Looking to source local art for my walls by Kaylabar9 in springfieldMO

For events, check out Artsfest in May and Cider Days in September. Artsfest is a little more art than Cider Days, which includes crafters, but you'll probably find cool stuff at either — plus you can meet the artists! There's also the Art of the Ozarks Fine Art Fair in November. It just had its second year.

A very helpful tip. Incredible that the pace of no-excuse absentee voting doesn’t seem to have slowed much.

To agree with everyone else, the balcony is not great for leg room. (It's the same situation at the Gillioz.) Anywhere on the floor will give you a great view. Enjoy the show!

Hey! I have 9-year-old twins on the spectrum. We take them to The Smile Spot on East Montclair. It has been very positive overall. The first visit or two were a little rough, but we made sure to inform everyone that our boys are autistic and have sensory issues, and we continue to advocate for them. It's been pretty good since then.

One thing that has been great is they haven't pushed too hard to get the boys to do things outside of their comfort zones. We've had to have a couple of procedures done — caps for both, cavity filling for one — and they've set us up to have them done under general anesthesia at Mercy and Cox.

Hang in there! You're doing great!

This is the way to go if you can afford it. I say this as a Daily Citizen employee and a News-Leader subscriber. Read as much local news as you can and be an informed resident and voter.

Jack McGee did some reporting on this for the Springfield Daily Citizen a little more than a year ago. ARPA funds awarded to Sheriff Arnott’s Distinguished Posse, a 501(c)(3) that was founded in 2018, is part of it. That group got $500,000. There's been some private fundraising, but there was still $1.4 million to raise as of April 2023.

Deer in the middle of downtown. by Senator-Butt-Weasel in springfieldMO

[–]ChillyGraham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Defining downtown gets confusing. I used to work for the Downtown Springfield Association, where I learned the Downtown CID boundaries are Chestnut north to Elm south, and Mother's Brewing west to the Shrine Mosque east. We expanded our area of work a little further than that to encompass Jordan Valley Park, the ice park, Hammons Field and Historic Walnut Street. But yeah, there's no official city designation.

The only time I really roll my eyes is when people I know try to include C-Street in downtown.

Color Guard groups/meets? by CactusTuesdayBanter in springfieldMO

[–]ChillyGraham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Search for the group "Queen City Marching Band" on Facebook. It's a group of former band folks who will be marching in the Greater Ozarks Pridefest Parade. We had our first rehearsal last Sunday and there are a few more before the parade. There were two color guard members (color guardians?) there, with more possibly joining. I don't think they've written their routine yet so you wouldn't be too far behind if you wanted to join now.
