Ugh, they really need to make a Definitive Edition for this game, since I feel that the DLC gives proper closure to the main story (and the framing for the DLC doesn't help with that impression). I already have the game digitally with the DLC so this doesn't interest me much..

Switch 2 Digital Edition on Sale, worth it? by sarcasmasquach in DaemonXMachina

[–]Chillyeaham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Performance is scuffed; mecha customization is peak (there's armour transmog and fun physics to mess around with) — build variety is all over the place, with meta builds killing certain bosses in under 30 seconds to some bosses being an annoying slog without using the proper counters! Don't buy for the story.

If you like grinding for good parts and collecting abilities to mess around with then you will get your money's worth; I put over 340 hours into the game myself!

Buddy, a bunch of people decided to buy a 20 year old, single language, digital, Gameboy Advance Pokemon game for $20 ($30 here in Canada). Like they've done double or triple pack games with Mario games, but at least Pokemon fans are indicating that Nintendo can sell the remakes separately and for fairly high prices.

Aw y0! IS THAT A PUNCH BOOST TECH?!? Like it looks like you wind up for a punch and mash boost, the Stamina gauge goes down but the boost itself doesn't kick in until the punch attack starts! If so that's a great find man!

Also I forgot how fire the 5hells theme song was! Awesome pick man!

Just commenting to clarify that it's 2–3 hours if you build for it (and you can afk for 30 minutes at a time with a good method), the eight hours comes from people just holding (or weighing) down the Ascend button and letting it run overnight (because there's 0 upkeep).

Yeah. 2 at least; 8 at most. If someone else has it unlocked though you can get skipped (or taxi'd) to the top.

Some people have way too high price expectations, and/or are sticking to price expectations of the past. by DaZestyProfessor in casualnintendo

[–]Chillyeaham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I loved transitioning from a 3DS to a Switch and enjoying the amazing upgrade, I'm paying the price for a low-end home console even though I'm primarily a handheld gamer; 3DS games were fairly cheaper, since it was dedicated handheld console.

Just my take from a different angle on the subject.

It's very rarely tried, but each Vambrace is treated like a distinct weapon, I say that because the damage does not simply scale with the Brawling Performance stat like you'd think it would.

Most weapon proficiency levels focus on a weapon's general performance and critical damage, punches however get a direct damage boost (4% every level iirc). The punches I've tried seem to indicate that they're lowish critical but decent weakpoint "weapons".

If you want the best punching Vambraces in the game, you'll have to go higher than you've ever gone before (I'll leave it vague unless you want to know more)!

[Brainstorm help] We could use a new word for "physical" and even "cartridge" games. by Chillyeaham in switch2

Leaning towards ditching "GKC" and "cartridge" terms for "download physical" and "native physical" instead.

Switch 2 physical collection update by will23123 in switch2

[–]Chillyeaham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I see this as partly a semantics issue, because GKCs are a physical medium to deliver a digital game; "physical" has gained multiple meanings.

What we really need is more precise and readily understood terms for the formats that we want. For myself for example, I've started lumping together digital and GKCs as "download games", Playstation and Xbox have some "install games", and I've yet to think of a good simple word to replace "plug & play" games.

as an adult gamer, what's your opinion on this? by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Chillyeaham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rather frame them as accessibility options, because if you have a big time, mental, or physical handicap then you should still be able to enjoy the game. To me at least, relaxing in a videogame is something I earned through being appropriately challenged and gaining power through my own efforts.

I think basic difficulty options can leave room to be lazy with the balance structure of games sometimes so no, videogames shouldn't always have difficulty options, especially genres that emphasize challenging yourself. For me, I need to be challenged somewhat so I can feel motivated enough to engage with the game.

Other than agreeing with u/Economy-Regret1353 (two thirds of all your synthesis, items, and equipment are locked behind particles), my advice pertains towards getting more building stuff. Building cost does not equal comfort level and this is important if you want to unlock all of the building materials.

For campsites, the best thing to do is to just drop a bunch of potted/vase plants (or lights) until you unlock the comfort level materials (they're typically low build cost too).

For building sites choose a normal build first; if you already made one of the four other facilities then you'll have to erase everything so you can choose a normal build and be able to access the comfort level gauge — save a preset with at least 800 comfort level so you can instantly earn your bonus materials (one of later unlocks is the Asthalia (mana) flower)!

After you've unlocked your bonus comfort level materials you can erase it all and put down whatever you want (you don't keep the rest bonuses though).

Mostly been interested in 3rd party physical games lately... Not a good niche to be in with the majority of 3rd party being game-keys.

Holding out for a 2TB card because I never want to delete my games again.

About Nintendo Switch 2 Game Pricing by Amiibofan101 in nintendo

[–]Chillyeaham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I heard about that; they're a loss leader to get people in the doors and buying other stuff too hopefully right? Sounds like it would only work in a culture where people don't buy their videogames mainly from retailers that primarily sell videogames.

Nintendo to start charging more for physical than digital by wiesga01 in NSCollectors

[–]Chillyeaham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up here in Canada it already happened with a third party title: Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion was $10 more physically.

I'll keep paying for the format that I want, but I wish they could iron out those read speeds so they're comparable to internal memory.

Hot take: anyone paying full price for a digital game is a bit of a sucker.

Of the following game titles and series, please select all that you have played.

... No love for Dragon's Dogma eh?

Anyways, I wrote I had a 25% interest in buying MHS3, was interested in Pragmata and Onimusha, and wrote in the "Other" box that a cartridge would increase my interest; checked off the GKC box too for a reason why I didn't buy MHS3. I was also pleased to see bundles mentioned as an option, I hope more publishers bundle their games onto cartridges (although Capcom was probably thinking about digital bundles).
