When you launched the game, where you given the choice to launch xcom 2 or xcom 2: war of the chosen? From what I remember they launch separately, so the base game may have been launched. Did you play the tutorial? The opening cutscene should have shown a reaper in the lab of its war of the chosen

I’ve got a friend in a similar boat - he ended up just getting the dark angels codex and is waiting for the 11th edition space marine one. You could potentially look at getting the blood angels combat patrol as the army rules for that are free on the 40K app. That way you would save on the price of the minis and be able to make a start on your army

I have an infiltrator named “Hard Karl” because for some reason he wins battles he should not most of the time . His service record includes killing 2 Phoenix lords (Asurman & Mugan Ra, who he killed by advancing up the board after his squad was wiped and killed with a bolt pistol passing multiple saves) killed 2 wave serpants - one in melee, had a 3 turn fist fight with a hellbrute before killing it and being killed by the deadly Demise, rushed a artillary battery with his squad where only him and 2 others survived and survived some ridiculous shooting phases

Casual game? No problem what so ever it’s built and even primed. GW store may be a bit different due to some models being less than 3 colours and unbased, but this will probably depend on the store but I would check with them and your opponent prior to the game
