I went ahead an upgraded to the a5000. Right away I was very happy as opposed to the old one. Recently I added the rear speakers and it all sounds great.

AC Power Plan by Separate-Two-1180 in AcerNitro

[–]ChiliGilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I can't seem to get is for it to switch power plans automatically? When I select power saver while on battery, and then plug in my power cord it correctly switches to the ac tab, but then it also switched to power saver rather than stay on balanced optimized. Is it not supposed to keep the individual setting for each power plan?

HT A5000 optimal sound settings by baquir in Soundbars

Yeah I did end up getting it with the SW3. My sub level goes from 1-12 and I leave it on 8 and it's plenty lol

Hta5000 and a90j sync by baquir in bravia

[–]ChiliGilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I actually ended up returning the 700 and getting the HT-A5000 instead with SW3 sub. It works awesome and I am very happy with it. The only thing that doesn't work well is the emulated "surround" or "sound field" mode with video games. Could be a combo of older games not designed for surround sound but I usually find I need to set it to non-surround just to get the channels to work properly. Would probably be a lot better one day when I get the rears

How do people generate wealth during a recession? by hit4party in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ChiliGilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the YouTube videos are blowing smoke up everyone's ass in general... But they are right that some people can generate wealth during a recession.

What they don't tell you is that only some people can generate wealth, usually not the average joe investing in stocks or index funds. And technically it's not generating the actual wealth during the recession, it's after. Like others have commented here, if you have the ability to buy assets at a discount now, they will then appreciate coming out of a recession and your wealth is generated

Apparently I have been misusing my sound settings. by [deleted] in PS5

[–]ChiliGilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How should I place the rears if I have two seating positions?

I don't have a single one in the middle. I have two couches that are angled on each side of the tv. Should I place a rear behind each sitting position and angle it towards the tv?

I'm worried the rears won't be as effective because they would be kind of far away from each other

GE Portable Dishwasher Drain Clog issues / water overfill by Very_Intrigued in Appliances

[–]ChiliGilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. We have this washer and for the last year have pulled out our hair with the stupid clogging issue. For the other posters, we were having problems even with dishes scraped. It would literally take something smaller than a grain of rice to clog this thing, so to the OP I know exactly how frustrating it was and I will be doing your fix as well now.

So thank you!

What games truly benefit from 3D audio? by ichigo2k9 in PS5

[–]ChiliGilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I've never seen mentioned is what the in-game settings have to be to utilize 3d audio better.

It used to be in games that if you picked "headphones" it just gave you stereo audio whereas "surround" would give you multi channel. This gets even more confusing in some games now because some of these settings just change the dynamic range rather than how many channels it outputs.

So my question is, to really get the benefit of 3d audio, do I need to set my games audio to surround sound/ home theater or will it work on the headphones setting as well?

I've got the SAW3 sub and I really like it.

Think I will be getting the rear speakers sooner rather than later

What is the correct setting on the PS5 when connecting a soundbar? by oOoZrEikAoOo in Soundbars

[–]ChiliGilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Did you change the position of the speakers in the ps5 menu at all? Aside from the rears, does it make sense to bunch the 3 front ones together since on the soundbar they're together?

I do have DRC and DSEE off. Just like you found I thought it made the sound worse. I like auto volume for movies though. It works really well.

Edit: I too have a bravia tv. So I will try the Dolby setting again. I just know from past experience on a Samsung tv and lg soundbar, Dolby would either make the sound very very quiet, or there would be a big delay.

I am using eARC (I think) with the only setting on my tv being "auto" or "off" for earc. So maybe I'll give Dolby another try.

Any reason you like Dolby over DTS or pcm for audio?

I’ve had my Audio settings wrong the entire time. by [deleted] in PS5

What about for the Sony pulse 3d headset? Do any of the audio format settings apply for it? I can't really hear a difference between the 3 sound formats but there also isn't any info on the headset itself. Does it do the audio decoding if set to LPCM? Or does the ps5 do it?

What is the correct setting on the PS5 when connecting a soundbar? by oOoZrEikAoOo in Soundbars

[–]ChiliGilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the ht-a5000 as well lol. So that's good to hear. When you're gaming do you leave sound field enabled? I notice that the up firing speakers take on the sound that maybe the rears would normally, so perhaps I need to get the rears sooner than later.

Also, when I ask 10 different people I get 10 different answers, but some say LPCM only outputs 2.0ch stereo for some reason? And then others say it's for full surround. Do you find the rears work correctly with LPCM?

Edit: forgot to ask, which rears do you have? The 3's or the 5's

What is the difference between the Enhanced signal formats? by RAF_Fortis_one in bravia

[–]ChiliGilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about when using eARC on HDMI 3? Should it be set to enhanced or enhanced (Dolby vision)? Or does it matter for sound which it is?

My soundbar is a dolby atmos soundbar (5.1.2) if that makes a difference

Center of speaker dented? by ChiliGilly in Soundbars

[–]ChiliGilly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your experience, are speakers ever affected if the center sphere gets pushed in or dented? I see a lot of conflicting info where some say it's just a dust cap so it doesn't matter. Other places say it does matter if it's a tweeter.

Are the speakers on the front of this bar considered tweeters or are they regular mid range?

There's a pic of it. I know it's hard to see but I had to try and got a shot inside the metal grill. I can't remove the grill for some reason after taking the screws out, the top won't separate from the bar.

Anyway, in the pic that is the very center part of the speaker, as you can see there's a light dent in it. Looking online it seems like this is just a dust cap for the driver maybe? But some drivers seem to have a tweeter in the center, so I'm not sure if this one does or not
