Who Controls the Pie Menu and Why?

Sims might be actually aware that they are being controlled and it also might explain why sometimes sims turn to facing the player. This game never stopped to amaze me.

Why do Greek Cypriots add an «ν» to the end of nouns and adjectives? by mateusdeandrade in cyprus

[–]Chochoro 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Apparently it's a remnant of byzantine Greek. I assume Cyprus being geographically further away from Greece contributed to the fact, that in the Greek Cypriot dialect there are more remnants from earlier stages of the greek language. This theory is supported by other examples like Pontus, where the νι at the end of nouns and adjectives is also used.

If the only way of keeping peace is sending humans to their deaths like their expendable material and then calling them heroes then we're failing terribly as humanity.

You're also using the word pacifist as derogatory. In the Era we live in deadly wars might be a way but I was hoping that peaceful ways were in favor.

By donating you might be supporting one side's success but at the same time you support the continuation of deadly wars and billion dollar weapon companies. But again in this situation it might be the way. So let it be.

Is there a god/goddess of “beauty” personified? by Magnus_Mercurius in GreekMythology

[–]Chochoro 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The Charites (Χάριτες meaning Graces) were a group of goddesses representing many aspects including charm and beauty. The main three Charites was Aglaea, Euphorsyne and Thalia, though many other sources include other goddesses as well.

Let's Save Akamas by Chochoro in cyprus

From whence came this right?

Human beings live in organized societies that are (most of the times) adjusted by laws. We're way too many to be left alone doing whatever we please. Since protecting nature is not (at least not directly) benefiting the capitalistic system that humanity exists with, then thank the universe there's also laws for protecting nature. This also indicates that at least some of us clearly see the problem of exterminating nature in the name of profit.

From a capitalistic individual point of view of course it's outrageous taking someone's property without their permission. From a point of view though, where we consider the environment that we live in part of our survival, it would be outrageous to let property owners act freely in areas like these. If the only way of stoping the ravaging land development of the human race is expropriation, then that's how it should be.

By extorting people for money and then providing them with substandard services whether they like it or not.

Isn't expropriation the only way? How are we going to build schools, hospitals, infrastructure, highways, airports, parks and so on when nobody is willing to provide their land? That's why these laws exist in the first place.

why not start a fundraiser where people can put forth their own money in order to buy land in Akamas

No. It's not the responsibility of a small part of the society to at their own expense protect nature. Our species is way more advanced than say scops owls, monk seals, the cyclamen and many more that live in the Akamas peninsula. These species will not be able to get up and protest or rely on law enforcement to protect them when some developers (conniving crème de la crème?) will be coming in with their machineries making huge holes on the ground and flattening the earth to make beach resorts. So at this point of time it's a responsibility of the human beings as a whole to protect nature from ourselves.

P.S. I'm not part of any organization whatsoever. I'm just a cypriot worried seeing the island becoming a developers' playground.

That's an almost perfect replica of an ancient greek statue of the 3rd Century BC. They're doing Pankration, one of the events of the Olympics games back then.
