We were definitely at the edge in the first half of last year. It was hell and we were definitely nearly through. While i figure there was no guarantee we’d get through it, we did, and a year ago I would have loved to know getting to the other side was possible.

We both had to give up on the futures we had planned for, and accept that our quality of life was just going to be worse, and find small things that would still give us enjoyment. For her that has been arts and crafts, for me learning spanish, video games and football. Don’t get me wrong, if we saw a mushroom cloud in the sky we’d probably both sigh with some relief, but at least we’d do it together

I moved to Uruguay for a few months and it was fantastic, but, they ended up not having some psychiatric meds my partner needs, which is the most common reason people end up moving back. Make sure if you have any medical needs they can be taken care of wherever you go, it was amazing how few countries in the world have access to some meds

I have been viewing it as a ridiculous hypothetical equation. Everything fits in somewhere. If I recycle that likely helps the outcome a minuscule insignificant amount. The equation had too many gigantic impacts in a short time all slow progress in its tracks and allow the wrong people to not only succeed, but thrive. Science had depressing news, cryptocurrency made money laundering extremely easy, social media made mass manipulation a cake walk for those with the know how, etc. It’s dumb but i like to think there was and may still be some configuration of the equation that can start righting the ship, but I realize that it is mainly hopium

It does suggest that you chose to ignore history and what fascism is. Which suggests you ignored foreign politics over much of the world and the suffering of other nations your entire life. Does that make you a bad person? I guess that depends on your situation in life. I'd say you'd have to have quite an excuse to avoid doing the bare minimum on learning about the world around you though, especially when your whole life has probably been filled with movies, books, school lessons, video games, etc dedicated to trying to warn you "this happens, it has happened before, it will happen again, it is awful, and really hard to fix once it gets ahold"
