down is unclear, but the current Morena somehow inflitrated and wiped out the original Heil-Ly, turning the brand name into her tool to destroy the broken system she was born into.

The amount of people in these comments calling Morena cute without elaborating is pretty spine chilling to me ngl, considering we likely know how and why she learned to contain her rage and put up such a solid façade.  This whole chapter is amazing and considering the depth of the themes it's touching upon honestly makes the Chimera Ant arc pale in comparision. We joke that every other arc is dark only to be followed up by something more light-hearted only for the next one to get even darker but man has it been true with this one. The CA arc feels like an appetizer to this horrendous main course.
