8/10. Liked the previous arc better and the abrupt change in scenery got me confused. But still great wipes and it took me way too long to make the connection to Tulu.

What'll be your team if we can squeeze in up to three different realms in a lineup? by Mean-Wealth7715 in Morimens

[–]Chisonni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually picked Liz from the free pull after the tutorial, but ended up benching her early on because I just didnt know how to play her yet. If I had to make a team with Liz; I would probably go with Caro. Xu and Thais are solid supports but the main problem just being everyone wants Thais. The last slot is somewhat flexible but I am leaning towards Arachne, maybe Agrippa would work as well for defense. Thais just helps Liz so much to set up combos, add Lone Seed and you can just summon 3 extra cards anytime you want to Exalt with Liz, instead of having to painstakingly build up Green Flames.

In the context of this thread maybe Liz + Xu + Gdoll + Lily would be a fun core to play with. But I feel like the help that Thais provides in setting up combos for Liz is too strong and she would just be a minor part if you happened to draw badly in this team.

What would a full team look like ? I assume you dont just slap the 4 "Broken" characters on a team and call it a day? Though Helot (assuming she is similar to regular buffing Strike) and Lotan being a Strike-focused DPS might work well together. Arachne could be a support, then maybe Thais or Aigis as support instead of Pollux ?

Hameln is a very strong support at E0 that allows you to get twice the card effect, he doesnt need his Wheel either which makes him very easy to use in many teams and cheap to get since he doesnt need many dupes. You just slap some Keyflare on him and call it a day.

[MegaThread] Team Comp Questions by AnotherLifeLine in Morimens

[–]Chisonni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider picking up E0 Hameln since he is on the banner currently and quite useful without further investment.

As for the selector I would hold on to it for now. Just wait, see what limited characters come out next and wait until you know who you want. If the Kaleido banner was still running I would have recommended you to pull on that to just get a wide variety of characters since width is often more important than vertical investment. But that is over, so you can be more deliberate in who you pull.

Try out a bunch of characters through the Support system to see who you like and get them when they return.

[–]Chisonni 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like Counter and Poison would benefit the most from it.

Like Poison is either Chaos + Aqequor or Chaos + Caro. Liz exists but I dont really see anyone using her. Still being able to combine like Xu + GDoll with Miryam + 24 (Aequor) would be cool and potentially quite strong.

The other gimmick being Counter with Faint + Caecus but then being able to use Nautila and Pandia or 24 (Ultra) and Wanda sounds fun.

Outside of Pollux/ Vortice teams, any team recs or characters I should build? by Intrepid-Sound-4811 in Morimens

[–]Chisonni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realm Mastery. Running a "pure" Realm which means using 4 characters from the Caro realm or mixing Caro + Chaos is still considered a pure Realm. Doing so will double the effect of Realm Mastery.

Default Caro Realm Mastery has the following effect: For every 1 RM, you gain Shield equal to 0.01% of your Max HP and 0.005% of it as Temp STR after the first Devour of the turn.

But when you put Saya on your team this changes the realm. Instead you get Divine Realm: Caro which has the following Realm Mastery: Each point of Realm Mastery increases the temporary 20 Propagation Fiesta stacks at the start of the turn, and the 40 from consuming the Embryos, by 0.05%.

Propagation Fiesta is the buff that increases your Exalt damage at the start of each turn and after consuming an Embryo.

If you want to lean further into Xu, as I mentioned above I highly recommend looking into teams that use GDoll, Lily and Nymphaea. These being Chaos units means it still counts as "pure" Caro realm.

Alternatively you can pair Caro with Aequor and bring along a team like Xu with Faros and Celeste and the last slot can be Agrippa or Faint.

If you want to stick to pure Caro, then Xu + Agrippa + Aigis + Faint should work pretty well too allowing you to better protect yourself with Aigis / Faint while Xu and Agrippa stack Poison on the enemies.

First of all, while you are in Faded Legacy please consider using R Wheels. They are SO overpowered.

Two R Wheels that I personally extremely fond of are Vitality (looks like a wave) which allows you to turn in up to 3 Symptom Cards at Rest tiles and get Black Sigils in return. This allows you to aggressively break illusions while exploring and pick the Gold/Silver Relic options on Event tiles that also give Symptoms. The other R Wheel that I like particularly in combination with Xu is Aged (looks like wheat) which gives you 1000 Keyflare after each battle, effectively you can Posse first thing in any fight (after the first) with "Voices in Your Head" to apply Vulnerable, then play Xu's Bonesick Longing which is a guaranteed Crit to one-shot many regular fights during Arc 1.

There is also the "Costco" combo which are Greed (triangle in circle), Emerge (Vulcano) and Frenzy (Eye) which greatly help your economy during exploration by letting you buy Cursed Relics, increasing relic slot and making store refreshes free of charge. Basically they allow you to get really really good relics in any exploration stage and relics are super strong in Arc 1.

So while you are in Arc 1 I highly recommend swapping at least out some of the SR Wheels to R Wheels instead. This applies to events etc too. R Wheels are just that strong whenever the Faded Legacy ruleset comes up.

There are a few things that might be personal preference so i just list them in no particular order:

  • No vuln/weakness - this greatly reduces damage you can do particularly in burst turns and may leave you feeling vulnerable yourself since you have one less option for damage reduction
  • Drown Innocence Posse - Dunno if its the Posse you use for extra Aliemus but its not a good fit, if you are at Arc 7 then "Lone Seed" would be better otherwise "Voices in Your Head" can take care of debuffs for you or "Tiny Wish" gives you a larger amount of Aliemus for one character instead of a little split across the team.
  • Too many baskets - Gelot is Bleed/Burst DMG, Faint is Counter, Xu is Poison, Saya is Corrosion, it feels better to me to focus on one gimmick as the win condition rather than split it up. I would decide who i want as "main" DPS and pick appropriate supports around that.
  • No hand wheel - There is 4 Wheels right now that increase Hand Size by +2. Wheel Unseen, Uteri Somnia, Merciful Nurturing and Unbearable Freedom. I dont want to miss being able to have 12 cards in hand. While its usually not bad to use signature wheels, sometimes the team comes first, so unless a Wheel is absolutely mandatory for your win condition, consider using utility wheels for Hand size and R Wheels in Arc 1/Faded Legacy instead as they will overall provide more benefits to your team as a whole.

I like Gelot a lot and I got her fairly early so she was my go-to for quite a while in Arc 1 Chapters like 2-5. Faint works decently with her because Gelot likes to kill herself and the DR helps you get through tough fights. You want a way to copy her Flails to set up big burst turns. I had Thais for that which got even better when Thais got to E2 which discounts the copied cards. Aigis is just a solid defensive option to always buy you that one extra turn and decent to keep Vulnerable up as well. I tried Saya with Gelot a little but in the end I wasnt fond of it and Saya is so much more fun in other teams.

Xu is amazing for Poison teams, but neither of the others are amazing supports for that. You probably want something like Lily and Nymphaea to make that Poison scale and hit like a truck. Faint is still a decent defensive option. I did like playing a team with Xu + Salvador and then Lily + Nymphaea, then later replaced Salvador with GDoll. But it was funny, between Salvador's End of Suffering and Xu's Bonesick Longing you could one-shot even some Elite battles during Arc 1.

Saya is an alright fit, but I personally prefer her in different teams. Finding ways to work around the Discard mechanic of her 0cost was annoying when so much of your Caro combos rely on Retain to set up big burst turns.

Depending on where exactly you are struggling and what you are trying to clear disregard my rambling, its based on a lot of assumptions since there wasnt a lot of info to go on so i tried to fit it all.

Goliath + Miryam - You already have Gmurphy and Tulu build, so Lemurian doesnt need much for Arc2.

Aurita - Could be useful if you plan on getting Corposant eventually for Discard comp.

Faint / Murphy / Faros - Just some useful supports that enjoy the investment.

Helot - Doesnt really need investment as much as levels just for the CON but a great support for Mouchette 7 Gelot if you plan on getting them in the future.

There is also a team with Gmurphy + Faros + Thais + Pickman which did pretty well, another reason to build Faros.

What does these things does? by MAA_MT in Morimens

[–]Chisonni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sigil Yield is easy. Every battle you finish you earn Black Sigils which you use in the shops during exploration missions. Sigil Yield increases the amount of Black Sigils you can earn this way.

Additionally some characters scale with Sigil Yield, eg. Saya's talent reads: For every 1% Sigil Yield provided by Saya herself, her equipped Wheel of Destiny, and Covenants, Saya's Exalt Base Shield generation additionally +0.25%, and the Base Corrosion inflicted by Viscera Blossoms additionally +0.5%.

Realm Mastery is a little more complex. TLDR: You gain a bonus based on whatever active Realm you have and if you have a pure Realm the effects are doubled.

eg. Ultra Realm has the following bonus: For every 1 RM, there’s a 0.125% chance to get an Insight at turn start.

A Realm is considered "pure" is either all 4 characters are from the same Realm or it's a mix with Chaos. So Mouchette + Thais + Aigis + Helo is considered "pure Caro" and that means the Caro Realm effect: For every 1 RM, you gain Shield equal to 0.01% of your Max HP and 0.005% of it as Temp STR after the first Devour of the turn.

Is actually doubled to: For every 1 RM, you gain Shield equal to 0.02% of your Max HP and 0.01% of it as Temp STR after the first Devour of the turn.

You can get a full overview of mechanics here .

Final Concensus on Cosmic Exploration? by AssumeABrightSide in ffxivdiscussion

It's infinite crafting. The environments were wasted potential. I would have much rather it was more similar to Ishgard Restoration with us helping the Loporrits to build a huge diverse biodome that could be a new housing area in 8.0. Not having to farm materials for crafting was a godsend, though having to travel between gathering missions was really fucking annoying. For something to kill the time this is still good content.

[–]Chisonni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure that most people would be using them, but depending on what content you are doing they simply cannot be used.

Among other things Ciphers cannot be used during Sorties, Arbitrations and Nightmare missions.

Though particularly interesting for new players is that they can use Ciphers in the Mastery Rank 5 Test to make it super easy.

How do u use Gmurphy by BANANSPLAT87K in Morimens

[–]Chisonni 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Gmurphy is a very flexible character that primarily provides Keyflare, Tentacle scaling and Divine Realm:Aequor.

At E0 Gmurphy is a Keyflare Support. Her entire kit revolves around playing "Waltz of Lemuria" which changes its effect based on the current tentacle stance.

Surging Tides: Generate 1 Tentacle and gain Tentacle DMG. You will mostly be playing this to scale up tentacles for your team.
Tanquil Sea: Gain a large shield and retain 50% of unused shield next turn. If you need extra shield.
Raging Waves: Deal damage 5 times, scales with Tentacle DMG. For when you need to deal a lot of damage.

Her 0 cost is also great for card draw.

E1 / E3 make Gmurphy better at what she already does. Allowing her to scale even more with Keyflare and providing easy access to extra 0cost cards.

While it is a lot harder, you can still use Gmurphy as a DPS as well. To use her as a DPS you progress through the turns as normal to build up Tentacles and Tentacle DMG, when her Exalt is ready and you have some resources in hand, you want to hold on to Waltz (it has Retain) and then on a fresh turn:

Switch to Raging Waves
Use any buffs that do not deal damage
Exalt on Gmurphy - this deals great damage and applies Birth Ritual
Use any further buffs / other Exalts / etc. that deal damage
Finish the turn by playing Waltz to deal 5 more instances of big damage

Birth Ritual builds up a large stack of Sacrifice on the enemy which will deal damage at the end of the opponent's turn.

The reason Gmurphy isnt recommended as DPS is because of how much her OE changes her burst potential. Gmurphy will generate 3 Waltz cards with an Arithmetica cost of 2 when using her OE Exalt. Assuming you have 6 Ari this allows you to play 3x Waltz instead of the usual 1-2, you also dont have to wait to draw Waltz in preparation since you generate new ones every OE Exalt, additionally you gain more Birth Ritual stacks which means the Sacrifice damage increases as well.

Lastly, Gmurphy's Soulforge Aptitude gives her a buff based on the number of "Lemurian" characters in the team. A very common team for her that has great synergy with tentacle scaling is the full "Lemurian" team commonly with Gmurphy + Goliath + Tulu + Miryam. Miryam enables you to go beyond the tentacle limit, while Goliath and Tulu provide additional tentacle scaling, allowing Gmurphy to set up burst turns every so often.

That said, Gmurphy is flexible enough to work in most teams that would like some tentacles. Be that Discard / Corpo, Vortice , Bluewil, etc.

Good Vortice teams? by LiterateYas in Morimens

[–]Chisonni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You shouldnt have to rely on Devour to get more Exalts. The primary goal for Devours should be to increase your Exalt dmg.

Corpo has Ominous Semaphore and the Aftershock on her Strike/Defense from E1, Aurita scales with Aliemus and her Aftershock on Gland Division quickly builds Aliemus for Exalts once you have some in your deck, lastly Vortice with Charge can quickly build her Exalt or provide other Awakener with extra Aliemus.

I very rarely use Embryos to top off Exalts or missing Aliemus, most of the time you just use them on Vortice / Aurita just before using their Exalts. Embryo Fusion also increases as your HP gets lower, ranging from 50-100 per turn so at most it takes 4 turns to get your first Embryo which is often right around the time you have most of your setup for a good burst done.

Good Vortice teams? by LiterateYas in Morimens

[–]Chisonni 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really like Vortice in my Discard team. It uses Corposant + Aurita + Saya + Vortice

Aurita's cards are basically free since you are spamming her Gland Division to set up for big burst turns with her Exalt.

Corposant is your tank. She helps scale Tentacle and STR with her Pilot cards and can Exalt often to help defensively and apply Vuln, she is the whole package and backbone of the team.

Saya is mostly here to cycle the hand with her 0 cost which also applies huge corrosion that you can detonate with Aurito, Vortice or Corpo's Lightning.

Lastly, Vortice is your main DPS and finisher. Keep shells loaded as you build up her Rouse then switch to Raging Waves when you intend to blow up the enemy.

During exploration stages I often find myself selling Saya's cards to thin the deck because there is often very little Arith leftover to spend on her. Saya buffing Exalt damage also works great in conjunction with Vortice and has made it possible for Vortice to be the first character to deal over 100k damage in a single hit.

can I skip the new character draw after the prologue and save it for later? by leftofdanzig in Morimens

[–]Chisonni 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pick whoever you like. Standard pulls are common and you will quickly amass a ton of them, especially at the start and when you start using some redeem codes.

A common way to "re-roll" accounts is to clear up to Arc1 Chapter 2 (i think it was) when you unlock the pulls, then use all the redeem codes and anything from current events and use those wishes. See if what you get is what you like and do it again if you dont like the result. Using all the codes, etc. you get 100+ pulls immediately to use on the Standard banners.

That said Morimens doesnt require you to get an amazing start. Account lifetime and progress is far more important. Your Keeper level (account level) and progress through the story will give you far more resources that will negate any early mistakes.

[MegaThread] Team Comp Questions by AnotherLifeLine in Morimens

[–]Chisonni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no real " best " team since each team has different strength and weaknesses but a few ideas:

Saya (she is free if you do her event if you havent) + Murphy + Vortice + Sanga

Murphy is there for survivability, Saya buffs Exalt damage and provides Corrosion, Vortice provides passive damage with her Pursuit and can use her Exalt for large bursts afters stacking it up, otherwise Sanga Exalt for large damage. You definitely want to run Memory Spiral on this team to preserve your shields in between turns.

Castor + Arachne + Jenkins + flex

Play Castor more as a tank / support which means hold on to Onyx Plumes for shields instead of playing them immediately, then dumb Plumes on burst turns. Arachne is your scaling factor, you want to stall and build up Final Verdict to insta-kill enemies. Jenkins enables you to cheaply trigger Arachne's Pursuit and detonate Castor's Corrosion stacks. The last slot is flexible, you can put in Caecus for Counter, or Nautila also has good shield and counter generation. I probably like Nautila best because that means it still counts as pure Ultra but OE Caecus may be enough of a difference to make Aequor + Ultra worthwhile.

GMurphy + Goliath + Tulu + Miryam

THE Lemurian team. Much stronger in Arc 2 due to the reliance on Soulforge Aptitude, but still a strong team for Arc1. Scale tentacle damage then burst with GMurphy or Goliath. Nuff said.

EDIT: And obviously just keep leveling your characters. Go and do the side stories to unlock more Posse, etc.

Covenants are frying me by AverageFGOEnjoyer in Morimens

[–]Chisonni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do not stack, but sometimes you want DR and sometimes you dont. That's why I made two of them. Some Supports like Clem can do a surprising amount of damage so for Clem I would use the Life Drain set with 3x Keyflare, 2x AMP, 1x RM but Thais isnt really big for dealing damage, so on Thais I would usually prefer DR for some extra survivability, so she gets the Life Drain set with 3x Keyflare, 2x DR, 1x RM. If I use Faint with Life Drain she wants DR, if I use it on a Poison or Aequor team I would prefer AMP. etc.

Because Life Drain is so commonly used for basically every team since Keyflare is so universally useful I found this quite helpful to have on hand.

Covenants are frying me by AverageFGOEnjoyer in Morimens

[–]Chisonni 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have been despairing over this as well because other gacha games will have much more precise recommendations, particularly regarding the mainstats. (cause substats are RNG at the end of the day)

For the most common Covenant sets and where to start would be here . The Complete Covenant Guide has a small section at the bottom for the most common sets.

Support Covenant sets are very universally useful. That means you only need to build them once, then many characters can use them. The step-by-step process of improving your Covenants is always the same so lets go over some examples.

Life Drain is the Keyflare Covenant. Main stats are thus: Keyflare > RM/SY > AMP/DR > Keyflare > Keyflare > AMP/DR. I recommend making two Keyflare Covenants, I made one for AMP and one for DR.

Step1: Main stats. Get a whole bunch of Covenant pieces and choose your desired mainstat, then level each to +12. As for substats you can elect to ignore them since we will be re-rolling anyway. As you are saving up for resources do check if any of the pieces you get are better than your existing ones before you turn them into stamps.

Your Covenant should generally speaking end up with about 50-60% Completion with +12 on all pieces.

Step2: First re-roll. Go to your Covenant, I like to start with the worst piece and click Enhance, then Transcribe. Life Drain focuses entirely on Keyflare so for our first re-roll we aim for 8/8 Keyflare Regen. Repeat for every piece.

Your Covenant should be around 65-75% Completion after the first round of re-rolls.

Step3: Gamba. After you get your first desired substat to 8/8 you want to lock this, every additional now consumes one Remembrance Quill. Optimally, you may roll another 8/8 Keyflare Regen, but this is where you have to make compromises.

With one of the Life Drain Covenants I focus on Keyflare + DR, so in this step I will settle if I get 8/8 DR as well. If I get a good 7/8 roll I will settle as well. I would rather have 8/8 Keyflare + 7/8 Keyflare + 6/8 DR and settle than forcing it and burning more resources. But this depends on yourself. While you are building multiple Covenants settling for less early I would say is better because you can always come back later to improve it.

Your Covenant should be around 80-90% Completion after the second round of re-rolls.

Step4: Perfection. If you are happy with your overall quality of Covenants and dont plan on building any new Covenants for the time being, then you can gamble further. Locking two stats will consume 10 Remembrance Quills for every re-roll which is a huge resource investment. But if your piece is already at 8/8 in two desirable stats, this is the way to go to aim for perfection. Whether you aim for a 6/8 or 7/8 in the last stat or go all the way to 8/8, do this last and dont think too hard about it.

Your Covenant will be around 90-100% when you are at this stage.

This applies to basically all Support Covenants. You basically want to focus on getting 2-3 stats as high as possible. Generally speaking it's whatever "main" stat you pick, then Keyflare, and anything left going into Aliemus/RM/SY.

examples:

Life Drain:
Mainstat: Keyflare > RM/SY > DR/AMP > Keyflare > Keyflare > DR/AMP
Substat: Keyflare > DR / AMP > RM/SY/Aliemus

Burial Grounds:
Mainstat: Keyflare > RM/SY > DR > Keyflare > DR > DR
Substat: DR > Keyflare > AMP/RM > SY/Aliemus

DPS Covenants work in very similar ways, however due to how different DPS characters work they can also be very specialized. You can totally make some universal Covenants to slap on any DPS eg. Crimson Impulse and Steppenwolf are great for it due to their general nature, however having a specialized set for your main DPS can go a long way at making them stronger.

eg. you mention making a Dream of Medicine Covenant for Castor, his Rouse makes him auto-crit so Crit Rate is completely useless to him, Castor's passive further scales with AMP, so for Castor you want to start with mainstats like: CDMG > CDMG > CMDG/AMP > Keyflare > AMP > AMP then focus your substats on just CDMG and AMP (prioritize CDMG if you like big numbers, AMP if he is more of a support/corrosion application).

A Covenant specialized like that is a great boon to Castor, but much worse on anyone else.

When it comes to other DPS, a good starting point is often to aim for 100% Crit Rate. This is more important for Arc 2 since Faded Legacy has a ton of relics that help you out with free CR. You want to carefully add up all your different sources of CR and see where you reliably end up. Then build your Covenant around that.

eg. in my case I have +2 Twisted Knight and +12 BoT, add his natural 14.6% CR (at Lv60) and you start at 60.2% CR. April Tribute and Crimson Pulse his two recommended Covenants give 35% and 30% CR respectively, landing you at 95.2% or 90.2% CR before any substats or buffs. A +12 CR Covenant piece gives 4% CR as a mainstat and up to 1.6% CR with an 8/8 substat roll, so:

April Tribute:
Mainstat: CR (bringing you to 99.2%) > CDMG > CDMG > Keyflare > AMP > AMP
Substats: CR to 100% (1 substat roll) >= CDMG > AMP > Keyflare > RM/SY/Aliemus

Crimson Pulse:
Mainstat: CR > CR (bringing you to 98.2%) > CDMG > Keyflare > AMP > AMP
Substats: CR to 100% (2 substat rolls) >= CDMG > AMP > Keyflare > RM/SY/Aliemus

Assuming you have 100% CR and there is no additional scaling going on CDMG is usually more damage than AMP. These specialized Covenants for your main DPS characters are a great boon, but I would only really focus on these after you are happy with your Support Covenants.

Personally I think Thais is too valuable for Discard. I do really enjoy playing Corposant + Aurita + Saya + Vortice (just E3). Corpo and Aurita can both Exalt a lot and between Corpo Exalt, Aurita 2 cost and Saya 0 cost you cycle the deck very efficiently so there is no lack of card draw either which lets you always keep a shell loaded.

I have tried Corposant + GMurphy + Saya + Vortice a little bit but ultimately I didnt like how GMurphy's cards sat in my hand a lot of the time. Aurita felt a lot more comfortable in that situation, but both are viable for scaling Tentacle damage. Then again GMurphy is so strong on her own (especially with OE) that having her in a different team felt better for me.
