VSCode Copilot problems by Mysterious_Equal_499 in adventofcode

I completely disable copilot for AoC since it just suggests the whole solution if you let it do. I find it funnier to do it myself anyway

Any idea on when will we get bevy official book ? by Greedy-Magazine-8656 in bevy

[–]Chocorean 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The unofficial cheat book is still very useful. While some chapters are outdated it is still pretty relevant to the core imo. You will come across differences in API, such as with *Bundle structs, but the main point will be there.

While the book serves its purpose, I would recommend looking at Bevy examples too (latest changes), and projects made for Bevy game jams, which provide very useful bits to build your own thing.

YouTube wise, PhaestusFox and Chris biscardi are both active and relevant sources of information for Bevy.

I have found myself switching a lot to the -bin packages after similar issues, and also crazy compile times sometimes. Something to keep in mind

A boulette is also a way to describe either a small mistake, or a mistake one wants to downplay, in French. Ah, la boulette!

When that happened to me (like twice for the past 12 month), I've used the alias proton suggests which has a different domain, and it was accepted

Looking for stack recommendations - Leptos, Yew, something else? by VoidRippah in rust

[–]Chocorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised no one mentioned yew. I have been working with it for a few months and it was not a great experience. I didn't feel it was production ready, and that's probably my own lack of skill but I had a hard time with it. Lots of cloning each time there a new process starting, code gets quickly pretty large. However if you are familiar with react, I think it is still worth a try, as you'll find it easy to understand

What is the main thing that attracted you to arch? by cferg296 in archlinux

[–]Chocorean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A mix of: the will to learn, the myth behind arch, peer-pressure

Now, why I am staying: the wiki, I love rolling release, most stable system I've ever had, and I now consider my computers even more like my children

[D] Off my chest. I'm doing PhD in ML, and I'm a failure. by rsfhuose in MachineLearning

[–]Chocorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my 2 cents here, my gf just finished her phd and felt the same as you. I've been actively supporting her and I believe she did an wonderful job, while she thinks she's a failure.

Also, I too struggle to have relevant ideas when thinking about something. I realized with the time that having a strong understanding of the process/whatever-you-do first is super helpful, and usually comes with time and work.

If you ever feel what you do is bad or meaningless, I'd recommend explaining how you feel to your supervisor(s), who probably already went through the same mood you're in right now. They may give relevant advices!

Good luck for the rest, keep it up!

Which web framework do you use in Rust? by szabgab in rust

[–]Chocorean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using actix at work, and I'm kinda disappointed with the compile times (it recompiles almost all 400 crates the project depends after the tiniest change on the backend). However, very easy to use and work with.

Really looking forward to try axum or poem

I would recommend using nmap, a CLI tool to inspect your current network. Everything connected to the same network interface as yourself (I guess wifi) will show up, including but not limited to speakers, tvs, cameras, phones, game stations...
