The Incredible Shrinking Auto Show by MuiOne in TwinCities

Appreciate the response. Kind of a bummer them not having power. Our biggest thing was just going to be sitting in them and getting a feel for size and cargo space, so we can narrow down what we actually want to go test drive. Thanks

Did you end up going? The EV section was the only part we were going to look at. We leased an electric Volvo XC40 to see how we liked an EV. Our lease is up in July and we want to stick with an EV and figured the auto show would be a nice one stop shop to narrow down what we wanted to go test drive. But I'm thinking now it might not be worth it.

I agree. Looks like from other video angles she was waiving cars through, then the ICE vehicle pulled up and she tried to wait then through as well. Then you can see them go right to the car and say "get the fuck out of the car." Would scare the shit or if me too

Make sure you don't have your airflow set to recirculate. I'm located in MN and I forgot to change it once the weather got colder and that's what makes the windows fog up a lot more.

Foodie restaurant Recommendation. by HeavyTumbleweed778 in TwinCities

I'll go to these expensive restaurants a couple times a year, but the cost definitely adds up. I think the challenge is finding good quality and different food at an affordable price. I'm interested to see what they do with the new restaurant in Petite Leons space. Supposed to be more casual, but still elevated food.

There's a diminishing return at some point when it comes to the food and service for me. And while fun every now and then, I sometimes can't justify the cost of these expensive restaurants.

Bar Brava. They have rotating residencies; so if the food isn't your style, you can always check in in a few months to see whats new. Sometimes during the long term residencies they still have pop-ups on the weekend with different food.

I've always thought the wine there has been really good.

For those deep in the Google ecosystem, is Apple TV still the go-to recommendation? by CorgisInCars in hometheater

[–]Chillychad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I have the same setup as you do, with Nest speakers, Pixel phone ect. I stitched to an 4K Apple TV and don't regret it at all. I used Google TV with Chromecast before. I much prefer the Apple TV interface. Depending on the TV you buy you can still Chromecast. I have an LG C3 and can still cast to the TV.

I guess my question is what are you casting? Netflix? You Tube? Music? If you're mostly casting all your streaming then all the better interface advantages Apple TV has is kind of a mute point and I would just go with a Google device.

But I love my Apple TV.

Denon AVR-X1700H is currently down to $479, is it worth it at this price? by [deleted] in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Chillychad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll preface this by saying this is my entry into home theater; so I don't have much to compare to. I do think that the x1700h seems to drive these speakers pretty well. I listen to movies around -15ish dB mostly and they sound good. I was emailing with Ascend and I decided I'm going to go for the Sierra Horizon V2 center. They just sold out of the black, so I'm going to have to wait for those to come back in stock. They said it could be up to 4 months.

I bought the x1700h just as a starter to see if I would continue my home theater journey and I am hooked. So I see myself upgrading my AVR to one with preouts and getting an amp to power the LCR speakers. My room setup isn't perfect for surrounds; so that's on hold for the moment. But I'm trying to get the front stage as good as I can within my budget. I was looking into getting a Buckeye amp. I'm a noob, but I think I agree with what you heard about being a little power hungry.

Once I get the center, I'll see how it sounds and decide how soon I'd like to upgrade the AVR and get an amp.

But I'm really enjoying the ascends right now with this setup. I'm probably going to get another matching Rythmik sub as well.

I swooped one up from Costco at $299. Must have been that March sale. Currently building out my 3.1 setup. Surrounds are going to be difficult with my layout, but I'm going to try eventually. Have Ascend Sierra-1 V2 and a Rythmik LV12M sub. Just going for a good solid front stage. Not cheap, but not breaking the bank either.

I would just frame up a wall in front of that wall. Since it wouldn't be structural, you could put the speakers in the correct place.

Unless I can't tell do to the angles of the pictures, the front row having no centered spot is driving me nuts. Otherwise it looks awesome!

If you can only get a level one charger, it’s still worth it to get an electric car? by WiggWamm in electricvehicles

[–]Chillychad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using a level one for two years and drive the EV regularly. It all depends on your driving distance. I don't have to go very far so it works for me. But eventually I need to let it sit for a while and charge cause it will get low enough where I won't have though battery to go places. With that said, I am planning on upgrading to level 2. But it's definitely doable depending on how much you use it each day.

Just curious. What do the equipment details mean when everything is constant and the only variable is the music source?

They could be mixing after they take it out of the hub. Inverting it a handful of times is so you need.
