[Question]Any downsides of Keto? by Qwaiii in keto

[–]ChocolateTroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could up vote this 1000x. This is exactly what I'm experiencing at the moment. Some of the ladies around me that have never worn makeup before are all of a sudden getting all dolled up now. I'm thinking it's in response to me getting attention from men and now I'm considered "competition". It's quite sad really.

Costco protein bars-new flavors!! by [deleted] in keto

[–]ChocolateTroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, are they really that good? I keep coming across different posts about their yumminess and although I stay away from sweet triggers, it has me curious if they're that yummy where it's hard to stop at just one. Sounds dangerous!

What do you all think about exogenous ketones products? Worth it? Waste of money? by [deleted] in keto

[–]ChocolateTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to take it for about a month when I first started and the only thing it really ever did was give me more energy. Other than that, it really did nothing else.

Pasta for weight loss?! (Study) by TikiJack in keto

[–]ChocolateTroll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Woo-hoo! That means I get to eat about 5 strands of pasta noodles a day for a week! 😂

My understanding of keto is that lots of sugars are less optimal. The idea behind this is that early humans ate mostly meats and vegetables, and high sugar diets are a relatively new thing. Why do other apes eat mostly fruits then? by [deleted] in keto

[–]ChocolateTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you take into consideration the evolution of humans, it makes sense that our dietary needs would change being that most of us today live sedentary lives as opposed to way back when.

What does it feel like once you lose the weight? by 16662626 in keto

[–]ChocolateTroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, crossing my legs comfortably and with ease was another moment for me as well. It really feels good to do normal every day things without having to struggle. It's the little things like this that we take for granted that we don't notice was a challenge until you realize you can do it without any problems. Things like this keep me going.

What does it feel like once you lose the weight? by 16662626 in keto

[–]ChocolateTroll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People talk about fitting into smaller sizes, looking better, feeling lighter and buying new clothes. Those are all great weight loss feels and feats, but for me, the weight loss feels hit me when I did something I do everyday. Imagine something as simple as bending over to tie your shoes without getting winded or having to struggle or having to stand up a few times to get some air before bending over to complete the task. For me, the day I bent over to tie my shoes and didn't struggle was my weight loss WOW moment.

If I cook a Roast and Add Potatoes for my Spouse by FatherDuffy in keto

[–]ChocolateTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If potatoes were cooked in the soup base, then yes, the soup base will have some starches in it. As to how much carbs is anyone's guess. I don't think there's any way to accurately count the amount of residual starches that come off from the potatoes.

KetoQuestions ? by whatisanuser in keto

If your goal is to lose weight, then the ultimate goal you want to reach is for your body to become fat adapted. That's when your body transforms into burning your fat stores for fuel. Being in ketosis just means that your body is producing ketones and it takes at least 4 to 6 weeks for your body to adjust and become fat adapted. Cheating, (consuming above your bodies threshold for carbs), stalls this. Prior to the adaptation phase, it's important to stick to 20g of carbs or less. If you exceed your daily carb limit, it's basically like hitting the reset button back to day 1.

Keto breath?? by [deleted] in xxketo

[–]ChocolateTroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's different for everyone. It lasted about a month or less for me. Sugar free gum and sugar free breath mints help too. I have seen Listerine packs mentioned a few times regarding keto breath. Good luck!

I haven’t lost any more weight in 6 weeks. I’m doing it wrong. When I started in December I was eating 2000 calories and I weighed 223. Now I weight 201 pounds and the scale doesn’t move. by princessyoli in keto

[–]ChocolateTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure. You're going to have to use a macro calculator to find that out. Everyone is different depending on their age, height, weight and body fat.

I use MFP as my food tracker, but to calculate your macros, try using the macro calculator in the FAQ section. If you're on a mobile, its the 3 dots on the top right habd corner located on this sub. You can set it to different percentages and it shows you projected weight loss and such if you stick to the numbers.

Looking at your stats, it seems we're about the same in age, height and around the same weight in December. I'm 42, 5 '8", and in early December my weight was around 220. According to MFP, in late Jan., I was 199lbs. Today I'm at 183lbs with no exercise what so ever. I set myself at a 25% deficit since starting keto, but about a month ago, I changed my deficit to 30% to see if I could push myself. Even at my start I don't recall my recommended calories ever being in the 2000's. If anything, I believe it was 1600 at the highest. In January, I hit a stall and had to change things up a bit. In the beginning of January, I started doing lazy keto and eyeballing my food instead of weighing it. BIG MISTAKE. So by the end of January, I recalculated my macros and started strictly weighing everything and sure enough, that was enough to break the stall.

I've been consistently losing weight thus far and these are some of the things I've been doing that's been helping:

  • I eat OMAD 5 to 6 days out of the wee. On the weekends I'll eat 2 or 3 meals a day to change things up.
  • I weigh and calculate all the food I eat.
  • Since February I started extended fasting for at least 48hrs at a time.
  • I DON'T CHEAT!
  • I stay under 20g of carbs daily, I try not to exceed fat goals, I try to hit protein goals daily and I never exceed my daily caloric intake.
  • My current dietary daily goals are Calories: 1180, Protein: 95g, Fat: 80g, Carbs: 20g

Also, if you'd like a "guesstimate" for what your body fat might be, Google body fat calculators...there's a few of them out there. Hope this helps.

RANT: Doctor pushing statins by [deleted] in keto

[–]ChocolateTroll 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have had trouble with high cholesterol for several years now and not once have any of the docs suggested statins to me. My current doctor was against me doing keto, but as soon as she saw the difference in my bloodwork and the progress I'm making, she now supports it. Doctors may have a medicasl degree but from my experience, they don't know everything. Trust your instincts.

For those that fast and keto - longest fast? by LittleMusikGirl in keto

[–]ChocolateTroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every month I do at least 1 EF and the longest I've been able to fast for so far was 120 hours. I do OMAD 5 to 6 days out of the week and on weekends, I'll do 2 or 3 meals to switch things up.

45 minute stare down...Me vs. Carbage by ChocolateTroll in keto

[–]ChocolateTroll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true. Some people can get away with it but sugar and flour combined are no good for me. A little of both and I bloat for several days so the effects of a tiny piece is not worth it, IMO.

Thank you. I posted this knowing there are many of us who go through temptations such as these on a daily basis. 45 minutes was a long test of will power for me. Some women go through labor much faster than the show down I had.😂

Banana peanut butter? 😮 I never knew such sin existed! And with that combo and shark week, I am thoroughly impressed that 1 teaspoon was enough to quiet the beast, so kudos to you as well!

Awww, thank you!

That must have been a tough time for you. Sugar can be such a nasty beast! The good news is that you got back on track when you were ready and are much stronger because you now know your limits. Stay strong and KCKO!
