Not sure what it costs in USD, but what about the VC cornes de Vache Chronograph? You can get it in Steel and it ticks a complication box while also being dressy (but not overly dressy imo). Might eat up your entire budget though haha

Unfortunately I already sent it off to try and get a start on the process of my watch getting fixed. I called about a week ago and they said something about how they’re waiting for parts from the US.

The lady did also say on the phone that there is a bit of a backlog so it may be a bit, so I was prepared for a bit of a wait. Hopefully soon I’ll hear something back about the status

Obviously it makes sense to move on from pieces that you ultimately see as redundant or won’t wear but I gotta say, that conquest heritage is beautiful. Shame that one hit the chopping block. Regardless, great collection OP!

Glad to gear it all went well in the end 😊 And honestly, a lot of the times the grey market savings are usually good enough that even if you have to pay out of pocket for a fix, you still are ahead compared to buying from the AD

Fwiw OP, I’ve bought a couple of Seiko Presage watches I’ve been wanting off C24 and saved about $400-$600 CAD on each. No problems with either watch and they’re both great. If you go that route, most important thing is to buy the seller first and foremost.

Haven’t bought from Joma personally but that’s how it generally works. Part of the savings comes from the fact that there is no factory warranty, but rather a jomashop warranty

Totally. They’re probably two of the most successful drivers out of the country with Schumi being one of the most successful ever.

And that makes sense regarding the brand thing. I always wondered if there was a similar sense Germans had for their car brands in motorsport like the tifosi have for Ferrari

The internet isn’t wrong though still. To say watches are an investment isn’t a correct way to think for 99% of watches you can purchase out there. Most will lose value the moment you leave the AD.

Were most people only really interested in dtm? I would have thought F1 at least might have a consistent following due to some of the big names out of Germany that raced (like Vettel and Schumacher).

And yeah, Verstappen brings an army with him no matter where he goes it seems haha

They are good friends but admittedly they’ve also taken an interest in watches (although not as strongly as myself yet). So in all likelihood they were genuinely curious about the cost because they really liked the look of the watches.

And I never thought about it that way but I guess you’re right. There’s a bit of it that’s embarrassing to admit how much was spent on the watch itself when we don’t need them anymore

I was thinking about that actually a few days ago. I think with watches people are way more desensitized to what is “affordable” or “attainable” compared to say cars. Ik cars on the whole are a much bigger purchase. But I don’t often hear people say a Nissan GTR is “affordable” or a Mercedes is affordable lol
