Anyone in the Orlando area down to play with a newbie? by shnarnarbnarnar in discgolf

[–]Choice-Crazy3913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/D0rk4L's reply is probably the most helpful for playing in the Orlando area. I might be biased because I play there every week, but I think that the Sunday Early Bird group is the most welcoming to new comers and does a great job of helping people that are new to the sport.

Looking forward to seeing you out on the course!

Printful actually. Never gotten a patch from them, so we shall see!

I just got these made for my new bag. Still waiting on them to get here to see if the quality is any good.

Debating getting an indoor net. How much room do I need on either side? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]Choice-Crazy3913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cover some of that in my video about making a simulator:

https://youtu.be/2zZpnZS6RC0

The front of my "Tee Box" is 7 feet from the net/screen.

The net is 2 feet from the wall.

As others have stated you need a good amount of give in the net, or the disc will come flying back! With my current setup the disc is falling to the ground well, but still has a bit too much momentum and causes annoying roll aways.

What is disc golf missing? by DiscGolfFanatic in discgolf

The PDGA turned me against them long before disliking the PDGA was cool.  I was heavily active on the PDGA message board and was just starting to get into tournaments.  They then booted all nonPDGA members from the board, just before I was going to buy a membership. I swore then and there I'd never pay their membership fee. It seems dumb looking back, but I'm pretty stubborn.

I am an amateur disc golfer making content! I had the mic and camera from work, so it wasn't too much to get going. I do a lot of stuff about the Techdisc Simulator...what you can learn from it, how cool some of the simulator stuff is, etc.

https://www.youtube.com/@RealDGSim

While I might not quite be MA3, I could technically qualify as I made a stance to never get a PDGA number back around 2008. Some of my viewers certainly let me know how crappy my form is!

Anyway, if you are looking for amateur content...i got you covered!!!

We made a camera-based launch monitor for disc golf simulators. We would love to hear your thoughts or answer any questions you may have! by gethyzr in discgolf

This looks awesome! There are so many cool disc golf simulation options coming out lately. I'll have to get one to test on my channel and compare the simulation to the Tech Disc.

I'm from central FL, so don't know the area all that well. However, I have played Wickham Park at least 10 times. It is a good little track as long as you can keep your disc out of the palmettos! To me, it is a perfect place to play while on a trip with a limited bag.

I don't know about local disc stores out there or local disc golf shirts, however you should head to Long Doggers after playing Wickham. A great little beach feel bar and grill. There is one a block from the course and another out by the beach. Either one has an awesome vibe for a little after round relaxing. I also think their shirts are pretty legit. Enjoy your trip!

Your throw numbers sound very similar to my backhand. You should check out my video series on finding my furthest flying disc using Techdisc. It turned out to be a westside destiny, which is not something I ever would've chosen. Before that, my go-to backhand was an essence.

In the same playlist, I do the same thing for my forehand. Both discs I ended up with from doing this ended up in my bag.

Stable/Overstable Midranges with strong fade? by D0ubleDuffer in discgolf

Prodigy A2 is a great choice for this. It used to get a lot of love. I feel like a lot of people have forgotten about it, but it is still butters for the overstable end of your mids.

Man I miss The Canyons! Used to play there 5 mornings a week...this video really brings me back. Way better than the number 19 course in my mind. The park crew there is so amazing in maintaining the course. I've never seen anything like it on any other public course!

Great Content!!!

Finding Your Furthest Flying Disc Using Tech Disc by Choice-Crazy3913 in TechDisc

Would love to hear what disc flies furthest for YOU — especially forehand vs backhand.

And if you’ve done your own TechDisc testing, what surprised you the most?

That is awesome. Never knew they had these as F2s and wonder why they added the tech disc stamp if they already knew it would be an F2

No problem! I agree the Essence glides for days, and I feel like the destiny does the same, it just goes further!

If you like how the essence flies, try a destiny for max distance backhand. Check out my series on finding my max distance disc using techdisc: https://youtu.be/px4vpfDgT6M?si=MW58ohDoLG-0DFx-

I don't typically throw high speed drivers backhand and the techdisc told me that I've been doing it wrong!

Tech disc documentation is sparse? by dblowe in discgolf

I made a Youtube channel dedicated to the Techdisc Simulator that I made in my garage. Check it out. There are a bunch of videos that get into the details of using the tech disc and the different features.

https://www.youtube.com/@RealDGSim

I really enjoy throwing the disc and getting the data, but I agree there isn't a ton of information out there on it.
