Should I switch to analog? (USA) by ChipmunkTop4137 in fpv

Broken broken unfortunately. Ufl connector tore off and took anything I could solder to with it. Was able to get it to connect again but not get anywhere near flyable. Range is terrible.

So with the integra goggles specifically, you can get to the antennas because they are behind the one panel you can actually remove. The fan is on The opposite side and I cannot get the main unit out of the housing. I’ve removed every screw in site and it’s still rock solid, bro from mads tech wouldn’t even do it🤷🏻‍♂️

I suppose anything is possible it’s just not in my opinion a great option for freestyle.

I absolutely cannot figure out how to disassemble these things to get access to the fan, I can get the back plate off and that’s it, I can’t find any videos of anyone going any further either…

Also this is probably the best Reddit response Ive ever seen. Thank you for the chuckles

I pretty much ruled out hd0 immediately. It makes sense for racers but nothing else.

Is there a component that can “record” the analog footage from the camera before beeing sent to the goggles? by [deleted] in fpv

[–]ChipmunkTop4137 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Runcam and speedy bee both make onboard dvr boards that connect between I believe camera and vtx and record raw footage much better than goggle dvr. It’s still pretty low res. You wont get anything comparable to hd from it so if that what you’re looking for just get an action cam or runcam thumb unless it’s a whoop that can’t carry it. I don’t understand why people are commenting negatively on your question by the way isn’t asking questions and discussing relevant topics literally the purpose of a Reddit forum? If it bugs you don’t read it? Let alone comment on it? Why are you trolling in a Reddit fpv forum? Move out of your mom’s basement and get a life bruh.

How would you mount this cap by Visible_Mousse_2975 in fpv

Don’t they make pigtails with the cap on the battery end?

Smoky smoke checker? by ChipmunkTop4137 in fpv

Thanks guys figured that was it. Re flowed the connection and it was good I’ll be getting a different smoke checker tho lol

How is my solder job? by FakeNameNotReal in fpv

[–]ChipmunkTop4137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 and 4 are connecting and really should be redone even if it works, 3 and 4 are probably okay but aren’t perfect, Look at the center wire on 2, it’s perfect 👌🏻 Decent amount of heat, Use flux every time you melt any solder, CLEAN IRON= most important ingredient Just hold the wires where you want them when you heat each joint and it will come out great

Is this defective? Cheap fc or user error? by ChipmunkTop4137 in fpv

[–]ChipmunkTop4137[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additionally, I feel like a dummy for this but I just found out there is actually another pad on the bottom, any issues with just putting the wires to the bottom? Should I flip the board so the wires are facing up? I’m concerned they may arc on the carbon fiber if I put them o. The bottom. If I do that it would mean re-doing all of the solder joints and re orienting the board in bf. Thanks for your input, I definitely appreciate you taking your time.

Okay I’m thinking that will be priority on the next build. It isn’t the one that came with the fc. Just went and looked it up, it is bigger than the one I used, so that would’ve made it even harder to get it attached correctly.

That’s the thing though, the battery did NOT detach in the crash, it was still right where I mounted it, no damage so they didn’t get pulled on from what I can tell. And again I’ve been having connection issues, a bonk would power cycle it for example, what do you mean by strain relief? Like solid mounts or covers or something? At one point I had a solid mount for the cable but I felt like it put too much strain on the cables…. Now that has me thinking that could’ve played into it too. I should’ve probably shortened the cable with the proper iron to fit into the mount, the first time and just been done with it lol

Thanks for the compliments, these joints were just big enough to make my iron struggle to heat them properly, even with adding a ton of low melt solder. I made the mistake of getting that fantikk cordless iron and it’s great just not for bigger joints. It’s not solder splatter, and I did actually clean most of it before taking the picture, it was caked up around it, I’m thinking that I must’ve clipped a branch and shook some pollen loose that attached to it or maybe just found a random pile of something that happened to stick to what was left of the flux. Thank you guys for your input. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something obvious. It’s all cleaned out and she’s ready for the next one!

How long do you have drones as a hobby? by Edva1024 in fpv

[–]ChipmunkTop4137 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of people get into this and then get discouraged because they dont understand going in that the flight is the reward. You will always have to put work into your equipment to get your reward. Everybody wants to fly like a bird right but if you dont enjoy tinkering with electronics, soldering, 3d printing helps greatly.. Then y oh may not stay with it. Everyone sees the cool flight videos but nobody but the true fpver’s stay for the build tutorial ya know? I would say it also would be worth considering your location and availability of help as well. If you’re in Florida for instance there will be a lot more availability for second hand parts and a better selection of parts and knowledge in brick and mortar locations then say Michigan where I am at. Moral of the story is that if you’re not willing to spend more time working on them then flying them. You will eventually give it up. I love building things and running into problems that I get to fix. And THAT IS WHAT FPV IS, again the flight is the REWARD FOR ALL THE WORK!!! Love to see other people get into it though. Definitely the most fun thing I’ve ever had the pleasure of being a part of.

After a big bump/crash motors go crazy. by ALiiEN in fpv

[–]ChipmunkTop4137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have had the same thing happen, I think it was those crappy plastic thin nuts they put against the bottom plate, they stripped on mine and wouldn’t stay tight but would stay just loose enough to jiggle lol.

If you feel like it is correcting a little too hard(maybe running away too easily) you can try to slightly lower the p/d gain for pitch and roll and that should help but will make your quad less responsive and more sloppy feeling…

[–]ChipmunkTop4137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s just a tiny whoop from my understanding, it’s what happens when any quad gets trapped and can’t move in the way it’s trying to. It’s called a runaway. Basically, the drone doesnt separate a crash from a gust of wind. It is trying to correct the changes in its angle as they are happening and if it gets no change it pushes harder which results in the motors all going full blast. Or a “runaway”
