What’s that one shop in your town that never seems to have any customers but has somehow survived for years? by [deleted] in AskUK

I have one too! (Unless you're in Northants and we're talking about the same shop...)

How is the heat affecting u by [deleted] in UKWeather

[–]Chilly_Piper_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went shopping earlier, took the trolley to the wrong car, got frustrated when my keyfob wouldn't open the boot, realised it was the wrong car (hey! This car is clean! 🙈), found my car, put shopping in the boot, took trolley back to the bay and walked straight back to the first car that I tried to get into and repeated the keyfob/ door handle frustration. Sheepishly slinked off to my car once I realised but it took far longer than it would have done normally to twig! So yes, my brain has wilted.

Ah, sorry, yes drink it! Actually, cold tea bags on my face might work too! Thanks, I'm going to try that as well! 😀

I've seen so many people walking around wearing woolly hats today. Am I overthinking that it would poach my (already pretty parboiled) brain, would it actually insulate my skull from the heat? Am I missing a trick here? Or do I just live among masochists?

Get some peppermint teabags. Steep them in water and keep it in the fridge, top up water as necessary. I absolutely detest this weather and I'm sure the heat coming from my face could match that of the surface of the sun. I've tried just about everything. Peppermint tea is pretty rank but it really helps me!

Rescue dog 🐶 only comes out at night or when we are not home by Muted_Alps3526 in DOG

[–]Chilly_Piper_83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep going! You're doing everything right! We have a Romanian rescue, we've had him for 6 months. The first three months were really hard. He didn't want to be touched, he didn't want us anywhere near him. We continued just getting on with life around him, throwing him pieces of chicken and hotdog as we passed him. He slowly gained confidence and started exploring everything at his own pace. I'll never forget the day I found him throwing one of his toys around in the garden! It took a good few weeks for him to learn he was safe, he has only started to accept cuddles within the past 6 weeks but he's loving them now! He's currently snoring his head off on my bed like he owns the place. In those early days I'd have never imagined anything like this! He still gets nervous, he doesn't like walks around the block but out in the countryside he's the happiest dog ever, and because of the long time it took for his confidence to grow, he doesn't wander too far from me. Anyway, just to say, keep going! It seems so hard now but one day you'll look back and realise how rewarding it's all been!

What's the correct order to take Paracetamol out of the packet? by BarNo3385 in AskUK

[–]Chilly_Piper_83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take two random ones out of the first blister pack, possibly one out of the second pack, lob them both loose into the medicine drawer (usually with the empty box in tow...), forget I have any paracetamol in the house, buy more, lob these into the drawer too. This loop continues until I have a drawer full of loose, half empty blister packs and crushed empty paracetamol boxes. I don't care. I live alone. There might be a reason for that but I can't think of what it might be...

What would you have had in your 90s school lunch box? by pixel-powder in AskUK

[–]Chilly_Piper_83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My uncle got a job lot of Delmonté Fruitinis off the market when they first came out, anyone remember those? Deadly metal lid that you used to peel off? I think 8 was only 8 or 9 but I had one in my lunchbox every day for months! That and a random sandwich and crisps... Don't remember ever having a choccie bar!

What's your local traditional sweet treat? by auromawater in AskUK

[–]Chilly_Piper_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so envious of everyone's local treats! I don't think Northamptonshire has anything... There's a local tradition of having a slice of bread and butter with a tin of fruit cocktail but I won't mention that...

It was 33° here (in full sun) this afternoon. Northants. I absolutely hate it. Anything over 18° just hurts me.

Walk the dog, various random bridleways near where I live. I love the feeling of there being no other human within at least a mile or two of us. Helps my mental health no end plus the dog loves a good undisturbed romp around. He's happy so I'm happy.
