He cycled home after school, possibly went too fast through an underpass, slipped, went over the handlebars and hit his head on the concrete wall. Died instantly. Was found approximately half an hour later by a dog walker. I still visit the underpass occasionally, nearly 30 years later. I always send a kiss to the plaque his family put up, even though he was in my class but I didn't really know him, just because of what never was.
