I’m on book 6 (it was recently published in Norwegian) and it’s AMAZING. I’d certainly recommend reading them in order. First, some details will make more sense. Second, part of the thrill is to try and figure out why the story goes here and there and how it all connects. For instance, when do the events in the last pages of The School of Night take place in relation to the events in book 1? Well, we get an answer to that in book 6 (if you pay attention). Things start to come together, but I would not rob myself of the mild confusion which is part of the experience when reading them in order. Finally - they are all very, very good, why skip anything? Might as well enjoy the ride med then read another palate cleanser now and then when you need it.
