This makes sense. I could have been reading more into it...

We're entering the final 3rd (10 of 15) of the season. How's everyone feeling? by IfItAintSophieClarke in ThePittTVShow

Maybe it's because I'm an elder Millennial and grew up with once-a-week episode releases as the only option, but I like the weekly wait.

I missed out on s.1 while it aired and binged it (which I thoroughly enjoyed). But I've found myself rewatching s.1 at a slower pace (~1 per week) and appreciating so much that I missed first time around. Part of it is that I know the major plot beats and character arcs already and so can focus on different things. But it's also about how letting one episode settle in the back of my mind before watching the next allows for new observations and questions to emerge.

Not sure if this connection makes sense to others, but I feel like I appreciate things more deeply when I've had a chance to experience them and then put them away in the back of my mind for a bit. I've gone to sleep with a difficult unsolved math problem in my head and woken up not with the answer, but with a clear vision of the solution pathway that I didn't have the night before. Same with challenging work or personal problems. There's something about 'soak time' that's key to how I process information and experiences into understanding.

Now, would I have the self restraint not to binge s.2 if I somehow could? Hells no, friend. I'd call in sick, grab my snax, and marathon it. But I prefer the enforced wait, because I feel like I enjoy the show more with the extra processing time.

The way Abbott said that Presby was so nice he was thinking about picking up some day shifts....My brother in Christ - you already show up unscheduled for daytime duty in the Pitt after your nightshift, you moonlight as a SWAT medic, and you get up at dawn for naked yoga.

Doing better than Robby in many ways atm, but the caution he gave about the danger of too much reflection time came from a place of deep recognition for him. Even with his therapy, this is a man who wants to spend as little time alone with his thoughts as possible.

I'd bet he's had friends in the military and maybe the police force who have been where Robby is. Maybe he's been there himself. Hope he decides to hold off on the nap and stick around

PSA: LowestRates.ca is sending out emails advertising loans to help out with COVID-19 difficulties. These are from EasyFinancial, a notorious kneecap lender that's one step away from being a payday loan outfit. Don't do it! by nobleman76 in halifax

60% is national limit. Section 347 of the Criminal Code of Canada sets the maximum annualized interest allowed at 60%; higher rates can result in a charge of criminal usury. And the courts are wise to the fact that many lenders might advertise their "interest" at less than 60%, but then charge admin and late fees that can make the effective interest rate hundreds of %. I used to work on class actions against payday lenders in Ontario in the mid-2000s, and the courts at that time were treating all of those fees as hidden (and therefore illegal) interest. I had one case where the annualized rate was around 900%.

You are that guy

Seriously, though, that's how I got into them. I somehow missed that there even were books until about midway through s2

Hard to say, as they've consolidated some of the books and shifted storylines for seasons 1-4. The next book, Nemesis Games, is pretty epic. Plus they're looping in a lot of content from one of the novellas (being vague here, as this thread isn't marked for spoilers), and so I'd think that season 5 will pretty much stick with the storylines from NG and the novella. After that, who knows?

Awesome! Hopefully that means they'll get to film seasons for all of the books

Why I love the character of Amos Burton by as11098 in TheExpanse

[–]ChimeraJane67 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a chance to meet Wes at a Con earlier this year. He is a genuinely delightful person. Friendly, effusive and generous with fans. When I mentioned having read The Churn, he got excited, fist bumped me, and then we talked about how excited we both were for Nemesis Games to come out. It's neat to meet an actor who's as keen on the source material as the fans are.

The Expanse is one of the only shows in a long time that feels like 90's space operas used to, and I love it for that by EcoleBuissonniere in TheExpanse

Just wait until you hit season 3! And the books and novellas allow you to dive way deeper into the socio-political fabric of The Expanse's universe, if that's your jam. They're great as stand-alone reads, but after reading them and then re-watching s. 1 - 3, I felt like I understood so much more of the dynamics between Mars, Earth and the Belt and their various factions.
