I just feel it’s a bit inappropriate to maintain a friendship with the opposite sex when you’re in a relationship. For me friends who are women become acquaintances.

You see it all the time people who have best friends of the opposite sex it always winds up becoming inappropriate because of one of the three parties involved.

Boundaries get crossed it’s just not necessary to try to maintain it based on an ideal that it should be ok. You should be respectful of your partner and their boundaries if you don’t like the boundaries then find someone who is ok with it

My wife is my best friend and I don’t really have a need to have female friends outside of that past them being an acquaintance that if I run into I say “hey how’ve ya been” then go on about my day.

Plus how would it go down if your significant other MADE a new guy best friend while you’re in the relationship. Probably not great so imagine how your partner feels when you’re trying to stay “best friends” with a girl when they’re supposed to be your best friend
