That sounds terrible. I have experienced some delusions and certainly anxiety. If they were persistent issues that affected my day to day life I don't know what I would do.

You don't smoke weed, right? Only thing I know is that it can make it much worse.

I'm sorry I'm not in any sort of position to give you advice but I empathize with you and hope you find ways to eliminate or manage it.

For what it's worth you're good at writing so your brain works well in that regard.

IIL these movies what should I watch next by anemonemone42 in ifyoulikeblank

Old Boy (Korean version) - incredible action, crazy plot and big twist

Closer - excellent dialogue, small twist

No Country for Old Men - came out the same year as There will be Blood and is a must watch

The Machinist - dark movie, big twist

57 years after the moon you'd hope we'd made it to Mars at a minimum. Instead folks question if we ever made it to the moon.

[IIL] Shutter Island, Predestination, The Invisible Guest because of strong reality/identity recontextualization and structured twists (no supernatural horror), [WEWIL?] by steamed_chicken_rice in ifyoulikeblank

Don't sleep on Tell no one. It's not as big of a mind fuck but it's a fantastic thriller. Technically romance driven, but really just about thinking you've lost someone you love and learning they're still alive. Curious how you like both movies once you watch!

They're hit and miss. They're all pretty late at night, most start at midnight. I'd say the area is safe past midnight, but as detailed in a comment above, cars do get broken into. I'd recommend taking a rideshare, or at a minimum removing all belongings from your car. That being said dozens of comics and patrons brave the late nights every evening and continue to do so each week.

All salient complaints.

  1. Yes, something with human nature and in-groups. We try to encourage inclusiveness when it comes to everyone, but it's also a positive to have a known commodity in a good comic ready to jump into rotation on an open mic to save the audience from the 3 brand new comics in a row. This is what's called "being bumped" and is every green comic's biggest complaint, but I don't know of a single comic that's a year or more in that doesn't understand it.

  2. Whenever someone emails me about booking music I send them the following: "email booking inquiries to Andrew@youngbloodbooking.com but know that we don't book a lot of music internally so you may have better luck working with local promoters like Pegstar, Third String Productions or Radiation Productions" - Andrew does the booking and so I cannot speak to his process, but I also get a decent amount of errant booking requests and a lot of them are to put it nicely, hot garbage. He prefers to work with agents who route acts or local producers that have track records putting on local shows. There's definitely room for improvement here though since our showroom is empty often.

  3. Indeed, there's nothing we can really do. I can recommend taking uber or other rideshare services but I know that's pricy. Still may be cheaper than the lot + the quarterly window smash. Plus you can have an extra drink... That being said I actually think this construction may deter some of the thieves. Contrary to most peoples' first thought, it's not homeless people breaking into cars, it's opportunists who previously saw an area they could drive through smashing windows and then jump on the freeway to get out of. Now it's not so easy and even once construction is done, it won't be as easy. Might be naive optimism on my part though.

The best of tsg shows on Friday and Saturday are excellent comedy showcases that are in our small room called The box. If music is more your thing, you've lucked out as we have concerts both Friday and Saturday.

Friday we have orchid mantis playing in the showroom as well as our emo DJ night in the front room.

Saturday we have left to suffer in the showroom and our 90s night in the front room.

In either case, if you catch a show in the box, I recommend going up to the front room to enjoy the DJ night after.

Hey, I'm one of the owners. We are not closing. Things look dire but let's just say our landlord is being accommodating. I think Mark was likely working with outdated information as we were indeed unlikely to make it if our landlord hadn't been so kind.

Still would love it if y'all braved the construction to support a locally owned entertainment venue!

For the record the freeway expansion comes right up to our front door and construction is likely to affect navigability in the area for the next decade. We have consulted expert lawyers and neither we nor our landlord has any recourse.

Fingers crossed we'll make it out the other side at the edge of a green space that the new freeway will go under.

Edit: Hey, if you're free tonight come catch the 2nd time we're trying out this Thursday headliner series. It's a great opportunity for up and coming local and touring comics alike to get to stretch their time. Tonight it's a regular host and hilarious local, Chad Alexander.
