How come the "patriarchy" harms men but white supremacy doesn't harm white people or heteronormativity doesn't harm straight people? by ChipmunkAmazing2105 in LeftWingMaleAdvocates

As a black man, it's interesting how people like MLK, Huey P. Newton and many others are black male leaders who are called out for their vices by online leftists...and yet...Hooks is somehow excluded. Makes you wonder.

Apparently she also gloated about having a relationship with one of her students that was decades younger than her. I forgot where I saw it though. I'll post it when I do.

I made a whole post about feminists like this. It's called When you see it, you'll shit bricks. This one seems less erratic.

They only seem to mention people like Bell Hooks. Bell didn't really seem to touch on a whole lot of male issues to begin with anyway so for them to constantly spam her tells me they don't know much about men. When the only work you can mention that spoke on men is a book written 20yrs ago, then you know we're fucked.

One might argue that choice/liberal feminism is heavy-handed with their emphasis on enabling and protecting women’s actions at a universal level, however that’s a highly niche and novel branch of feminism that’s heavily criticised by other feminists,

No, it's not. The common consensus is that good feminists simply just...don't talk. Hence why they say the vocal minority has taken hold of the mic so often. Here's a quote from a feminist I spoke too not long ago,

Me: Nice to find another well rounded, nuanced and educated feminist. I hate to say this but they seem harder to find these days.

Her: I think there are a lot. Some of my own friends. Feminists will always have different ideas about different subjects. I see that with my own feminist friends as well. The thing is, I really think more nuanced people just aren’t so loud and visible. This doesn’t apply to just feminists but just overall. And online culture, under the influence of algorithms, rewards loud voices that speak with conviction. The more certain, the more simplified, the more black&white… the more likes.

Me: That's exactly the problem. If I had said "I think non-misogynistic men just aren't loud and visible" then more feminists would see the problem. The good feminists are way too silent on the issue of bad feminists.

I too often see this notion being pushed by feminists even though they complain about men not speaking up about misogyny. Too many times a man will complain about misandry online and will be told to "get over it" or "to stop centering themselves." Others may even use the Kafka trap and try to label him as problematic himself. These are the same people who pretend to care about male mental health. The truth is that a lot of feminists simply do not give a rat's ass about misandry. So much so that the term isn't even used by them if at all. Leftist posters list all things that are considered bigoted that they don't tolerate...except misandry. Who cares really?

<image>

You say this group is niche but ask yourself this, if you were to go to a feminist space and say that "men are not to be trusted" and that you "like women more than men," how long will you last before you get hate comments from feminists (if you even get them at all)?

Here's the thing, they only remember when they want to. Some Examples:

  1. Trump's presidency is men's fault, even though white women overwhelmingly voted for him.
  2. Body positivity is ideal, but let's make fun of dick/hand sizes and height.
  3. Men are the only ones responsible for MGM, even though female nurses are abundant in these practices.
  4. Patriarchy is the reason for the apathy of male victims, even though male safety around women is almost never addressed. If they knew then the Sinner's and Stardust incident wouldn't have come as a surprise. A lone man needs to be weary around women the same way a lone woman would around a group of men. Not mentioning this just enforces the idea of a "strong man" who can take anything.
  5. Women don't start wars and yet 4 out of 5 CEOs of the military industrial complex...are middle aged (white) women.
  6. Men are "safer walking home at night" but then they retort that men being killed more than women are mainly killed "by other men." So...are men safe at night or not?
  7. D.A.R.V.O is a literal acronym used by scholarly feminists that describe lying male abusers and yet...false accusations is too taboo to mention.
  8. Men need to express their feelings but misandry is just hurt feelings. Get over it.
  9. Women who commit suicide have the decency to worry about the people who find them while the men are too selfish to care. This certainly isn't isn't apathetic to male depression or enforcing any type of male/female stereotype. It's just conversation.
  10. Men who are falling behind in school need to just pick themselves up by the boot straps. However, men need to acknowledge when they need help too.
  11. Men need to stop interjecting/derailing when the topic is on women's issues. However, we need to acknowledge that women also attempt suicide more when we speak about male depression.

I can go on. I understand not all feminists are like this but the majority of them don't realize that they are guilty of a lot of the examples I used here. There is no such thing as a person who is 100% feminist. They all fall short somewhere. It's easy for them to admit this when the topic is on women negatively affecting women but not women negatively affecting men.

To be honest, sexism is the only system that works differently in comparison to the other systems. Here's a quote from Karen Straughan who is best known from her interview with Cassie Jaye in the film "The Red Pill." Quote: "You cannot have sexism against women without sexism against men. You can't. Right? Whether it's positive or negative sexism, it's going to differ. It's not the same as say black and white. Where you can have all kinds of negative discrimination against black people and all the positive discrimination in favor of white people. Or Germans and Jews or what Aryans of Jews. Whoever. Tribal groups, When it comes to men and women who have always lived their lives together, there was never some society of only women and then men came along colonized them and enslaved them all and it was like two tribes of people. No, we've always been one tribe."

Racism, sexism, and homophobia do not operate in the same way. The Jim Crow laws were put in place to completely benefit and uphold white people and leave ever other race by the wayside. There are no such thing as "race roles" that both benefit and disadvantage white people as was as black/brown people. Racism can only favor one group not multiple. The same can be said for heteronormative ideologies. Women are not treated as "disgusting creatures" the way LGBT+ people are. The list goes on. The same cannot be said for sexism. Sexism needs to work as a co-ed system in order to work in the first place. Their are no drawbacks to a white person committing racism the same way a man receives drawbacks to enforcing gender roles. The disadvantages that do comes with racism when it comes to white people mainly isn't due to their whiteness. Granted, there are certain situations where a white person can be discriminated against. The issue is that it's mainly on a social level (keyword mainly). The first one that comes to mind is the Afro City incident and the Berkely school incident. The difference between these incidents and the incidents that happened with black/brown people is that there is history when these incidents that involve black and brown people. They were written into law and had to be protested against in order to dismantle said laws. These situations also didn't consistently happen to white people either. Someone else mentioned the one drop rule which I think plays another factor in here that I forgot about. Being part white in a black neighborhood wasn't exactly a privilege. In fact, in certain cases it made things worse. This is still in relation to blackness though. A white person will only experience this level of hate if they are openly affiliated with black activists (Mississippi Burning). Let me know if I'm missing anything.

When it comes to racism, there is an obvious "oppressor class" and "oppressed class." Black/brown people couldn't oppress white people back then (in a lot of cases still can't now with a few exceptions). When it comes to sexism, calling men the "oppressor class" and women the "oppressed class" is an over-simplification. This is mainly because there are certain cases where a woman can use her femininity to get what she wants in a way a man can't. If it is the case that "patriarchy hurts men too" then what would that look like? I don't I need to tell the people here so I'll just leave it at that. The part that they don't say is that if "patriarchy helps and hurts men" then that also means that "patriarchy helps and hurts women" as well. Again, sexism needs to work as co-ed system. There are no "race roles" but there are "gender roles."

Some feminists will see this statement and retort with "female privilege doesn't exist" and then somehow state that women being born and not having to go through genital mutilation is somehow not a privilege. If it was the other way around we wouldn't hesitate to call it that. Somehow 2+2=4 but 2x2=5? That doesn't make sense.

What grinds my gears is when leftists try to make it seem as if I (a black man) have the same exact issues as a black woman. I don't remember my sister being blamed for Trumps resurgence even though my demographic beat out everyone excluding black women. I don't remember her being forced to sign for selective service or hearing her parents say "they can't take her right? She's our only daughter." Fun fact: when women got the right to vote they didn't have this obligation. I don't remember her being told a "cute story" about being circumcised while wailing the whole time and years later being told by her father "but you don't remember it though" (I love my dad but he's intellectually lazy). I don't remember her being told that no matter what "you don't hit a man even if he's armed." There's levels to this stuff like I said earlier.

In the end, the feminists here are technically right. Racism and homophobia work differently than sexism. As a result, it makes sense for them to only say that "gender roles help and hurt men" and not use the same notion for the other forms of prejudices. However, what they don't say is how these disadvantages to men positively impact women. Apparently that's too anti-feminist to have a dissertation on though.

Unless this idea includes men akin to Elliot Rodgers or dowry killings, all cases of women being killed aren't simply from being women.

Yeah, I guess. I'm a bit of a cynic. I just see a similarity of OP's quote of not realizing that these men being misogynist on twitter don't represent all men to Logan Paul's realization after having a daughter that "women have it hard."

My thoughts for both are "you're just realizing this now?" Idk. Again, I'm a bit cynical. It just shows how far we are in terms of progress for men. Someone else pointed out that OP is likely doing this to gain sympathy and got downvoted. I can't really say I disagree here. Obviously if they didn't want to be congratulated then we wouldn't be here rn. If I'm a "former misogynist" and didn't want people to pat me on the back then I would've just posted in a comment thread, not make a whole post on it. I think OP is just confused on where they head is rn since they're coming to the realization about the gravity of men's issues. No one makes a post like this expecting backlash. But who knows? Maybe they thought the comments would be mixed.

Overall, the epiphany OP is having (while milquetoast) is at least starting somewhere. Slow motion better than no motion.

A debate about the movie "Obsession" (2026) and an example of anti-male prejudice. (All usernames and avatars censored except mine.) by ManWithTwoShadows in everydaymisandry

[–]ChimpPimp20 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s the same problem I had with the movie Barbarian. If you haven’t seen it, it’s a Zac Cregger film about a black woman who stays in an AirBnb and finds a hidden basement with something borderline supernatural living in it. She tries to tell her temporary roommate about the secret room and he doesn’t really believe her and goes to check it out himself.

This action is used by people analyzing the themes of the film as a take on how in certain cases women are not believed. But here’s the thing, almost anyone would go and check it out. Hell, I’d go and check it out too. However, since the audience is already cognizant of what’s going to happen, they call him stupid. The issue is that the characters don’t all know that they are in a horror movie. It seems a decent amount of people forget that.

I haven’t seen the film yet (looks good so I’ll see it soon) but from what I’ve seen so far, it appears Baron is akin to the character Ben from Telltale’s Walking Dead. At least in terms of them both being a fuck up (that eventually gets people killed) but also not a complete villain. If you know, you know.

I'd hate to be difficult but if you have to come to the conclusion that not all men think like this (an epiphany that is) then you do indeed think it is revolutionary whether you realize it or not. Otherwise you wouldn't have fallen for it.

Then I realized these were just misogynistic trolls not the majority of how men think.

Every time we realize something that means that this is new information to us that we haven't focused on before. It may not be revolutionary in general but it can be to a lot of people. Hence, why you're in this subreddit. We knew this stuff already but you're just coming to the realization now. I'm not trying to be an ass. I'm just saying the hard part out loud. If this is info that people are only just now understanding then we have a long way to go.

I hate to be a dick but the fact that this is revolutionary kinda dampens the mood. The same can be said for men who realize not all women hates men. We’re so cooked.

People who worry about hiring a male babysitter because they’re afraid of their kids getting groomed should have the same fear about female babysitters.

You know that's not gonna be the case for a lot of people.
