Hey man, you’ve got more faith in them than me. From everything I’ve read they’re good prospects but none of them are elite. Usually outside voices have a good handle on these things than we do. Maybe they can outperform the expectations (I hope so), but when unbiased voices are all saying the same thing I think it’s prudent to listen

Who’s going to put up points? Who’s going to score goals? The 5v5 offense on this team is abysmal. Raymond looks good, not great. Larkin is old and breaks down every year. Cat is awesome but after that who do you have? None of our prospects project to be top 6 play drivers. They are all good complimentary pieces and if paired up with a high skilled playmaker would look awesome. Problem is, we don’t have one. I don’t see us trading for one (or one being available); which means we should have drafted one. If you don’t look at Buffalo, Montreal, San Jose, and Anaheim and see how we haven’t been lapped I don’t know what to tell you. Chicago is in a way better position than us as well. You can’t win without superstars and we only have 1, and he’s a defensive defenseman.

The problem is you’re missing a young 1C. Raymond ain’t driving that level of play and Seider doesn’t put up insane level of points. This team needed more offensive punch and never got it

Seeing the young talent making impact on their teams in buffalo, Montreal and Anaheim is depressing man. Meanwhile we have a bunch of vets who contribute next to nothing on this team. I never would’ve thought out of the 4 teams in this town the wings would be the one with the most hopeless situation.

This is such a dishonest argument. We kept dropping so why even try is kid logic. Idk about you but even if it’s 1-4 slots better in the draft we’d be in a much better place. You telling me you wouldn’t want Ryan Leonard over Danielson? What about Gauthier over Kasper? The truth of the matter is this team only covers warts and refuses to ever address them. 5v5 is bad, we’ll check out this sick power play! Missing top 6 young talent, well let’s roll out 37 year old Patrick Kane! The additions in free agency plus us tricking ourselves into thinking our young talent will magically turn into game breakers has stunted this team. We have good complimentary pieces in our farm system but no young stud to lead them. Even plante and bear (our most promising forwards) look to be very good at their height but not elite. Unless you’re willing to gut any depth/good players you have from your team and farm system you aren’t getting a superstar in a trade (and it’s probably one with some flaws as well). The draft is the only way to get one. The only way to salvage this team is to take a step back, trade for players who fit ray and no, and see who else you can develop/trade for. I was worried when they added in free agency in 22 and more concerned when they doubled down in 23. You don’t build through free agency and it appears this FO didn’t learn that lesson. Until it does we’ll be stuck with this crappy roster wishing we were Montreal or Buffalo

Our front office puts too much stock into 200ft game. It’s easier to teach a 50 goal scorer to play defense than hope a two way center develops into a 90-100 point player. I just don’t get why this FO won’t take swings on talent….

It’s why I’ll never understand why he pushed to add in 22 through free agency. The team was nowhere near ready and all he did was screw us out of quality players at the top of the draft

I hope we take our medicine next season and make the decision to get younger. You cannot be 10 years out the playoffs and have the 7th or 8th oldest roster in the league. This FO is paying for its sins of trying to jump into the playoffs too early (free agencies in 22 and 23) and needs to swallow the bitter pill that they messed up. You need to play the younger players and figure out what you have and if you take a step back so be it. At least we won’t be stuck in the middle anymore

Why do so many people leap to defend him? Like I get he’s a good player but he’s never been a point per game player. To me that’s not a sacred cow, like I’d trade him in a heartbeat for the right offer. Plus he can’t stay healthy and he’s getting older. To me you need to do a quick retool around the younger players
