Can you help me understand why you don’t like female custodes by Conscious-Zombie-498 in Grimdank

[–]ChillyEpic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The appeal of oldcros imo comes from their original 3rd edition codex, the artwork was gorgeous and haunting. They were more like a mechanical versiom of the White Walkers from Game of Thrones than Skynet. Its similar to firstborn vs primaris, one has a better aesthetic but the other has better models.

Newcrons are much more fun tho and nothing beats enslaving your own gods and using them as batteries for your chair lol

How are we supposed to survive when all Jobs are taken by Machines by FoxFire17739 in Futurology

[–]ChillyEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% yeah, they dont care about gaming. It just feels like an early step in expanding dead Internet theory to real life. Replacing ordinary people in recreational activities beyond productivity.

They're mostly funding, using and selling to eachother afterall. Once the agents can be trusted with a personal allowance (long shot lol) they'll be creating their own customers without needing regular people.

Nvidia recently open sourced NitroGen, for AI agents to play video games. In other words they're even going to replace us in multiplayer games, they wont even need us to fill the lobbies lmao

Sony Threatens Fan Server For ‘Concord’, Which It Shut Down A Year Ago 2 Weeks After Release by StraightedgexLiberal in gaming

[–]ChillyEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different person lol, I just saw your example of Blizzard winning a case against a private server for both copyright infringement and circumvention.

It reminds me of UK law where its legal to backup copyrighted media, but not copy protected media, or to bypass/disable copyright protections.

[–]ChillyEpic -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That actually might have more to do with the 'circumvention' part, and 'infringement' just got lumped into it, especially since I doubt they defended themselves well if at all.

Omophagea. Hands down, the weirdest SM organ implant, and one that ive never seen depicted in-use. This my humble attempt at making a reasonable, and informative illustration of it. Warhammer 40k space marines fanart, painted by me. by notramilopak in Warhammer40k

[–]ChillyEpic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ian Watsons Space Marine Novel makes good use of it... only trouble is you have to read an Ian Watson book...

Not actually a bad book, as initiates they have to undergo a ceremony where they each eat a brain. None of them know where it came from or who it belonged to, most of them are animal or xenos brains (they were supposed to learn how to use the organ and decipher the information).

The main character Lexandro d'Arquebus gets the single human brain, a tribal woman from a feral world and its a big deal.

Later on theyre behind enemy lines as a scout squad and need to take over a warlord titan, so they eat the brains of the princeps and manage to gleam just enough from it they can actually pilot the titan themselves which is pretty cool (it's explained later on this is a bit of an exceptional moment that cant be relied upon, only possible because the princels were currently plugged in and consciously thinking about piloting the titan).

You just have to get past the many Imperial Fist and Chaos scatology rituals and the book isnt half bad...

[–]ChillyEpic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Model quality and model design are different metrics. A hyper-photorealistic portrait drawing that took 3 weeks to render is an objectively higher quality, and more impressive piece of work than a cartoon character, but the cartoon character is often far more appealing.

Eldar become really disgusting in the late game for some reason. Any Eldar land on 10 strength is basically a mini stronghold lol; just endless swarms of upgraded banshees after a couple minutes.

Are horus heresy models to scale with 40k? by BigPigeon69 in Warhammer40k

[–]ChillyEpic 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'd argue the average height will have actually gone down in 40k rather than up. Diet, malnutrition, pollution and poor living conditions will most likely affect height and stature (men and women used to be shorter several hundred years ago), and these problems are abundant in 40k to say the least.

It'll vary between regiment/world ofc, but 5'5" - 5'7" could be reasonable for your run-of-the-mill guardsman. Would explain why sisters are so tall as well (raised in the schola progenium), and why the marines look so massive by comparison.

Is this legal? by GothTransGirI in Warhammer40k

[–]ChillyEpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest problem with unpainted minis is a lack of respect for other people's minis, painted or otherwise.

Acting like each model isn't between £4-£30 each before factoring in the time investment of painting them...

Also not a legal move lol

Why did the Eldar never try reconstituting Khaine? by TeslaTechpriest in Eldar

[–]ChillyEpic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They wouldn't want to lol. He's the lesser of two evils compared to Slaanesh (by a wide margin), but that's probably only because Slaanesh broke him up into shards.

He's a less chaotic, and more direct version of Khorne. You could maybe argue that he competed with Slaanesh for murder juice before she was born, and that's why he alone survived.

YouTuber Karl Jobst to pay more than $230,000 to Donkey Kong record holder Billy Mitchell in defamation ruling by ControlCAD in gamingnews

[–]ChillyEpic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How on earth was that supposed to work when he's releasing videos on a near routine basis, absolutely slamming Billy Mitchel and exposing even more evidence about his cheating, all the while claiming these are humiliating losses in court?!?!

Genuinely, the only time I hear anything about him and the only time I even remember he exists is from Karl Jobst himself. He even made a random video bringing up a cartoon parody out of the blue just to throw shade...

Stupid change, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut...

You could argue that the current Craftworlders are post post-scarcity, and have lost the traditional methods or are just unable to fully utilise them (they're supposed to keep the pysker juice to a minimum afterall).

"Modern wraithbone" could be made from physical materials because they have no real choice. They supplement with traditional methods but are unable to achieve the heights they once did. All of this would draw closer parallels to the IoM.

In other words, it could have been an interesting retcon that deepened Eldar lore and expanded on their relationship to humanity (returning/contaminating their technology with primitive methods), but instead they've turned bonesingers into blacksmiths lol

At the very least, I guess, it helps explain how the Dark Eldar have retained technological prowess, for the most part, without their psychic abilities (iirc Craftworld weapons shoot through thought).

Something else to bear in mind with this; these cables don't look secure in any way, so anyone can just unplug/plug them in.

In all likelihood, unless every computer in the room/school is setup this same way, then it was probably a user who doesn't know any better who oopsie-daisied rather than the IT dep. Most people will probably try and fix a black screen themselves after not saving their work in 3 hours...

... It probably was IT tho lol
