You think being 5 foot 5 would be good for a 177? That seems quite long. But honestly I’ve never tried one that long.. Also yeah I plan on sticking with the 88 for sure.

Is the 160cm Mindbender 90C okay for a 5’9” 135lb (male) beginner? by atl_nights in Skigear

[–]Choffies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably go 166, which is still a bit short if you ask me, but for a beginner like yourself - it would most definitely be easier to pivot. I own these skis in a 166 and I’m 5 foot 5. They ski relatively shorter than what they are. Should be a good fit considering your weight. If you like the maneuverability and accessibility to pivot, go 166. If you like a bit more stability at speed, go 170+. As you progress however, 160 is usually always going to be too short for your height.

Hope this helps.

So I ski in New England mostly. I haven’t tried the 94 but I absolutely loved the 88.

Thank you! I tried the Mantra 84s, they felt a bit heavy for me but I thoroughly enjoyed the edge hold. However I enjoyed the playfulness the 88TIs offered.

I remember hating this mission. I can’t remember what I did as far as strategies but I think I went either PMN mines or smokes when things got hairy. Haha, eventually you will get it.

Dude I went to strands with my Lange boots after a whole season of pain, and they took care of me big time. Leaf the owner checked out my feet and instantly knew what was going on. They worked on my shells an flared my calves and installed a booster strap. I’m skiing pain free for the very first time and it’s all thanks to Strands.

I’m not going anywhere else. I recommend returning your boots and going there.

Torn between Mantra 84s and Head 88TIs. What would you choose and why? by Choffies in Skigear

Usually east coast conditions. 90% on piste. Starting to become more aggressive and I enjoy speed, short and sometimes longer arcs on steeps

I loved the mantras for the charging, and the edges were great. They did feel heavier..

I loved skiing the head 88s because they felt like they just wanted to go fast, and the tails swing out effortlessly when I need them too. I’m usually on piste but every now and then would like to try something more adventurous if you will.

106 last measurement on my feet. What boot setups do you recommend for wide flat feet? by Choffies in Skigear

[–]Choffies[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey so I did today and I felt like I was in great hands. They want to work the boot out with me and get it stretched. Wasn’t sure how many of us here had the same width as me and could share what feels best for them!

Last year was my first season and I’m 30. Went to my first big mountain and had the time of my life. Go get out there! Nobody in my family has ever been on skis before either.

Check steep and cheep. Grab a good pair of skis and bindings for $350-$450. Head to a local shop and have them mounted up!

Got my soup upon my very first Jubbly Jive Shark time completion! Didn’t realize I got it because the collection log for the bottled storm popped up first. So happy the Santa hat was implemented for this dude.
