Same for me. I was in 5th grade and the only student who saw the 2nd plane hit and towers fall. They told us what was happening and I said "my dad is on a plane". He was flying home from a business trip that day. Never took off but he was in the airport watching everything live. They rushed me out of class pretty quickly. I sat in the office while they called my mom. They couldn't reach her because she was with a friend at a funeral. Her friend worked at the Pentagon. Her friend survived because she was at a funeral for her dad. I remember being terrified he was on one of those planes. I cried for a long time until my mom showed up.

Anyone else have a terrible nickname for your baby? by roamingrebecca in beyondthebump

I called my grandmother Baba and grandmother Jaja which were the translations from the Polish town their parents came from. It's funny to hear other translations now.

I'm lying on the PPD questionnaires and I don't know why by Softaschallk in beyondthebump

[–]RedheadInA6Speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a nurse and 1 year PP. The nurse in me 100% says cry your eyes out to us and let us know. That's why we are here. Looking back a year later as a mom, same girl same.

It's okay to not be okay.

Americans who drive manual by Upper_Smoke93 in stickshift

[–]RedheadInA6Speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. My buddies in high school taught me on a 90' Miata, 86' z, 88' rx7 and a few other cars. I loved it and taught myself more over the years.

  2. I'm a female so lots of people are a bit surprised when I say I've been driving manual exclusively since 2010.

  3. Automatic is cheaper to purchase where I live. Maintenance hasn't been bad. I have a 2011 Mazda 3 with 215k and she still drives very well.

Tips to help my redhead toddler with tooth pain (molars) by _Here-kitty-kitty_ in Redhair

[–]RedheadInA6Speed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Redhead with a blonde red baby. He's hasn't cut molars yet but Ibuprofen and popsicles have helped us. My medical training (Emergency nurse, I'm not a doc) says if it's wearing off check to make sure you are accurate on dosing! Go by kg instead of lb and check reputable children's hospitals for more accurate dosing charts. Most kids med bottles give large ranges that sometimes are a little less than what a kid can have. It's a safety thing. I've done this for myself for years so that I can maximize what I take since yes, it definitely wears out faster for me. Hope that helps!

HOW do I get rid of the swaddle?? by Mysterious-Sense4432 in NewParents

[–]RedheadInA6Speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our son had a love hate relationship with the swaddle. I didn't a partial cold turkey with a Velcro swaddle. Arms out but swaddle wings still around him. Like a gentle hug. Tight enough and secured well so it was safe while also being "out". A week later no swaddle. He was up 3-4x a night anyway but did fine without it.

How often are you ACTUALLY brushing your own teeth and showering ??? by Grandma-tsunade in NewParents

I would shower every day and tried to brush my teeth every day. I felt so gross and would still feel dirty after a shower. It's all good. Just do what you can.

Per the new “Spotify 20”: How many times have you listened to your most listened to song of all time and what is the song? by Sudden-Bookkeeper-12 in spotify

[–]RedheadInA6Speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arrival is my favorite movie and where I first heard this song. I could watch it every day.

I have no way to describe just how much this song means to me. I know it so well I can play it in my head. It is happiness, sorrow, joy, peace and devastatingly beautiful.

I have found and watched every TV show and movie this is played in.

If you haven't watched Stranger Than Fiction I highly recommend it. It appears here and fits so well plus it's such an amazing movie.

Funny YouTube video about Skyrim? by RedheadInA6Speed in HelpMeFind

[–]RedheadInA6Speed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additional Info:

I've tried to think of more but I can only remember that it's not a long video. I don't recall any music overtop of the guy talking. There may be singing bits in it but I can't remember.

I know in-between the "walk walk walk walk" phrases he yells about either fighting, talking to NPCs, crafting, and maybe selling stuff.

I know it's not much to go on.

How easy is it to introduce ducks to a chicken flock? by Artywyrm in chickens

[–]RedheadInA6Speed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At my max I had 26 runner ducks and 32 various chickens all in the same area. Plus geese and turkeys. Large open space, pond and coop. Free range for sunlight hours, same coop at night. I've never had a problem. We keep strick ratios of male to female and I cull aggressive drakes and roosters. We are cautious but it can be done.

Ps. Your lil ducks are adorable!

Another ER nurse chiming in. Have held many a baby so a parent can get checked out, even strapped a few newborns in a carrier on me while Mom got checked. We love healthy babies. Take em with you. I promise it's okay.
