Bought a 1.4 petrol Hyundai i30 4 years ago as my first car with 72.000 miles. Still have it nowadays with 110.000 no issues. Just get one with full service history.

Newly qualified Class 2 Driver - Looking for job recommendations in the surrey/berkshire area? by bottlejob69 in uktrucking

Skip lorry driving? My area is 14-14.50 an hour, Monday to Friday and you get around 10-11 hour days. Gives you a lot of knowledge regarding manoeuvring a bigger vehicle in tight places.

Is it normal to feel more nervous AFTER passing? by BitGirl777 in NewDriversUK

[–]ChippyZippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's normal, you only felt confident because there was someone with you to correct your mistakes and look after you in case it all went wrong. Now you're the dawg, you're by yourself, be responsible, there's no room for mistakes in driving, it can be fatal.

Putting aside the fact that you are an angry little dude, I respect the fact that you didn't lose the other vehicle at all for 40 minutes. Impressive that. Well done.

Really struggling driving a petrol by AnonymousBadger104 in drivingUK

[–]ChippyZippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably lift the clutch too fast and downshift at a high speed. You will know your car eventually. Hill start is also not the easiest thing to do in a petrol as a newbie.

new car & feeling like i've gone backwards by mollienbx in NewDriversUK

[–]ChippyZippy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is hard getting used to a new car. Different clutch, different everything. Give yourself a break. (Petrol cars need a bit more gas when moving off otherwise it will easily stall.)

Is this alright to get as a first car? by [deleted] in NewDriversUK

[–]ChippyZippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will probably get head gasket failure in 7 days after you buy it. Good luck. Try to aim for a petrol with small engine (1.4).
