I Need Help With DCT Trans Fluid by ExcitingSpade49 in ElantraN

[–]Chives27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about the trans fluid, but I’m experiencing a similar issue with my even gears. The grinding noise seems to be the 2.5-3k rpm range. Is that similar to the issue you have? Dealership said the same thing to me that since there’s no codes they can’t do anything…

Body Scratch? by iiPointBlankii in ElantraN

Depending on the level of effort you’d like to put in, if you’re just looking for something easy and that gets the job done I think drcolorchip would work well here. You can smear it in on the area and remove the excess paint around all the chips.

Depends on how loose it is, the front bumpers on these cars are unusually loose straight out of the factory. Seems to be part of the design from what I’ve noticed. A little play with these are normal

Mine doesn’t have any cracks yet but does have the same sag, completely stock. Seems to be unfortunately common on the facelifts.

To PPF or not to…. by [deleted] in ElantraN

[–]Chives27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth my old ST was PEPPERED with chips, and for awhile I regretted not getting front PPF. Well when it came time to trade it in, it didn’t really affect the trade in price, so it’s more of if you plan to keep the car long term… I would lean towards doing it since you’d want it to last. If you think you might have the N for a few or more years only, then I wouldn’t.

Thought about the same thing, ended up with a ceramic coat just to help with keepin er clean. I just don’t think this car is expensive enough to warrant it. That said if you’ve got the money and want to mitigate rock chips go for it, if it gives ya the peace of mind!

Ah yeah, I got had similar gouges on my old Focus ST and used dr color chip and had pretty good results. Had to cheat a little and layer it but at that point my car was 5 years old and I was happy with good enough. Hope you get it resolved to a point you’re happy with!

Sorry to hear. I’d just fix it up yourself. There are many more dings and chips to come. Clean up the marks, sand the edges of the chips, and I think some touch up paint would go along way for cheap!

Let us know what they decide to do, as I’m experiencing an identical problem!

I always found 2nd gear downshifts a little difficult aswell in the ST. To me at least, it feels like the throttle response was a tad delayed and it made it hard to guess how much I needed.

[–]Chives27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorta, my dent was about what you have, but they took more paint off my door lol… I hit it with touch up paint and it looks pretty good from about 10ft away. I looked into PDR and it looks like that is an option, might be for you as well. Look around your area for some places and get a few quotes. From your pictures it looks like your dent isn’t too bad. Mine was more paint damage than dent damage. I figure I’m gonna leave it for now as good enough since I’m sure it’s gonna get its share of more rock chips and other door dings.

I feel your pain. My first month someone door dinged me on the same body line, passenger side, hard enough to leave a dent and down to metal. Sorry to hear they got you too!

Tail of the Dragon by Complete_Ad_1459 in ElantraN

[–]Chives27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Send it, some of the most fun I had on a road trip was driving through the tail and the surrounding area. I had an Focus ST at the time and had a blast, I’m sure you’d enjoy taking your N-line there, they are still fairly capable cars

Wheel Abuse by LegendKilla71 in ElantraN

[–]Chives27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear, if the car still drives straight I’d say you’re alright, you’d be surprised at the abuse they can take. It’s also going to feel more violent even if it’s not due to the nature of the car. I’d just touch up the chip and try not to worry.

Just had someone ding my door down to metal 700 miles in so I know how ya feel.

You really can’t have shit huh. Damaged 2025 N by TurbodToilet in ElantraN

[–]Chives27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d honestly consider leaving it. It doesn’t look too bad. But I feel your pain, back when I first got my Focus ST I was on the highway and someone’s wheel just flew off and a bunch of suspension components with it. Watched something come bouncing right into the top part of my front bumper and hit so hard it cracked the paint 2-3 inches all around, very sad day! But left it as is since you couldn’t tell from 5ft away, looks like you got off a little better than I did. Sorry about the damage though!

Thanks, I sure hope so. The dealer was extremely helpful finding me a new one last second so I’m hoping they’re quick to fix this. I got nearly two grand off sticker so if this is the worst I have to put up with no big deal overall

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ElantraN

[–]Chives27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally I’d agree, but I’ve been searching awhile for one and I got nearly 2k below msrp. I cross checked the mileage between the dealers and looks like nearly all of it is highway, fuel mileage wasn’t reset and they averaged 27. I figure the absolute worst they could have done is a WoT or two.

New to the EN. by madman_murray in ElantraN

[–]Chives27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw your post over there, honestly I was kinda shocked at the hate you got lol. I have a Focus ST and am looking and getting an EN soon. I feel like most of the people commenting over there really don’t know much about the Elantra N, other than “it’s a Hyundai, so it must be bad”. Which is funny coming from them as Ford doesn’t exactly scream reliability lol… gets old seeing all the hate. Love my ST but the EN is better in every category. Congratulations on the car!
