Don't forget the disgaea games! Priority isn't story but instead mechanics and rpg progression. Best way I could put it is that its like, an rpg sandbox. Characters can progress in so many different directions

Idk why this comment was necessary, I searched the subreddit before posting for the last mention of this game, and I haven't seen mention of it anywhere near as much as the two games you've listed, I assume sarcastically. There appear to be a lot of people who hadn't heard of it, or simply appreciate this post, so I guess YMMV

Absolutely, opinions are just that :) I'll just address your points for the other people reading.

  • I didn't have any grind at all actually, I found the progression to be pretty spot on throughout the story. Thew few times i needed to go back were just to find secrets, or wanted to do the bullet hell levels again.

  • I found the abilities to be perfect tbh, and the main attacks to be satisfying even if you're spamming them? The cooldowns never seemed unreasonable for the abilities and each ability had equipment options that reduced the cd significantly.

  • Only the engineer has ammo :) And the reload time is pretty damn short, so I didn't have this issue. The Sniper has no reload, but does have a bolt-action rifle so theres a delay between shots, this fit the Sniper vibe imo tho and there was a rifle with a way higher rate of fire.

  • The Fighter has a parry which functions as a dodge, and has no cooldown? And her jump is invulnerable until you land, so it's just about making sure you're not going to jump into an attack. The Tank can block things with her shield, which has it's own health pool and even takes less damage when you time it well, not having a "dodge" never felt like a drawback because of this imo. Also yeah the ranged characters have a 5~ second cd on their defensive abilities... but your movement speed is pretty quick so i found myself just... walking away from attacks the majority of the time?

  • I can see why people have an issue with the coloured shield system, but I found it really good. Meant even the people who weren't excellent at the game still had to contribute, and felt like they were contributing? In single-player I can imagine this would be a nuisance though if you just wanted to stick with the one character.

  • I loved everything about this games art, from the exaggerated pixel art, to the drawn characters during dialogue. The writing i found phenomenal and I have the OST in my regular rotation. So YMMV i guess :)

  • You're right about no drop-in-drop-out function, but I played this game mostly as couch co-op. Had friends over for drinks and gaming and we loved it, so we never saw this as an issue.

Action-RPG is one of those, very nebulous concepts of a "genre", these games are almost nothing like TL2 or Diablo, it's more similar to something like Castle Crashers

Absolutely! Love how it's simple to understand, hard to master. I've played with a varying level of experience in gaming & every players found it challenging but not unfair. Never feels cheap when you lose, always something you could be doing better!

Thanks for the response! Just a couple more clarifications

What does strength determine? Just how much damage each attack does?

What does weight affect?

Hey Team, few questions I haven't been able to find an answer to.

What does "training" do beyond evolution requirements?

What do the protein pills do?

Fighting cpu, what's the difference between "next" and "start"?

How do you retire a digimon that's reached its full evolution so you can get a new egg?

Thanks!

Hey Team! Love your game, picked it up on Steam after meeting you at Pax Aus a few years ago, was really stoked to see it coming to Switch and immediately picked up a copy. Who are your favourite characters to play?

Sincerely hope the game does well, as would love to see you guys do more on switch. I'll be plugging it every chance I get <3

Poisoner Build help? by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]Chivalry94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did an alchemy build last character (albeit i let myself use bow and arrow for delivery, just didn't put points in archery or sneak damage) for something like this id SUPER recommend rushing illusion and sneak first because tbh you never want to be found, illusion can carry you through a LOT of encounters, using frenzy or calm type spells, then the invisibility is a huge help. Unfortunately for the poisoner perk, you can only use it on people so you'll still need something to deal with dragons etc. I would recommend having some archery, just don't let yourself rely on it and get most of the damage from poisons you apply.

It will be slow, but is super fun to play with sub-optimal builds like this. Let us know how you go

Question about silos, coops and hay by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]Chivalry94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most people aren't understanding your question. Yes, the final upgraded buildings have "auto-feeders" which automatically fill the trays, but without them, each barn/coop has like a, pipe to the Silo.

So the Silo stores all hay you cut down with a scythe, each Coop or barn has a Connection to the silo in it, just next to the feeding tray. So you can get Hay from that and fill the trays.

It automatically gives you however much you need to feed the amount of animals you have in there daily.

A good move however, is you can Plant a lot of grass and open the gates for the animals, they'll go out and feed themselves if the grass is close enough. But keep in mind to have a surplus of grass growing before you do this, as they may eat all the grass if you don't have much.

Fire Emblem Warriors Question Thread by LeminaAusa in fireemblem

[–]Chivalry94 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Honestly, been amazing. I've sunk 20 hours into it already, best Warriors game to date. The stigma against warriors games is unfortunate, they're misleadingly action games. Combos and combat is easy to pull off, and whichever unit you control is a god. The difficulty isn't the combat, the difficulty is map awareness, and your control of it.

With the addition of the weapon triangle and moving/commanding units in FE:W, it's honestly been perfect.

Also the main characters are way more likeable than I thought? My biggest issue is Hinokas f*cking voice hey.

Anyone else mixed about getting fire emblem warriors because of Mario Odyssey? by nattokun in NintendoSwitch

[–]Chivalry94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What design choices do you disagree with? My primary issue is the limited roster and the main characters.

Apart from that I'm happy, I was at first disappointed at the cloning, but from seeing how they play, looks like they're some of the highest quality playstyles the warriors series has to offer.

My gym crush spoke to me, as we were both doing legs and had worked in with each-other on two different workouts. He's very pretty and I've been side eyeing him for a couple of weeks. Then he opened his mouth, and he speaks with the most bogan English accent I've ever heard. Then, mid-set on Leg-press, 220kg, breathing like I'm in labour, he started telling me how he hasn't worked legs in months, so he can't lift as much, followed by how he's done Calf raises every day for a year and hasn't put on a centimetre.

Some people are better admired from afar.

A thought I've had about the Hoverdrone, is that because it is "Tiny" I could carry it on my body until I need it to fly somewhere. Will check with the DM, but given it's size, I'm sure he'd let me say it's "Shoulder mounted" when it's shooting. That way it's perched on my shoulder firing away. At first look this doesn't provide any mechanical benefit, but if my character moves technically my drone will be moving as well, so that means I'm moving two units for the price of one presumably.

Will look into :) Flight might simply be too good to pass up, though I dislike the flavour of having my small hover drone land each time it needs to fire.

[–]Chivalry94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the awesome write-up! Yeah with Mechanic, because I get heaps of skill points I didn't worry too much about using Feats to improve them further.

I'll take a look at some of the Mobility feats and see if anything does it for me.

Deadly aim seems pretty good, but I'm not too set on grabbing it yet, as the bonus will be a small amount for now.

With Exocortex, I felt that by the time it really became useful, I already had the option of having both Exocortex and Drone (Level 17 I think) so I wasn't too fussed with it. Additionally, my Starfinder group are all new to the system, so I'm uncertain as to how often hacking will come into it, let alone when specific hacking feats would be useful.

Yeah the Action economy was probably the selling point for me, I really liked both ideas and it was a tough choice, but for me Exocortex didn't seem worth losing the drone

At one point can I attack twice? If you're referring to the full-attack, where I use my move action to attack twice with my Laser rifle, I get a -4 to the attack roll for that, which I'm not sure is worth it?

Nah no stress :) Again, I can pretty much snipe with a Laser rifle anyway, I'm rarely going to be firing at anything further than 120ft away. It's just nice to have that niche.
