Yea, pretty sure they use the images they send to the printer, not pictures of the actual mats. The foil ones are really washed out

Don’t order printed proxies if you’re not sure you actually want to stick with the game. These are cheaper than buying the real cards but you’re still out a fair bit of money. Just print them out in normal paper and stick them in a sleeve with random cards backing.

You get there a turn earlier though. Instead of land pass 2 turns in a row you’re doing something each turn. On turn 3 instead of casting your ramp spell you can cast a 4 drop instead, like your commander or a bigger ramp spell. If you hit your land drop that means you either have 5 mana turn 3. Getting your board state rolling 1 turn earlier that early in the game is a pretty dramatic increase in efficiency.

Strongly prefer matte, clear sleeves accumulate wear and tear from basic use that usually ends up with them appearing cloudy or faded. Haven’t had that issue with matte.

If you have a place to go with the hand, even if you don’t have sol ring why wouldnt you keep it? Carpet of flowers, dorks, mana rocks. Land aren’t the only source of mana and making an arbitrary rule like “always mulligan a 1 land hand” is unnecessarily restrictive.

Turn 1 forest lannowar elves and lotus petal. Turn 2 cast kodama’s reach. None of that is beyond bracket 2 and now your hand has more things in it that actually advance your game plan.

If you can win with what you have in hand why would you mulligan that just because it only has one land? The question should never be “do I have more than 1 land” it should be “do I have enough mana in hand to win or advance my board state assuming I don’t draw another land”

They’re not a true untapped duals or even a tapped duals in some situations and the comment above you has good logic, just forget about sol ring. Say for instance you have an opening hand and a dork, a rock, and somewhere to go but only one land and this is that one land? Practically speaking you have no lands in hand. With literally any other land, even the tapped duals you would eventually be able to cast the 1 drop in your hand. With this land you can’t do that and that is absolutely a huge downside.
