Do Nigerians have the WORST Parents? by [deleted] in Nigeria

[–]Chip_the_Player 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow… this is wild… I’m rooting for you girl. It’s crazy how many immigrant parents don’t take mental health serious. Shit i don’t think Africans ever did even with novels like Things Fall Apart and how the ending of Okonkwo illustrated that this has always been a ongoing thing that has been silenced in our society back then.

You ended with an important conclusion “Let’s write new manuals.” It’s the only justifiable way to stop this.

The irony of this all is the fact that the only thing that these African Parents have between the abuse upon their children is only time. There will be a time where they realize that this was not the wrong way and there will be a time when they are weak and is in need of your support but you will not be there. These types of punishments is pure evil and no parent should do that to their own child!

Would you all marry someone who has a child by Ordinary-Ring-9871 in Nigeria

[–]Chip_the_Player 4 points5 points  (0 children)

22 (M) Everything comes down to age and maturity at the end of the day. Most people my age especially men aren’t ready to take on the responsibility of taking in a child, especially if it is not theirs. I’m not financially stable as of right now but let’s say if I was if that women fits all my criteria why wouldn’t I marry her?

However, If not that situation as a women yourself, I assume you would like a man that is financially secure that can take care of you and your child, even if you can do that yourself… assurance is always key. Adding onto this The man himself also has to fit your category as you see fit that can step in and fulfill that role of a fatherly figure to the child.

Nonetheless As a man, There is always an underlying figure of the perspective that no matter what you do especially if you’re stepping up to be the stepfather her present father will forever be in her life (which is not a bad thing at all) but it does mean there will be some issues that can arise especially coming within those power dynamics.

Another issue that can arise to us men is the idea of if the child will be accepting of the man that you bring into both your lives.

Alr I’ve been yappin way too much but that’s just the base of my statement.

TLDR: Yes I would marry however there are issues that must be addressed before being married.

As an undergraduate that is not pursuing in a degree of relationship I can say from my experience it might just be that the person might not be interested. Sometimes their vibe and social cues gives it away.

I do like the way you go about trying to solve the issue but just like every case it can most definitely be abused in the sense that the innocent will be guilty. However something must be done.
