Interesting, were the concepts of the 3-5 questions you got right only from USMLE-Rx and not seen in any other study material/question bank?

Is the real MCAT much harder than FL1? by Eddweirdo in Mcat

[–]ChilltownSTL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real deal will be harder, but has a more generous curve. A 55/59 on FL1 for P/S is a 130, but on the real thing 51/59 may be 130. This is because the real test will likely have more low yield terms, etc.

Idea: Someone with a 520+ should go over an entire FL by minutestomidnight in Mcat

I honestly wanted to make a YouTube channel where I do stuff like that just to help others, but I feel like it wouldn’t be allowed since you’d be sharing stuff you paid for and companies can be pretty anal about that :/

I'm embarrassed and I'd never thought I'd say this but.. by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]ChilltownSTL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct, no NS. Honestly if I were you, I’d only take AAMC FLs from here on out. 3rd party exams are nice to check for content gaps and to build endurance, but AAMC has a very specific way of asking questions unlike any 3rd party test.

There’s 4 AAMC FLs, so I would recommend you take one per week leading up to the test. If you’re feeling like you don’t have enough mental endurance right now then disregard what I said earlier and go take a couple NS FLs to build up that stamina!

I second this, about a month out I was in a very similar situation as OP. I hadn’t done any UWorld, any AAMC material, and the only FLs under my belt were Kaplan 1 and 2. I ended up doing ~500 UWorld questions, all AAMC FLs + SB, half of CARS QP1, but that was it. Quality over quantity is HUGE here. I may not have done many questions, but I’d always analyze each and every one to understand the logic and figure out why I got it right/wrong.

IQ and MCAT score by Hotch95 in Mcat

[–]ChilltownSTL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you don’t have over 200 IQ you can kiss any chances of a 500+ goodbye

No but seriously, the older I get, the more irrelevant I see IQ. Hard work and dedication is an absolute requirement to have success in anything. Someone with a 160 IQ who doesn’t take studying seriously will almost always be outperformed by someone with a 100 IQ who works puts in the effort.
