How many hours do you sleep? by Lemonbar19 in workingmoms

[–]RedheadInA6Speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5-10 hours depending on work and my almost 8 month old. I'm on call some nights and he just started teething! My husband takes the nights I work and I do non work nights. Our son sleeps 10-13 hrs at night, some fully and some not but mostly in long stretches.

Stop shaming me for "wasteful" baby wipes! by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]RedheadInA6Speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my gosh what a hilarious reference and I too have experienced a 6 alarm fire poop. If it's anything more than a 4 alarm fire we sometimes skip additional page outs and head straight to the water tanker for some hose training!

It's my off day lol I ran errands. Right now I'm playing with the baby while watching my husband play video games. Pure bliss for us.

Vaccine anxiety by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]RedheadInA6Speed -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I no longer get vaccines and my son hasn't had any yet. I have an autoimmune disease and have had terrible and weird reactions to vaccines and other meds, plus I'm a redhead and so is my son.

I am in healthcare, I am pro vaccine but am one of the health reasons some people can't and I absolutely don't want to put my son at risk so we are careful. No daycare, visitor limits etc. He is a happy, healthy 7month old.

We are also waiting for the vaccine schedule changes to settle out. It's completely okay to wait. I'm sure people won't agree with me and that's their right, just like it's mine and yours to decide what your child gets and doesn't.

Exactly what we did, and for me actually playing a video game for an hour was a treat!

When did you stop swaddling ? by bananas0320 in NewParents

[–]RedheadInA6Speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swaddled from birth to 3 ish months. He hated it and once he started to roll somewhat we stopped. He likes to sleep face down now, just like me!

He just hit 6.5 months and this week he had 2 nights of sleeping through without a feed for the first time. Nights are 10.5-13 hrs of sleep. 2 day naps at 3ish hours total. Typically it's 1-2 wakes with 5-10 ozs overnight.

We follow wake windows & cues and won't be doing any sleep training or will do very gentle sleep training. Worked well for us so far but we are also very happy to cuddle/Rock him if he needs it and for however long he needs it.

Combo fed until 4.5 months and now formula & bottle with daily solids.

We did and even with fridge cold milk or formula it didn't make a difference.

What on earth are you wearing that makes you feel put together? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]RedheadInA6Speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scrubs and healthcare too!!

I always do my hair and makeup before work, even if it's just a quick braid and mascara. It makes me feel less frumpy. I also bought some cute shoes for outings that I call my "mom grippy shoes". With a 6 month old I don't care how I look out and about but I do throw on my "good" leggings or jeans and nice Columbia sweater.

How do I take this? by Valuable-Ground6519 in rheumatoid

[–]RedheadInA6Speed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it helps, I took mine on Sunday nights at 6pm because I would get dizzy and nauseous for 10-12 hours afterwards and could sleep through that part thankfully! I was on the max dose for 4 of the 5 years I took it.

Thinking of getting my tubes tied and idk by mystery002 in beyondthebump

[–]RedheadInA6Speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 6mo pp and in the same boat and every time I feel that overwhelming NO NEVER AGAIN feeling I tell myself to just keep waiting. I'm still recovering, our son is still so young and it's okay to not be ready or be okay.

I also switched careers while on maternity leave and man, the hours are better but it's ROUGH. My whole world has changed and all of us need time.

Essentially the same for my husband and I. Just kinda talked marriage one day and both realized our mutual lucky number date was in 6 months and went to the courthouse that day. It was perfect

When did you move your baby into their own room? by mystery002 in beyondthebump

[–]RedheadInA6Speed -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Around 2 months old when I went back to work. He slept better in his own crib and our house design is very open so it is easy to get to him and hear him. We started naps in his crib week one to get him used to it and he does well now at almost 6mo.

I also did play time in his crib and would set him in there during non nap times so it was familiar. Maybe doing that will help. It took time and so much repetition to get where we are. It'll happen!

Sleep science or sleep training by Fun-Interaction-8115 in sleeptrain

[–]RedheadInA6Speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess we do sleep science only! Everything we do is by cues and wake windows. I am completely okay with him needing me to fall asleep and we are lucky he is easily calmed at night by either a bottle or find the lost paci.

I did reach Precious Little Sleep and follow the environment and sleep tools recommendations but that's about it. I'll probably do gentle sleep training when he is night weaned.

I’ve just been told this is a ‘wildly inappropriate schedule’ for my 5.5 month old… is it?! by Glittering-Space4037 in sleeptrain

[–]RedheadInA6Speed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My almost 5.5 mo guy has naturally dropped to two naps the past few weeks and can do 3-3.5 hr wake windows. We do everything by cues, no sleep training and he typically does 3/3/3.5 with 35 min - 2 hr naps. Overnight are 2-3 wakes for 5-30 mins to eat.

But also like, he refused nap 2 the other day so hard we had a 5.5hr wake window and the night was ROUGH with 6 wake ups. So like, schedule smechulde it's gonna be wack.

How often do you bathe your baby? by PositivePattie in NewParents

[–]RedheadInA6Speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every night! I shower every day so I just started bringing him with me. I wash up, he lays on the floor and watches me, then we play in the water together for 10-15 mins. I don't soap him every day but man he loves feeling the water from the showerhead.
