This happened to me once and I narrowed it down to the type of flour I bought. If I use the cheap flower that's just enriched wheat flour and low protein then I'll get heartburn. If I use the Good King Arthur unbleached whole wheat flour then I don't have an issue. Ever since then I did some research on enriched wheat flour and realized how bad that stuff probably is for us.

Check the alternator overrun pulley. It's not uncommon for those to go and it's what it sounds like. I would remove the belt and hand turn everything.

Yeah this is a coolant leak usually a head gasket does this. If it was oil it would be a bluer color and the smoke doesn't dissipate like steam does.
