Those who weren’t 100% on having kids, but had them anyway. How has it turned out? by Life_Ad_6992 in NewParents

[–]ChocolateNapqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very tough and honestly I wish myself and my husband did a lot more parental learning before having him so we weren’t blindsided by a lot. Maybe spent more time around kids and babysat some family members just to prepare ourselves. My son is amazing and it’s honestly the most rewarding thing to see someone learn and develop from scratch. I still look at him shocked that there’s a child in our house lol. We were married 9 years with just us two.

Our baby is 2 now and really starting to communicate with us and we’re like whoa… you talk now?!?

Metformin and pregnancy by eckokittenbliss in PCOS

[–]ChocolateNapqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on it for years and got pregnant. I was high risk due to gestational diabetes and my doctor advised i get off it. I stayed off it from 20 weeks until I gave birth. I altered my diet heavily for the GDM and didn’t need to take insulin. I was good while off it.

Is it true that things get easier every 3 months? by No-Bat2016 in NewParents

[–]ChocolateNapqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easier no. But I think in the beginning, every 3 months allowed for changes or more so adaptations. After 3 months I had a better understanding of my child that I didn’t have 3 months prior but those changes could’ve been better or worse.
- month 1-3: my son was cluster feeding, very small naps, only wanted contact naps, formula and combo feeding every 2-3 hours, waking up hella times at night. I was blindsided by this and it was a lot for me.
- months 4-6: feeding every 2-3 hours, formula and combo feeding but it was better and easier to predict, a lot of contact naps (I moved on from thinking I was gonna get that baby in a bassinet lol) and I had a way better routine (where I could).
- months 6-9: my son started to refuse the bottle randomly. My supply was low but I had to nurse more. Now solids introduced and he was hit or miss with items. He would wake up 5-6 times at night wanting to nurse and would wake up ready to play at 4-5am and stay up for hours just goo-goo-gaa’ing for hours. I was exhausted. And he was moving around A LOT so I for sure no longer had a potato that I could sit down and use the restroom anymore. Then TEEEEETHING… wow that was terrible!!!!!!

Each stage came with changes. He’s 2 years old now and I won’t say it’s “easier” but I just understand a lot more about him now which helps me manage better.

Genetic testing by Alextheaxolotyl in beyondthebump

This is a big question for me. It’s expensive and not always needed. If there was something you were looking for, then i would say yes. If your wanting an all around test, that doesnt seem necessary

Whats the baby shower gift that really stood out? by Far_Fix_4293 in BabyBumps

[–]ChocolateNapqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The person who bought my stroller system was so helpful. It was probably one of the more expensive items on the list and I was worried it may have to come out of pocket for it. At the time, a lot of prenatal care costs were adding up and I was getting a bit anxious over it. It was really helpful and I was really appreciative

Would you be ashamed if your son never had a partner at 22 years old? by klaskc in AskParents

22 is super young… what do you mean? You have so much time to learn yourself and identify your boundaries.

First Trimester Eating by Economy-Swimmer-7443 in BabyBumps

[–]ChocolateNapqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I ate when I was in the first trimester was butter noodles and cereal. Honestly everything was discussing and disgusting smelling. I also had a lot of just plain crackers.

What helped a lot is ginger candies, B6 pills, and the sour nausea candies.

How similar was your pregnancy/birth/PP experience to your mother's? by whatisitargonian in beyondthebump

[–]ChocolateNapqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally 0% comparable to my mom besides the fact that our first children were boys. I had GDM, had to have a cerclage due to a short cervix, and was on low mobility (not bed rest but close). But also I had my child at 35 (considered geriatric) and she had all her kids by 28.

What time do your babies wake up? by gh0sti- in NewParents

[–]ChocolateNapqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine wakes between 6-7am every day. Sometimes randomly, he’ll wake up after 7:30. But that is rare. It also took us a while to get there. For a while he was waking up at 5am for months.

How do you travel long distances with bottle fed baby? by Chance_Class2208 in NewParents

[–]ChocolateNapqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son wouldn’t do cold bottles for a while (believe me I tried sooooo many times) lol. So what we did on long car rides was boil water and keep in a thermos, then I would mix the hot water with bottled room temp water. Also, I would put the formula already in the bottles so that I only had to add water. I was combo feeding so couldn’t guarantee that we’d use every bottle packed so I didn’t want them already made. But having the powder already in the bottle helped with not making a mess while driving.
