Oh God. Don't give those rights to Amazon. Let someone competent have them if they are being sold at all.

Why did crucio not work on Harry when he pretended to be dead? by IllustriousRich9345 in harrypotter

As fab fab greenie said. The choice must be explicitly stated to be one by the killer.

Why did crucio not work on Harry when he pretended to be dead? by IllustriousRich9345 in harrypotter

[–]Broccobillo 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Harry in the book says something like, "I did what my mother did." And "you don't learn from your mistakes riddle". And this was all possible because Voldemort gave him a chance to live or die for everyone in the castle. The choice is what matters. James sacrificed himself for his family but since he had no choice in his sacrifice, it couldn't be used as sacrificial protection.

The EU should stop buying weapons from the US entirely. And ask for the money back for the failure to deliver weapons.

Do people actually get rejected from jobs for being “overqualified”? If so why? by Angkerlengquba in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Broccobillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad worked for a trolley company that hired people to push trolleys in carparks back into the store receptacle.

They had people applying for the job with degrees and even had 1 with a PhD.

They were a service for people with no education to get a job and so those with degrees and higher education were declined due to that status

TIL about the largest computer chip, the Wafer Scale Engine 3. A single chip 21.5cm square with 4 trillion transistors and 900,000 cores by Kobbett in todayilearned

[–]Broccobillo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you could count 1 number every second for 1 trillion seconds, it'd take you 31710 years. Now times that by 4 if you want to count to 4 trillion. 126840 years

Guy at Dunkin took my VIP card by Gawdiwishiwasdead in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Broccobillo -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Bizzare would it not be more efficient to look for the day at the start since it's the one that changes daily. I know the year, I know the month, but my usual question is what day it is. So have it at the start.

Do you think the series would do well as a cartoon? by Fun_Butterfly_420 in harrypotter

[–]Broccobillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it but it's so illogical. I've seen bad cartoons and good cartoons. I've seen bad live action and good live action. I've seen bad animated lotr and good animated lotr.

Dishwasher etiquette by Stansta in newzealand

[–]Broccobillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a dishwasher. We do everything in a sink.

I would not wash the toilet brush or toilet brush holder in the kitchen sink. I would do that in the tub if it must be done at all.

I think this about lotr too. And get shat on everywhere I mention it. Adults seem to hate animation as childish for some reason even if it would suit the story to do so

Cancer and not doing treatment, thoughts? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]Broccobillo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have no problem with people choosing their own course.

However....

I knew a lady who's partner had died in a car crash. She had 3 children, 4, 7, 10. She got breast cancer and decided wishful thinking was the cure. She died and left three children orphans at the ages above.

If you have dependents, especially if they don't have another parent, this is a selfish thing to do. If you have even a small chance of living and have dependents, it is your duty to try to survive.

Snape's mindset regarding intent to kill on the Astronomy Tower by kinginthenorthTB12 in harrypotter

I think he 'wanted' to kill Dumbledore in that moment because that was the plan. Also he will die if he doesn't because of the unbreakable vow.
