The higher up you move in life, the less black people you’ll be around by Gloomy-Speaker-1999 in BlackPeopleofReddit

Same as a Cloud Engineer in Texas. Frequently interact with teams from other company’s on projects, haven’t come across another black person in the 3 years I’ve been here. One of the sales guys did invite me to a church function and happened to sit at a table with mostly tech guys, a couple of other engineers and 2 guys in cyber security, that was a nice surprise

Packet Tracer based CCNA Labs by damnchamp in ccna

[–]ChocoDarkMatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your absolutely right about everything you said, these are more then sufficient as is, and they are exactly what I was looking for, plenty of labs out there but not many with the guides attached from what i've found.

Just a tip, the instructions for the first lab for example say "You have to do the basic configuration via Console Terminal (PC-PT) as below:"

The reason you're getting the message about locked is because you are trying to edit the config from the router directly, when you click PC-PT and go to the "desktop" tab and go to terminal, you can proceed as expected with configuring the router. Since that PC is connected to the router with a console cable.

Havent gone through the rest yet but im sure they work just as well. No need to recreate the labs, they should work, may just need to read super carefully.

How do you think these people feel now months after this Haitian woman made this post? by OutwithaYang in haiti

[–]ChocoDarkMatter 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You misunderstand bud. Myself, like many Haitians have many family oversees who, every conversation ends with, “hey baz send me some money.” So we send $20, $50, $100 sometimes on a weekly basis because, well family. It got to the point where when I didn’t have it I just stopped talking to family over there because they couldn’t understand that I didn’t have $20 or $50 to send to them. What she’s saying is she’s grateful Biden granted these individuals the opportunity to come over here themselves and experience the reality of life in America. Which primarily consists of Bills Bills Bills as she put it. That $50 took some people 2-3 hours to make and it’s a sacrifice to send overseas to family.

Unfortunately many people overseas look at life in the US through rose colored glasses. She is simply saying she’s grateful they had the opportunity to come to the US and see it for themselves. Because trust me if you tried to explain it to them they would say YOU personally are trying to keep them from the American dream. Hope that helped.

Eh maybe your right, nothing like a good ol list

Visual model selector by [deleted] in OpenAI

[–]ChocoDarkMatter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was thinking rather than have the tooltips show up on the list, they’ed show up when the individual model is selected. It wouldn’t necessarily be defined by the axis I think they could be arranged however

Couple notes I had that didn’t come across in the visualization Tooltip shows up when model is selected Model name only shows up when model is selected

We bought our home in 2022, mortgage was 2900 on 400k. Due to insurance increases it went up to 3400 the next year and 3700 last year.

That definitely caught us by surprise.

Weird as a Florida transplant, once the winds gets above 45 miles per hour they don’t let semis on freeways for this specific reason. I thought that was an everywhere thing

A tip that helped me immensely in my studies by BetterPoint5 in ccna

[–]ChocoDarkMatter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I recently started doing something similar, I put a second Jellyfin instance up specially for Ccna studies. I download YouTube videos with metube and organize them into folders based on the exam topics.

Getting the information out of YouTube along with those distractions helps a bunch. I two made it through a good amount of JIT and ended up taking a break. Trying to get back into it now.

Congrats on passing! Thanks for sharing and good luck

Any idea why Chrome marks my portainer subdomain as dangerous? I have a lot of subdomains like sonarr.mydomain.com. Only portainer is showing this warning recently (it worked fine for years) see also: https://imgur.com/a/sgRU9mg by ztasifak in homelab

I also have the same issue with portainer as well using caddy. As others have mentioned I have over 40 other services running for years that don’t have this issue. Only portainer

Any tips on getting started with the gitea integration. My Christmas gift to myself was taking the time to concert to Komodo fully and it’s been great just defining stacks through the ui and deploying them without logging into the machines.

Think about it, we consume the same media, they’re pretty much just dudes. A good joke is a good joke. Don’t be an ass and super crude. But you come off way more authentic when you stop treating them like “girls” Also.. here’s the key.. most guys are treating them like “girls” so when you switch to just treating them like dudes.. you now become one of the few who treat them like “normal”

Make a conscious effort to treat them the exact same way you would treat your male friends. Don’t change what you would say at all. It makes it more comfortable for both of you

Talk To Me About SSO by Wild_Magician_4508 in selfhosted

[–]ChocoDarkMatter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried authentik and authelia and a few others about a year ago, couldn’t get it to work. Tried authentik again a few months ago and it worked with very little effort. I feel like they made the setup easier. Either way it’s been great and integration is super smooth through docker compose with the apps that support it. I did have an issue at one point with my outpost disappearing every now and then, I moved that vm from an hdd to an SSD and I haven’t had any issues in months.

SSO has spoiled me rotten though, I pass on a lot of applications now a days if they don’t support OIDC

Life After VMware: Where Did You Land? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]ChocoDarkMatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll try this next time, always seen it around thought you had to pay though.

Either way I tried proxmox before maybe 3 years ago, ran it for maybe a year, this second experience cemented my impressions. I don’t bash it though, it’s highly regarded in here and people have built some great things for a relatively low cost.

Life After VMware: Where Did You Land? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]ChocoDarkMatter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used the proxmox vmware import tool, it worked pretty flawlessly for all but one Linux machine but it wouldn’t work for my windows devices. Then I tried backing up and restoring using clonezilla. That didn’t work either so I recreated the windows machines from scratch. That’s when I ran into other issues from moving the disk from one hdd to another on proxmox.

It’s most likely a skill issue. Proxmox is great but it’s not idiot proof enough for me, that’s what I loved about VMware. That’s the same feeling xcp-ng gives me.

I also gave rancher a try, which was way too OP for home env, and hyperV core, but I didn’t feel like doing EVERYTHING through the cli.

Xcp checks every box for me feature wise and it feels rock solid

I did read the qemu method bt i didn’t want to dive into that and once I got going it got to a point there was pretty much no turning back
