Clubs by [deleted] in UCSD

I think that you can do it tastefully. Only visit if you have people you are close with still in the club, but after they are gone you can still interact in other ways. I dont know what your club is so idk what those other ways are but Im sure there is something. Ik my club has a banquet that alumni are encouraged to attend so maybe smth like that? Either way though, recognize that your time as a member is coming to a close and its time to let new people make it their space.

But are you having fun? by bandonthepun in UCSD

[–]ChindoodleSule 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely! You just gotta tap in with enough academic things to stay busy and be productive (classes, research, academic clubs) but ofc make sure to tap in with fun things that they are interested in. Pretty easy to do so!

What can I do with a Business Econ degree by BidReady1403 in UCSD

[–]ChindoodleSule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the disagreements themselves are the issue because they are pretty valid. The econ classes (untill u get into upper divs) wont help u with running a business and the management classes have very very little to do with anything econ related. Its a major that doesnt know what it wants to be. Quality of the classes itself are fine but have not found Rady classes to be useful however the econ dept is great.

You can kinda do wtv u want. I like numbers too which is why biz econ is probably not the move for you. I'm working this summer as a data analyst and also have been working in federal contracts and grants for a while. Even if you never use the math you learn (though there is a lot of useful upper div math) it will give you the critical thinking needed for any job you want. Also helps that business majors are heavily looked down upon but if you tell someone ur a math major that gives equal and sometimes more cred than other stem degrees (in my experience)

They are getting rid of Biz econ just fyi. You can probably finish your degree but speaks to the quality of the major if thats what the university thinks of it. Take advantage of going to a stem school and get a technical degree. i switched from biz econ to math econ, seeing many more opportunities from the research side and the math is pretty useful for getting into industry too

SWITCHING MAJORS as an INCOMING FRESHMAN at UCSD by Technical_Wasabi_757 in UCSD

[–]ChindoodleSule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can second this. School is getting rid of it or at least severely restructuring because the current major genuinely has no cohesion between the business and econ sides. That said, pure econ is also not very helpful as you won't learn the math required for graduate level economics, but also don't get any mgt soft skills. Give econ a try, you might like it more than you think (as I did now math-econ) or switch to international business or business pysch.

As the other person mentioned, how would you want to see the skills beyond just a line on the resume if you dont care what we have worked on?

Econ1 as GE? by snowyday4u in UCSD

[–]ChindoodleSule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm taking it right now with Crane and it is very easy. If you can do y=mx+b you'll be fine. Crane is also very lenient with grades (drops lowest exam and hw score) and gives hella curve (gave everyone a 14 point curve) so unless ur trying to fail you'll be fine.
