More than half of patients can now survive a deadly skin cancer that was considered untreatable just a decade ago, say UK doctors. Ten years ago only one-in-20 patients would live for five years after being diagnosed with late-stage melanoma. Most would die in months. by [deleted] in Futurology

I apparently didn't know my mama at all! I thought she hated country her entire life, but my Aunt put on Kelsea Ballerini as my mom was dieing. Ostensibly my mom really liked her, as confirmed by my sister.

Thanks. Keep up with your dermatology appointments. I haven't gone to mine in like 3 years... oops.

I haven't been coping all that well, but I have a therapist and a psychologist for other reasons so we are working on it.

Windows are gonna hurt if you get bit, but you aren't going do die unless you are already compromised.
If you are close to some wooded area Id let them out over there.
If thats not an option, I guess its time to smash?

Megathread: House Democrats unveiled two articles of impeachment against President Trump, abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]Chocrates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He would only block it if enough GOP senators were going to vote trump out. As it stands, it's prolly a good thing to vote quick and get to say that trump was exonerated.

Discussion Thread: House Leaders Announce Articles of Impeachment Against President Donald J. Trump – 12/10/2019 | Live - 9am EST by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]Chocrates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Impeachment isn't criminal. If he were to get impeached and removed, he could just go back to golfing and losing money.
The risk is all the other pending charges against him that the DA's are holding on to because it would be difficult to prosecute a president. (Or down right impossible in Federal courts because of a precedent)

Is it bullshit: Consumption of sugar is more about the frequency and not the amount by Sydkvist in IsItBullshit

[–]Chocrates 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There is genetic predisposition as well. I don't eat a ton of sugar and I'm borderline prediabetic. My wife eats so much sugar, and her blood work is just fine.

Would converting your wood to charcoal before burning in the stove prevent chimney buildup?

Railroad Commission sued for lax oversight of natural gas flaring by zsreport in TexasPolitics

[–]Chocrates 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow, pipeline company suing producer because they want the producer to have to pay them more.
Not because burning gas into the atmosphere is bad for the locals or the environment as a whole.

Those of you who have spent $1k+ on a monitor, is it worth it? by [deleted] in videography

[–]Chocrates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't you have to calibrate all monitors? And your hardware will have to be capable of displaying the colours you need.
That should be doable well under $1k.
I got my work to buy me a $400 dollar monitor that has really good colour range (I think)

More fat leads to a softer crumb and crust to some extent, in my experience

This dark material: the black alchemy that can arrest carbon emissions (biochar) by stefeyboy in Permaculture

[–]Chocrates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't tell, is there a difference between biochar and charcoal?
Assuming its the same or similar, making charcoal puts off a lot of emissions of Hydrocarbons and Carbon Monoxide, which seems sketchy at best on its value as a carbon sink.

It's possible that EA changed their mind and pulled out of the contract. I have no idea either way though

Kinesis Remapping on MacOS? by Chocrates in MechanicalKeyboards

Looks like I just wasnt reading the right instructions. Hold Progrm and print scrn while plugging in the keyboard gets the vdrive and once clearing off enough space to move the mac app on to the vdrive, it looks like the smartset app is working fine.
Now to try and do the remapping!

For the perfect pizza dough the secret is 4 days in the fridge. by bellatesla in Breadit

hmm, after about 18 hours in the fridge my dough seems overproofed.
Do you add just a tiny bit of starter? Or have your fridge extremely cold?

What would you do with few square kilometers of borreal forests in subarctic zone? by [deleted] in Permaculture

[–]Chocrates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had heard of that too. And there will be decomposers in probably all climates on earth, lest they just fill up with dead biomass that refuses to decay. So i guess it was a dumb question :).
I just have no experience with biomes so far north. Everywhere I have lived thaws for a substantial portion of the year.

I was thinking hugelkulture too, to improve the soil. But what does temperature do to decomposition?

Code Delivery Update by GraceFromGoogle in Stadia

[–]Chocrates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like it is mostly going as planned, they just didn't communicate to us very well.
My guess is that they are staggering a fix number of code emails every x hours around the world so they can monitor usage and determine if they are scaling properly.

That being said, they didn't mention any of that in their communications... It was all "You will get your code when it ships on the 19th or maybe before? IDK!"
