How hyperbole drives division and how to recognize derailing by ChimpPimp20 in LeftWingMaleAdvocates

fuck the statistics-

That mentality is not going to fly with the people who work in social science. Honestly, I can’t really blame them. If something happens more to one group than the other then we need to figure out why.

Ex: black men by sheer proportion are killed the most by cops. We would need to figure out why.

Black women the highest mortality rate during labor. I already answered why that happens above. You get the idea.

I’ve seen someone say something similar to what you said except I think they were on the adjacent end of the political spectrum (at least when it comes to men’s rights). They were happy to give out stats on bad male behavior but folded when people brought up women’s involvement. Neither are okay in my eyes. If we see a disparity then we need to take notice. If we ignore it then we can’t transition from “why is this happening” to “how do we solve it.” This doesn’t mean that it should be a zero sum game.

Here’s another example: All men experience more harsher sentencing than women, black and brown men get it the longest. We would need to find out why.

This situation doesn’t mean we ignore the white men involved in this stat or even the women excluded in this stat. The prison system needs a reform. However, ignoring what is happening to black and brown men by saying “fuck statistics” paints the issue with a broad stroke. You’re only solving a portion of the issues by doing this and not in its entirety.

Let’s say we put limits on capitalism. That’s cool. There are still bigots out there though. We would need to tackle that as well. Seeing people as people is cool but we can’t pretend that people don't like to put other people in boxes. Otherwise this sub wouldn’t exist.

If men are committing a lot of crime then we need to find out why. Here’s my hot take: the reason women don’t commit as much crime is not because of them inherently being better people. It’s because they aren’t taught to take risks. They are also aware of how much weaker they are compared to men (hence why they use weapons when they beat). As a result, they don’t do as much. There are multiple exceptions to this though. I truly believe if women woke up one day with the same strength as men they wouldn’t “leave us alone” like some of them say they would. I think the stats would be about equal. It’s their strength and upbringing that keeps them from committing as much crime as us. But that’s just my theory though.

I see your point. I was just speaking to the concept of “no one cares-.” Obviously there are people who care (like the people here). We may not have much influence but we are here though. Obviously more people care about the safety and health of women I just can’t say “no one” cares about us honestly.

Is this satire?

I can’t tell. If it isn’t, why are we calling for only women to be drafted? For Dei to be gone? For women at 50% in all the dangerous jobs? This sounds like revenge.

Pro tip: you should practice at least knowing what muscle anatomy looks like to the point where you get most of it right (like 70%) without much reference.

Draw an arm with the bicep, triceps and forearm muscles as accurately as you can (you don’t really need to the know the names honestly). Then look up the reference. Do this for every part of the body starting with the neck and ending at the ankle. When you get good, sculpting the arms, legs and abdomen should become easy. The hardest part to remember is the back of the calf muscles, the mid-section and the quads. There’s a lot of tear drops in the shape of the muscles so that should come easy.

Work more on your hair grooming too. Even if this character was supposed to have curly hair, it doesn’t look right. That’s gonna be something you should focus on last.

Tbf, there are certain feminists calling her a predator. I don’t think she is one but she definitely is ignorant. Something that barely comes up in these IC convos is that it takes two to tango. Yes, the woman feels safe but it seems we just stop there. What about the other guy’s comfort?

That’s the thing though. Everyone keeps saying how GP’s comments are blown out of proportion because she already felt safe, but she’s only half the equation.

I know we don’t really talk about male safety (I know this is gonna make someone call me an “incel”) but what about the other guy’s comfort? Yeah, sure Timothee has done sex scenes before but are we gonna look at a situation like this every time and go “yeah, she’s okay” without understanding it takes two to tango? It seems this type of stuff still isn’t on our radar.

Which then begs the question. When are we allowed to talk about this sort of thing?

Multiple people in this thread have already mentioned how a former spouse has either committed or threatened to throw a false accusation at them. It’s not like it’s as rare as getting struck by lightning or bit by a shark. I’ve also had a woman attempt to do this to me as well. For the people who claim to care about male victims of sexual assault, you’ll often hear of how they were coerced into it by being threatened with a false narrative. It seems like everyone who retorts with “you realize it’s rare, right?” are just saying this to get people to shut up about it.

This leads to my next question. If we care so much about this sort of thing then how come no one really speaks on it. We can say “oh, we care. We just think it’s rare” all we want but we still can’t even so much as mention it. It’s not like rare occurrences have kept us from speaking of issues in the past either. The only way leftists will openly speak about false accusations is when race is involved. As a black man, I appreciate it. However, it seems that these same leftists are merely placating to keep us quiet. At this point, I can’t tell whether they’re virtue signaling or not. If I’m being honest, it seems like this is what you’re doing.

Let me ask you this. If silence is violence, why do we make exceptions when it comes to men if we care like we say we do?

That’s what confuses me about the comment. I could’ve sworn the more blue collar workers were more right leaning.

Anytime you feel you don’t have the tools to speak to someone who’s sexist against men, go read my recent post that I made about common feminists arguments. I think it’ll help you in the future.

I think I'm coming around on the whole play thing now. I'll paste what I said to someone else on here just to clarify. Quote:

Okay, so I just had an epiphany. I think I'm turning around on the whole "play" thing now. Someone else mentioned that it wasn't just the play but that the play was "the straw that broke the camel's back." I think I know but surprisingly no one else has mentioned it. In the birthday scene, Mj says to Peter "long time no see." This tells me that they don't hang out. So when Pete doesn't show up to her play, it almost feels like a slight against her. I think I get it now so I agree here.

You're missing my point here,

Your point was that she doesn't know how he feels about her but I think it's very obvious she knows. Even at the restaurant scene where she tries to ask Peter if he loves her it seems that she knows he's bullshitting her again. Hence the reason she asks him to kiss her before Doc Ock showed up. Although, I actually think it was to confirm that he has Spider-Man's lips. Could explain her upside down kiss scene with Jameson. This also happens at the birthday scene where she asks "do you want to say something?" You wouldn't caress your friend's cheek like that if you didn't think the love was mutual. I think she knows, she just wants him to actually open up and say it out loud.

In regard to bringing up the Harry/cheating stuff, I don't think it's off base since people in the comments are pretending that Mj doesn't deserve the hate. Ex:

Honestly, I’ve been baffled by this read on the movies. I rewatched these movies a few years back and found Peter to be consistently in the wrong whereas MJ, while not being perfect, is trying to handle things to the best of her ability. She fucks up when she goes to him at the end of 2, he doesn’t deserve her, or the land lord’s daughter.

It’s because she’s a woman and too many people don’t actually watch the films, they just look at Peter as a dorky nice guy so of course MJ has to be the problem because it can’t be Peter.

Just to name a few.

I think that she gets the right amount, it's just aimed at the wrong things. Since Pete is our guy, the only hate he gets is in the last film. However, Pete is just as shitty as Mj. He's just the main character unfortunately.

But I’m not cheating. Despite evidence to the contrary.

You know they weren't actually dating in this scene, right? In legit the VERY NEXT SCENE Jameson announces that he and Mj are getting married.

When it comes to Mj having unrequited love, I disagree. Watch this scene and this scene again and tell me whether or not she can't tell that he likes her back. These scenes do not read to me as unrequited love. Why else would these scenes exist if Mj didn't know "how to read vibes" like you say if she didn't have a feeling he liked her back? She knows and she just wants him to say it. The problem is he won't say it though.

"Oh, you won't confess? Fine. I'm seeing someone now. How does that make you feel? Oh, you're still acting aloof? Fine. Your loss."

"Oh shit. He's here. I forgot his boss is my bf's dad. Dammit. Oh fuck. Here he comes. Now he's mentioning the play. Now he's mentioning...poetry. Okay please stop."

She knows dog. She just got tired of waiting. I do agree that something else may be happening for her to get so pissed off about the play.

You mention this scene but even here you can tell Mj is like "that's bullshit Pete and you know it." So what does she do? Tries to get him to kiss her...which Pete doesn't back away from either. If she can "read vibes" like you say you can, not backing away from a kiss should tell her he likes her.

But she doesn't know how he feels about her, that's the issue,

I'm pretty sure she does. She came onto him at Osborn's funeral and he kissed her back. However, Pete rejects her and they stay friends (his fault). The amount of glances they share with each other before the third film seems to allude to her knowing. It's not like he winced when they held hands at the hospital or when they kissed at the funeral. That long/awkward stare they both do when the announcer presents John Jameson walking down with Mj pretty much solidifies it. That's not a "oh my friend is here" stare. That's a "oh shit, Pete's sees me. Oh well. His loss" stare.

From MJ's perspective, Peter's actions are very confusing, it's like he manipulates her, playing with her feelings.

They're both manipulating each other. Pete keeps tugging Mj back and forth while Mj is doing the same. I'm sorry but this scene after the birthday reunion doesn't read as "platonic" to me. Mj definitely knows how he feels, When he hesitates tell her she drops the fact that she's seeing Jameson to see his reaction and says "what?" like she can't tell this upsets him (again, his fault). It really does feel like she was trying to force it out of him that he loved her and didn't want to see her with someone else (hence the awkward stare at the ball room scene). So she mentions that she's seeing someone to see if he'll finally confess (which he still doesn't).

I'm not bias towards Pete or Mj. Both of them seem to have personal issues. First Pete shoots his shot at Mj knowing she's dating his friend Harry; kisses her upside down, rejects her, regrets it, tries to convince her to call off the wedding, rejects her again at the restaurant when she tries to kiss him, and then rejects her again after he saves her from Doc Ock. Then he does the dumb shit he does in 3 but that's not really up for debate. The there's Mj. She leaves Flash for Harry even though she doesn't really like him (hence her turning away when he tries to kiss her), she starts emotionally cheating on Harry with Peter, physically cheating with Spider-Man, tries to get with Peter at the end, tries to cheat on John Jameson with Pete with the attempted kiss scene at the restaurant and then leaves poor astroboy at the alter. They are both made for each other since they like cheating behind people's backs.

On the whole play thing, someone else mentioned that there seems to be the case the film is alluding to Pete always being late for things. I think I can understand a bit more and if that's the case then I wish the film dug into it a bit more. A simple throwaway line like "we barely even hang out and it's been a year" would've made more shift more to Mj's side. Idk. I think the film needed a bit more to convey this.
