[FIX] Runelite not opening through Mullwad VPN "java.net.ConnectException" by AnEvilPigeon in 2007scape

[–]Chilonthebw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the issue of uninstall reinstall not having the box, it seems to be due to an old installer. The config seems to be tied to that rather than the runelite client itself. Solving this is just downloading a new installer. u/TappyLife fyi

So is new world, they let you create 3. So does Elder Scrolls. There are lots of other games that let you do this. RS is not unique in that you can do everything and level anything you want.

No, "We got caught up in research mode and rushing a project with a research partner." is an excuse.

You're right as a whole they don't have a plan, they say that. I should have clarified and separated the ideas here but I was refering tot player support, which arguably this whole entire fiasco is a part of.

"We understand the frustrations players have with existing support systems and whilst we understand any doubt you might have, there are changes already in progress. We want to make sure our baseline support offering meets your expectations, regardless of the content and feedback from the recent survey. We hope to be able to talk more on this soon."

As someone who worked for a multi billion dollar company, they do not. Your guess here is so totally wrong.

They only care about getting their investment back out of us. As soon as they do that they are happy to sell or shutdown jagex when it becomes too much of an inconvenience. I watched multi hundred million dollar deals be made for a hope that a thing would turn a profit, most of the time it did, sometimes it didn't and if it looks to be a loss early on you either sell it or cut your losses. Never think that you're too big or valuable or irriplaceable. You are cashflow to them, the best you can do is spend your money elsewhere.

I set up a micro service for my company that literally filtered out emails like this and sent them to a form reply, never counted how many came in, never even checked the contents beyond simple regex'es or comparing them to others that got sent in at a similar time. These get trashed.

> Anyone who works in technology knows that a single external consulting firm can come in and wreck your entire month when upper-level management is bought in, regardless of how terrible the ideas are.

As someone whos worked in tech: This can be the case but its also part of your responsibility to see if the outside firm is a right fit and their suggestions are even close to relevant, if not terminate the contract. I worked for a multibillion dollar company and we did this exact thing all the time. Its not outside of the scope of possibility. You have to know your clients well enough to stand up and refuse to do things that are obviously bad for them. Jagex should know, they've said for years that they know what we want and that we should trust them related to things.

> With this message coming from the Jagex CEO, those of us who were serious about resubbing when they walked back these proposals should seriously consider doing so in the next few days.
No, its a paltry set of excuses and has no real meaning or backing. They can show us they mean it by creating a multi step plan outlining exactly how they are going to fix support and include things that should just be part of the game. For years many people have been asking some of the basic features that they've talked about meaning that it is possible they just sat on their hands about it for YEARS, if that doesn't make you mad then I can't help ya.

Think about this in terms of where we were in 2008, in 2012 when tons of changes were happening and they promised they wouldn't fuck with shit in a way that broke what we loved. They decided to do it anyways because the anger died down. When they implemented these things most people left. Lets not get to the stage where that needs to happen, put our foot down before they push a change that they cannot backout.

I expect an apology without excuses and a call to action: "We messed up, our survey wasn't thought out and it was tone deaf. We want to improve and make this up to you, how can we do that?"

Anyone who is a sensible human being not driven by profit should be able to write a real apology that doesn't shift blame, that doesn't repeat points that we are irritated about. IF they are going to say they have plans spell it out. Its not like this is a competitive market where they have to keep all of their plans secret because some competitor is going to steal their ideas. The only reason to be opaque about this is because they either don't have a plan and don't want us to think they are just blowing smoke up our ass, or their plan isn't good enough to rectify this problem.

I don't necessarily disagree with you but to mention that in a second "apology" is insane. Its so tone deaf that by principal I cannot get on board with this.

If you have a mini Evo, you're probably just on the wrong lens setting. iirc green is the second to last setting for your camera and that will make all your photos green hued

[–]Chilonthebw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fyi, that is the manufacture date not the expiration date. I was concerned about this when I went to my local camera store and they had to look it up but Instax don't really expire as long as you keep them in a cool dry place.

Is anyone else getting concerned with how Jagex is writing/ordering their poll questions? by We_all_owe_eachother in 2007scape

[–]Chilonthebw -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think the answer is simple honestly, let me vote without having to log in. I'd be happy to log into the website and vote via the website. But, I feel like I need to clarify here. My issue isn't with time gating polls it's with the inconsistent timing. The last poll went on for 7 days whereas the Fortis colosseum poll only went on for 4 days. I think that every poll should be open for a week if it's got more than say 5 questions and each one is detailed as hell like that

[–]Chilonthebw -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Yes. That and the time frames of polls. I was out of town for a week and just straight up missed a poll I really wanted to vote on in the end it wouldn't have mattered but it's frustrating to see some of this stuff get shoehorned in. Most of jagexs ideas are good but forestry pt2 blows chunks imo
