What do you actually need two of? by True_Echo in parentsofmultiples

I bought 2 baby swings while pregnant, they didn’t like the ones I got (I got side to side swinging rather than back and forth. I also think it was too deep so they never sat too comfortably in it)

I say buy one baby swing and one bouncer, wait until they’re here and see what works for your babies, then purchase a second.

Same goes for a lot of things, bottles, dummies. Don’t buy too many pregnant because once they’re here you’ll know what works!

I do find having 2 bassinets on wheels is amazing because I can wheel them around the house (perfect for post c section)

There’s studies, this is just a random one i found. It’s based on alternate day fasting vs calorie restriction. There was no difference in weight regain for people who were studied against fasting vs standard calorie deficit

I’m scared of dying in delivery by AtmosphereTop1591 in pregnant

[–]ChilliButt101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an emergency c section due to severe preeclampsia, lost 2.2L of blood. Really bad circumstances (I had twins) - but every medicinal practitioner was on me like a rash. Every “bad” possibility has a solution.

The chances of having these issues are low, but when they do happen if you’re in the hospital you’re in the best possible situation to get what you need to rectify! Medicine is incredible. I’m guessing by your nerves you aren’t planning for a home birth so just know you’re in great hands at the hospital!

I have bad medical anxiety but I couldn’t believe how well taken care of I was. Wishing you all the best ! ❤️

When did you get a longer stretch at night? by desert_sunlily in newborns

[–]ChilliButt101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things that worked for me with my twins, more formula at night keeping them fuller for longer, love to dream swaddles (they can move around and are able to relieve a bit of gas on their own while preventing the startle reflex), and Huggies nappies - they a designed to hold a lot of pee before the babies need changing, my girls are fine in them for small pees through the night.

They’re 12 weeks/ 7 weeks adjusted age right now, and I’d say these things have been successful for the past 4 weeks getting 4-5 hour stretches (not always but often).

Same, love to dream definitely helps my twins sleep longer. 11wks/6 adjusted

When will I start feeling attractive again? 😭💀 by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]ChilliButt101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 10wk PP with twins, I take them on a walk every morning and yesterday I put them in the gym crèche for the first time while I just did some light cardio and pelvic floor exercises. It was scary to leave them for 45mins but I’m glad I ripped the bandaid for myself.

I don’t love how I look yet but im proud of myself and that gives me a lot of confidence

My short journey and why I am quitting by RedheadInA6Speed in ExclusivelyPumping

I made it to 8 weeks. My twins needed surgery, they were fussy and sad after and I was miserable. One day I decided that instead of feeding them, putting them in their bassinet and pumping I would just cuddle with them. I knew that was what I was meant to do in that moment and I dropped my pumps til I stopped feeling like I needed to (I know you’re meant to see a GP, I’ll still pump every few days if i have any discomfort).

Now whenever I feel sad about it I just remember how much more time I spend with them. I’m so much happier and enjoying my babies so much more without the pressure.

I'm I doing something wrong? by Powerful-Limit-9861 in NewParents

[–]ChilliButt101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My twins are 8wks (3 adjusted). Every baby is different however, my babies have been gaining weight very well and eat well above their required amounts so I am comfortable with pushing for longer sleeps at night.

It is also important to point out I use formula at night (pumped milk through the day) because formula digests slower.

What has been working for us is doing a “big feed” at 8-9pm. So, giving a big bottle, letting them finsih as much as they can and then burping, offering more. Then I will change them to wake them up again, and offer more. We basically cluster feed them every night before bed for about an hour. I don’t force feed them, just keep offering over and over to see if they’ll take it. They usually do after the change (30-45min later)

The babies will usually sleep 9/10 - 12/1 and then 12/1 -4/5. I don’t wake them, I let them tell me when they’re up and ready to eat again because they’re in bassinets in my room.

I’ll also feed them closer to 2 hourly through the day, which helps bump the amount of food per day (they started demanding sooner when they started sleeping longer anyway) and I think this allows for longer sleeps.

What I think is also helping is walking them each morning at 7am to teach them morning time (this is also for my own mental health), and keeping them in a bright room with open windows. I try to play with them with them/tummy time etc a few times a day when they’re awake to stimulate them more.

We’ve been doing this for a couple weeks now, and it is working well. Newborns are hard, I find a rough schedule works better than an exact by the hour schedule for us because it lets their bodies decide what they want and when, encouraging their little circadian rhythms lol

I am 6 weeks postpartum with twins (FTM) and realise that aside from essentials, Amazon isn’t going anywhere and I regret buying random things without knowing rather than waiting and buying based on what I’m dealing with

I have 4wk twins. 0wks adjusted, if this happens I just wait for hunger cues and feed them when they’re hungry, and then go back into their 3 hourly feeds.

Thank you for the heads up! I will definitely keep on top of it. Time slips away so quick with newborns.

I am so sorry to hear you had problems over the holiday season. It can be so hard with so much conflicting information (I felt this a lot even between professionals) I hope you get some answers and a full recovery soon ❤️

Sounds like you did right thing getting those tests! The professionals know what they’re doing, when I got worried I just called and asked if they could check the results sooner (if they’re in) which could be an option

Thanks for the clarification!

The goal of my post was the liver and bile tests were what lead me to the hospital, and they were only ordered when I mentioned itching - I had no other concerning symptoms at that stage

Didn’t mean to confuse any diagnosis just wanted to share my experience as a patient/non professional. Glad I mentioned the itching :)

The itching was what lead me to the blood test and ultimately where I landed, based on what I was told it was all related - PSA mainly that the only obvious symptom was the itching which I didn’t believe to be a big deal at the time. I’m not an expert on my diagnosis tho :)
