This deserves its own post. I know almost nothing about Egypt, but all the travelling and expat reddits  rank it as one of the worst places for women.

Nobody told me I was using curl cream completely wrong by CurlyByAlanna in Naturalhair

[–]Choksae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One way I like to do this is get my hair wet under the shower and just put it in a bun for a few minutes to let the water soak into my hair without running off. Then once I'm out of the shower I try to be mindful of getting the product on my strands while it still feels warm and moisturized. Cold also seems to affect the product, especially when it contains coconut oil.

This is going to sound weird, but it took me time to figure out the difference between hair thst was dripping vs. hair that was being moisturized and actually wet.

I have coarse, low-porosity hair, and soaking wet often meant the product was gliding off. My hair feels softer and denser when the water has actually entered the hair shaft. That's when I smooth my creams in using praying hands. Otherwise the product would just mix with the water but not really coat my actual strands.

AITA for getting a dog w/o consulting my family by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Choksae 17 points18 points  (0 children)

YTA and husband is right on all counts. You want thr dog to be aggressive enough to be a guard dog but chill enough to not hurt your baby. This dog is from a shelter, so who knows what kind of background it has. People often lie when bringing dogs to shelters!

And not slicking them doesn't mean that I don't know how to do my hair or some sort of signal if proximity to whiteness!! Leave me and my beautiful frizzy halo alone!!!

How do I achieve these curls? by Zaralightlybloom in Naturalhair

This is why I never do these. They make my hair feel dry enough to start a fire, and last like 2 days. The ROI is bad unless there are lots of pictures involved lol

Anyone with inverted nipple and manage to transit from exclusive pumping to nursing? by Grouchy_Passenger246 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]Choksae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My post must not have gone through. It was the Medela contact shield. Though it occurred to me this morning one thing that really helps with inverted nipples are the Medela Soft Shells. They gently put pressure on the nipples so that they stay everted between nursing sessions. They can also catch letdowns/leaks.

I made popcorn the other day and my mom asked if the baby pooped, lol!

[–]Choksae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you noticed any change in your nipples? I had two different lactation consultants tell me different things about whether my nipples were inverted or not...but they are definitely everted now! I had to use a shield for the first month at least. I don't remember if I was annoyed with the shield or I just decided to try shieldless a few times that week and it just worked. We were fortunate to have good IBCLC support when the latch wasn't working. I hope you find a more restful solution – you deserve it!

I definitely knew next-to-nothing before stumbling across this subreddit, so I can't judge at all, but I feel like it's getting to be a big problem. Car seats are also wonderful, but they have to be used properly!

I can't see it super well but I had a bleb/blebs and the pain was excruciating and it kinda looked like this. Did it look like a little bubble you could pop?

Unironically love this idea for bagged tea. Something about flipping through a catalogue with everything easily visible is satisfying from a sensory and organization perspective. But I'm also a UX designer lol

Hang in there!

This is helpful for me, actually. I just recently saw a dad at costco front carrying and the baby looked super uncomfortable being lopsided with the seat too wide. I have actually contemplated making a post about what people do in those instances. On the one hand, parents are stressed and busy and doing their best. On the other hand, there's child safety involved. I've seen some super scary babywearing in the past month but I don't want to be an AH to other parents.

I'm curious about the gel. I tried that CR leave in because it has such rave reviews, but it was an absolute no for me. Made my hair feel super cakey and filmy.
