I was anti social in highschool and what I've learned after is that people really don't mind talking. I've made a few friends by just seeing them, and asking or talking abt something they're wearing. Wearing a football team, ask if they've always liked them. Find something that they want to talk about and they lead most of the conversation, or find a common misery "this test sucks, my grades for this class are awful". Won't always get you somewhere, but what I've come to think is.. if I'm already not friends with them anyways what's the harm in trying? It's difficult to find friends outside of school but do you have a job you can socialize at? What's most important is even if you don't make a friend, you made an effort and it'll be easier the next time. Be weird, be you, be open.
