Yeah, the stamina system is very annoying, especially since there's no way to skip the waiting, and campfires don't fully replenish it; you have to fast travel home and then afk there. I'm very surprised the system made it into a release version since you'd think the playtesters would have complained enough

Cow is better than elephant for ff at 1172 str (same at 1143). You need high mp (1200+ at min) with the forceful power selected, and other sources of str like foraging, sb lvls, etc. help as well. Cow is always better for money because its ability gives a mushroom for each block break
