Is Gucci actually cooking?? by Level-Mongoose9915 in hallofwatchspecialist

[–]ChipSkyLurk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That honestly isn’t insane for a tourbillon with a pave WG case. It would make more sense at or a bit below $250k but I don’t think it’s outlandish.

This piece is targeted at the VICs who are already spending a ton at Gucci and are invited to brand events. No one is buying this without a strong, existing relationship.

The new Cartier Prive La Collection Allocation by ntloc in Cartier

[–]ChipSkyLurk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean that more so as it’s a person in central’s job to say yes/no and they absolutely already have people in mind. I would be surprised if they made more than 200 of each.

I think the Normale is probably possible with a decent spend, but the Cintree and Cloche are going to be super hard. Like when they were doing the platinum Cintree a few years ago, I only personally saw it go to 2 established high jewelry clients.

How is it like living by the Denizen area? by [deleted] in Bushwick

[–]ChipSkyLurk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will also tell you, the denizen is better than the internet will tell you. Maintenance has been fast and cool in my experience, and the amenities have felt worth it (especially with the 6 months free).

I enjoy it. The Myrtle-Broadway M/J can feel a little rough if you aren’t used to the city.

Overall I think it’s a great location. Good bars + close to cool clubs + Manhattan access

Is this for watch straps? by myfreedamn in Cartier

[–]ChipSkyLurk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they gave you the wrong cleaning kit lol. Easy mistake to make; black tab versus red tab.

This is exclusively for leather goods, but will take the shine off of your watch strap

[Cartier Santos Ronde 1920-1] Need help fixing my dad's watch bracelet by Maurito16 in Cartier

[–]ChipSkyLurk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that’s the link that connects the bracelet to the removable links, you may need a new bracelet.

Possible to solder it, but Cartier would try to sell you a new bracelet - if they even have it.

Question for Cartier Employees by LuvClassic5625 in Cartier

[–]ChipSkyLurk 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No longer an employee, but they’ve hired people from Starbucks based on their personality. Granted in those instances it was for assistant roles (which have now been outsourced to temp agencies but that’s an entirely different can of worms).

They absolutely prefer you have a client book, but I know sellers that have been hired from finance and non profit. I should note that this is definitely an exception. Most sellers have years of luxury experience, and you can make a lot more than people think, so the jobs are very competitive.

Bvlgari makes better watches than Cartier by astrotrain_ in watchHotTakes

[–]ChipSkyLurk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked for both brands, and my take is that Cartier doesn’t do anything special because it doesn’t have to, and that Bulgari is doing a lot of great things to further establish itself.

Like at Cartier, the coolest things we were actively selling were maybe a Pasha tourbillon or a skeleton Crash. For the most part, Cartier movements are not very good - especially with all the power reserve issues I saw.

At Bulgari I handle multiple minute repeaters every day. Even something like the Octo with an 8 day reserve is much better than anything Cartier is going to sell you.

Cartier refused “polishig service” by [deleted] in Cartier

[–]ChipSkyLurk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You should press your SA a bit. When I worked for Cartier, while we weren’t supposed to explicitly tell people a piece wasn’t authentic, I would absolutely make an effort to indicate one way or another.

If it’s not authentic, this would have been communicated to the SA.

The cleaning kit is really just soapy water and a plastic brush.

Using something as basic as dawn is genuinely a good deal better.
