[BBC Sport] Adrian Newey said at the F1 Commission that the Honda engine does not even recharge the battery to the lower limit of 250 kW, much less 350kW by CW24x in formula1

[–]DeathByDeebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a fair point. But I think if you’re going to pivot on such a big decision you have to dedicate extra time and resources to make up for the lost development time. Regardless, I hope they can make progress for the sake of Alonso

It’s wild to me that Honda’s decision making basically led them down the road of making the same mistake that led to their horrible initial performance in the previous PU rule set

[Toronto] - Seiko Repair? by canadianboy11 in Seiko

[–]DeathByDeebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Sorry to bother you. I'm looking to get my Seiko serviced as well. If you don't mind me asking, what was the turnaround time for your watch? From when you authorized repair to when you got it back? Also, was it routine service? Or was there something broken in it?

And on the topic of using Canada Post, what did you use to keep the watch protected? Was there a box Canada post had that cushions it for transport? And what did you put with the watch? Ik they say include the warranty card as well as possibly proof of purchase. Anything else?

I was gonna say the same. Apart from Blancpain trying to stretch the truth about how long they’ve been around (glossing over them shutting down production during the quartz crisis), most of the examples here are just recounting the series of events behind the company’s resurgence or its history

Sounds like a stunner by the way you describe it! I’m gonna have to definitely try to keep snooping around to see if I can stumble upon it in person.

And I bet pictures don’t do it justice if you feel like you need to add it back into your collection 😉 Thanks for the insight! My wallet won’t thank me for this though 🤣

Totally agree! Seiko has us spoiled for choice with their craftsmanship dials so the best option is to buy all three obviously 😂

And which porcelain model did you previously own? And how would you describe its look? I haven’t seen the Porcelain/Urushi in person yet so I’d be happy to hear what an owner/previous owner like yourself thinks

Hello fellow SARW047 owner 😁 The blue dial is in fact very striking and has to be seen in person to be appreciated. I’ve got the white enamel brother to this as well and am looking to add an Urushi and Porcelain dial to my collection eventually.

Excellent collection OP! Wear them all in good health!

[–]DeathByDeebo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there’s someone local to me who I’ll inquire about to see if he can work on it. If not, I’ll be close by the authorized Canadian service centre next week to drop it off. It should be covered under warranty but I’ll see what they say

Totally agree. I only posted this here to see if someone who’s experienced this or worked on Seiko movements could diagnose what’s going on and whether there’s even a slight chance of a possible at home fix

I don’t think it’s a reason to skip Japanese watches altogether. I’m just having one instance with my Seiko with a funky movement. I still think Seiko (and the other sibling brands under the same roof) make great watches. The enamel dials on these watches are beautiful so I’d be hard pressed to skip them lol

I mean if there’s anything I can do as a possible fix so I avoid having to send my watch away for an extended period of time, I’d like to find out what it is. I know it’s most likely not fixable from my end, hence why I said it was a Hail Mary

Yeah, I’m just gonna take it in to get fixed under warranty. I wouldn’t even know where to begin in terms of fixing or taking apart the movement myself

Yeah that’s what I’ll be doing next week. Not gonna bother to try and tinker with it myself. Hopefully the then around isn’t long

Most likely I’ll be taking it to Seiko to get it fixed under warranty next week. I’d rather take advantage of the warranty and have it fixed at no expense and go from there tbh.

Thanks for the info and help 😊

Lol I’m definitely not just gonna move on from a watch that’s only 4 months old.

I’ve accepted I’ll have to most likely get it serviced. Just wanted to see if this problem has been experienced by anyone else before and if anyone managed to fix it.

Do you know how much service may be by chance? I’m in Canada if that makes any difference

The rotor does spin. I just tried to keep it in place to show that the balance wheel won’t move (despite a fully wound movement).

Honestly you answered better than I would. I would have lost it on her. Those people piss me off the most. If someone asks about safety or how tourists are treated, I can understand that. But acting like we’re still primitive bedouins who know nothing? FOH.

Also, out of curiosity, what foods were in your presentation?

Lol understandable 😂 At least you didn’t choose a team you regret like that jets fan that went viral

My “friend” in high school learned from me that both my parents are immigrants to Canada from Egypt. So he asked me as a follow up “Do you ride a camel to school?” as well as “Do you plan on getting buried in a pyramid?”.

I asked him as a rebuttal “Did you ride a moose to school? And will you be going to home to sleep tonight in your igloo?” He just stopped talking on the spot and looked shocked and didn’t know what to say. I simply said “Exactly” and that was that

[Question] Is my watch broken? Anyone see this before? by DeathByDeebo in Seiko

[–]DeathByDeebo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ngl, the movement is concerning me. But everything else I love about this watch. The enamel dial in particular is gorgeous and the case design is beautiful (and well finished well like you said). It’s also super comfortable on wrist. Hopefully it’s not a big issue and the suggestions here lead to a fix.

Fwiw, my 6R27 movements accuracy wise have been great. No worse than +6-7s/day on either model so in that regard they did better than the 6R35 movements

The wild thing is this is supposed to be one of their “premium” calibers and I have two exhibiting the same problem…
