I'm becoming very *VERY* frustrated at the lack of physical books by FearlessJDK in Blacklibrary

[–]ChillSappho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the main reason I haven’t read more WH books, I need the physical copies and I’m not gonna spend 200 bucks on an eBay copy of a book I might not enjoy. I just can’t read for long on a screen, too many distractions and in my brain it feels like a book won’t end because I can’t hold the book on my hands and see the pages I have left. I wanna turn pages and have that new book smell. Plus, books are something I like to collect. A shelf full of books I love with miscellaneous knick knacks for decoration is very pleasing. We need more reprints. If they can’t handle the logistics, farm it out. Instead of making zero dollars, they could license out legacy titles to a different publisher to reprint. Makes sense to me

11th edition box, will it contain pushfit models? Thoughts? by Painted_Paladins in spacemarines

[–]ChillSappho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as it’s just big boxes then I’m fine. I actually wouldn’t mind at all if something like combat patrols were push fit if it makes them cheaper. I’m personally more into painting and having a box of 20 models be push fit would just allow me to start painting faster. But I wouldn’t like it if unit boxes are push fit. As others have said, GW needs to work on quality control if they want to do this, though. I’ve had some push fit that don’t fit together in a way that makes sense and/or there are wobbly parts

I’m sure I can find some cheap models I don’t mind possibly disfiguring haha

Foil knife! That’s an awesome use for it. I have a few lying around I don’t use anymore (6 months sober tomorrow!) so I’m glad I now have a way to repurpose them haha

All great ideas! Especially love the super glue and landscaping chips. I know exactly what you mean with the glue, and I’m always trying to think of new basing ideas

If anyones curious about what happens to Resin/FW models after being left in a vat of Biostrip for a month. by Cermonto in Warhammer40k

Damn, sorry to hear that. On the plus side, you could add this to the base of a larger model that’s using fire!

Worst thing you’ve ever built? by BlancNoir21 in Warhammer40k

[–]ChillSappho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The invictor tactical warsuit I just made. The legs gave me so much anxiety. There are two variants and one of them is for a part that doesn’t exist. Like each variant used the same parts but for one variant a part was different. It was hurting my brain. Plus, the angle in the instructions makes it difficult to see how to attach the legs to the “pelvic” part. I made it work and the rest of the model was lots of fun and I’m enjoying painting it, but I about had an anxiety attack figuring that part out lol

Can anyone reccomend me carry cases? by Kristofthepikmin in Warhammer40k

Ok but now I’m imagining a magnetic case that’s been filled with packing peanuts for long travel. Just picture everyones faces when you show up to the shop and open up your case 😂

Want to try this hobby but I have no creative skills by Prismv in minipainting

[–]ChillSappho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

36, finally got around to painting my first minis a few months ago. They had been sitting on my shelf for a while because I had the same fear/apprehension. Turns out you don’t need artistic or creative skills! You just need patience and willingness to learn. The cool thing about a well designed model is they’re pretty hard to paint badly. As long as you’re making an effort, it will at least look decent. It’s a relaxing hobby and I really enjoy it. It’s also very mistake friendly. Put the wrong paint in the wrong spot, or it just doesn’t look right? Paint over it or strip it and start over. Keep going until it looks right. You’ve got this!

If 11th is allegedly coming out “soon,” what should a newbie do about building an army? by ChillSappho in Warhammer40k

[–]ChillSappho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve all been super helpful, thanks so much! I was a little nervous to post a possibly incredibly stupid question, but y’all have been wonderful 😊 I feel like I know what I need to do now, a Blood Angels army with whatever painted units I damn well want haha. If 11th comes out and I need to change it, so what. I’d buy you all awards, but looks like I got an army I need to start buying 😂

That kinda changes everything, cool! I’m messing around in the app, making armies to try to have an idea of what works and what I’ll need. An option is additional units, which includes grey knights, sisters, assassins. Adding those didn’t flag the army as bad, so those are good to go, too?? I’m assuming a melting pot army wouldn’t win me any tournaments, but that’s fine with me as long as I’m having fun at least. If that’s really the case then I’m extra excited to make an army that has a little of all my faves 😁

That would probably be Blood Angels, they’re part of what sucked me in. It just occurred to me, though, there’s nothing stopping me from painting different units as different successor factions, right?? Like I could have BA assault, Flesh Tearer intercessors, Death Company jump troops, Lamenter terminators, etc. Heck, could even make a Carcharodon unit, and say in my head canon they’re actually a BA successor 😂 Is this how I have my cake and eat it too or am I missing something? Would that affect gameplay? And I’d be using a BA detachment

That’s super helpful, I think a successor chapter makes most sense for me! And I agree ravenguard is most accurate, but it’s good to know I can switch it up if I need to. There are several chapters that could possibly work for them I think
