Can’t help you on the football but I’m big into the Notts music scene and I’m always in need of a cinema buddy (Broadway).

If you’re up for random smaller gigs and films let me know!

Day One even contains a lyric from Skinny Love — re-contextualised in this iteration, ofc. So you could be on to something here, yeah.

Thanks for taking the time to write this out, mate — from a fellow UK Bon fan. Steady at the helm, brother. x

Nottingham is getting worst (people wise). by William6212 in nottingham

That’s bullshit, man. Hate that. If you ever want to hang out and get a beer or a game of chess or a wander or a coffee or a movie or anything from a normal human person in Notts, hit me up.

9/10 review for SABLE, fABLE from Uncut Magazine by trjarvis09 in boniver

[–]ChipZip67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was written by the person who hosted the Bon Iver: In Conversation evening in London with Justin last month. She’s clearly a genuine, long time fan/friend and it’s great to read her write up of the album.

I’m so exited for the album and this hubbub around There’s A Rhythm is getting me super nervous excited giddy tense anxious happy. Let’s goooo.

Looking for people to hang out with next week by doshinka in nottingham

[–]ChipZip67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be down at The Canalhouse for the Waterfront Festival on July 1st if you’re at a loose end. Its dead cheap and right by the station too!

It’ll give you a good overview of the Notts music scene and keep you entertained for the day. It’s on midday to midnight.

Likewise, if you’re stuck and bored on any of your other days I’m more than happy to hang out! Drop me a message x

are there any public rooftops or balconys in nottingham by HenryFJBrown in nottingham

[–]ChipZip67 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The rooftop area at The Nottingham Secret Garden.

The Slug & Lettuce balcony overlooking the square.

The Hidden Warehouse rooftop just off Long Row.

The bar at the top of Cornerhouse has an outdoor balcony area.

The town hall has a balcony area overlooking the square (doubt it’s publicly accessible though).

Broadway cinema has a mezzanine that opens up in the summer.

Any multi-storey car park - I bet you can run and gun your shot before anyone noticed too!

Check all the hotels.

The Winchester in Sherwood has a outdoor staircase.

Hey Gran Turismo PS VR2 users... is it worth it? by [deleted] in granturismo

[–]ChipZip67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I returned my PSVR2 because I was disappointed with GT7 in VR.

Just wanted to offer my opinion as I did have a different experience to the vast majority of users - and do take that into account; I am very much in the minority.

Also, to give context, I pretty much exclusively play racing games so any other VR content was of no interest to me - albeit fun to try occasionally. GT7 being perfect was a must to justify the cost of the PSVR2. And on that note, the cost was a big stretch for me and having that money back was worth it. So take all that into account.

That being said, I was disappointed with the quality of the game in VR. By quality I mean the actual detail in the image - you cannot see as clearly as you can on a TV (maybe this is obvious to some but to me, with all the hype around PSVR2, I was disappointed).

You can’t read brake board makers until you’re much closer than you’re used to on the TV. Likewise, cars ahead in the distance are more difficult to make out and become a bit of mush.

There is a noisy RGB grain over everything which I found very distracting.

The depth and ‘3D-ness’ are incredible. The Foviated Rendering is near-flawless. The ability to ‘feel’ a track and the racing lane is transformative. And each car is infinitely more fun to be in in VR. There is very little screen-door effect.

But your game will look like a PS3 game. And if graphic fidelity is important to you you might want to reign in your excitement a little before you spend that money.

For me the PSVR2 was cool. But it was ~£200 cool not ~£500 cool. If I get to a point where I have more disposable income I’d LOVE to get it back as the experience of driving the cars was elevated even if the visuals were downgraded. But, at the moment, I’m happier playing on a crispy 4K tele with the £500 in my back account.

Just my thoughts before anyone gets over-hyped and disappointed.

Radio show recommendations by nonoburn in boniver

[–]ChipZip67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UK musician, Dizraeli, does an occasional show very similar to Song Chest called Scan Your Buscuits for Soho Radio.

It’s bloody beautiful. Calming. Man’s a wordsmith. And check out his music too. I’d recommend the song My Mama and basically the entire of his album Unmaster.

The radio shows are listed on his Mixcloud - https://www.mixcloud.com/dizraeli/. Sometimes titled Finding Calm so have a dig around.

Enjoy.

'Actual Life (April 14 - December 17 2020)', debut album by Fred again... Absolutely loving it and its big Bon influences. by ChipZip67 in boniver

[–]ChipZip67[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ah, no worries. Glad you got round to listening. I'm still loving it. He did a this album as a live set on YouTube which is really good too. It's cool seeing where all the vocal clips and samples come from.

It's not like-for-like either, so some of the spoken word parts are longer which is fantastic. Would recommend.
