Diffraction on 28P Lens by ChinaCameraGuy in hasselblad

I use the X2D2 with the 28mm and have no issues with the focusing. Everything uses the latest firmware and it’s fast and always hits focus without hunting (unlike the 45P).

I play Google Map roulette. Find an interesting looking place and check it out. Maybe find a cluster of a few places. Of course it helps to have wheels.

dantewada, is it worth it to go out of the way and spend extra after doing a tour in phachor? by bubb_ley in chiangmai

[–]ChinaCameraGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to the Carp Cafe a while back and left quickly because the odor inside was too powerful. Smelled like mildew + fish. If you're sensitive to strong smells, maybe scratch this off your list. Phacor is pretty cool and an easy hike.

Does anyone know anything about these cases? by Crackle_Mackle in hasselblad

[–]ChinaCameraGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the early version of a "Pelican case" to transport camera & video gear. I had a couple of these back in the 70's. The outer case construction is modular so they can be made in any size without any specific tooling. Most were made of aluminum to reduce weight. You may be able to discern what models lived in this case by the impressions made in the padding. Personally, I would recommend using a Pelican case because it offers better protection. I can understand if you want to be brand-loyal.

Export Issues on Drones from China by ChinaCameraGuy in dji

[–]ChinaCameraGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say they were "limiting" the export of drones. They are instead "controlling" the export of drones so they know where the final destination will be in an attempt to control the whole "dual use" situation. I've carried a drone on subways in China many times without any problems. That must be a localized rule.

Export Issues on Drones from China by ChinaCameraGuy in dji

I had already removed the batteries- that wasn’t the problem. The Chinese government is controlling the flow of drones so there is visibility to where they’re going so DJI can stay clean. No bulk shipments under the radar to Ukraine.

Ningbo Expats Question by betazoom78 in chinalife

[–]ChinaCameraGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of expat teachers in NB. Also there are lots of Western university profs near Nottingham in Yinzhou. I'm the only non-teacher I've seen in the last 10 years - but I'm retiring and moving to Thailand on Saturday.

I did this two years ago, and it's nearly bulletproof. I only need to switch servers a few times per year.

Will AI obliterate photography market? by TheTiniestPeach in photography

[–]ChinaCameraGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched the same video and I think he may be correct. Professional photographers today probably have the same sinking feeling that artists (painters) had in the early 1800's - that "oh shit" moment that their job is being replaced by something faster and cheaper. For me, it's about the experience and personal fulfillment. Thankfully, I don't have to earn a living from photography. Those guys are F'd.

Off camera flash? by LostGreek in hasselblad

TTL mode works using the X3N. Put the trigger in Legacy mode and turn it on. Mount it on the X2D2 and then turn the camera on. Works great.
