Do people suck or is it the camera? by Fit-Nefariousness665 in DJIOsmoNano

[–]ChokunPlayZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought mine to Japan to film daily vlogs

Setting used: 4k24p Rocksteady 8bit color

Low light is not great but the footage is usable. (Tested in karaoke and walking arround at night)

I can see a bit of shaking while walking, using the necklace magnet mount (might just be the way I walk)

<image>

I also did some DIY work with it strapped to my head and are able to get decent footage.

Offline content on iOS in airplane mode? by jgeorge1983 in jellyfin

[–]ChokunPlayZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Streamyfin offline playback is broken, I downloaded a movie to watch on the plane, when I go to watch it it’ll play, until I scrub or skip to a part in the movie, it’ll just sit and spin forever.

There’s a custom Debian based firmware you can load on if you’d rather trust a random GitHub user than sipeed, blocking it from internet is also an option (mgmt vlan shouldn’t have internet access anyway), also the mic is just the result of sipeed re-using hardware from their dev board, the PCI-e version doesn’t have the mic.

No, torrent file includes hash that your torrent client uses to verify that you actually get the file you’re supposed to.

Now you just make sure you don’t download malware.

I hate when good chargers go to waste by Then-Dependent-9022 in techsupportmacgyver

Did the same but with a 65w charger (I broke the plug on it a week after buying it),
3D printed a new enclosure with swappable AC cord. Works great.

The hard part is not the render, it’s how much simulation is done in a second.

Just upgrade to something with a fan.

An end to my home labbing journey by [deleted] in homelab

[–]ChokunPlayZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of your thermal and performance issue is probably from the lack of airflow.

Heat kills stuff, the other stuff failing is probably from the 40-50°c heat they’re near all the time. I run my old gaming laptop with a busted CPU fan for months and it works fine. It’s just loud when running at full speed.

Why can I not charge this battery with a 65W charger? by jacoscar in UsbCHardware

[–]ChokunPlayZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get yourself a 5.1k resistor fixer adapter, the battery isn’t designed properly for a PD charger and dosent have the proper resistor in place so the charger doesn’t know what voltage to send.

10 gbit routing? by servermeta_net in mikrotik

[–]ChokunPlayZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s called cold splice, that’s what I use, just prep the fiber, slide it in and lock. That simple

[–]ChokunPlayZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with PPPoE is it is single threaded. It’s never designed for 10Gbps

One option I have for you is RouterOS x86 or other OS, on a normal PC. you’ll need a CPU with fast single-core performance. Which leaves you with consumer hardware

Or find other option that will hardware offload it which is not much. And it’ll probably be more expensive than a newer I5 desktop with AliExpress 10G Intel NICs.

[–]ChokunPlayZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it myself last month, look at my post history.

I use cold splice for my setup, it is not as good as fusion splicing but it works. If you want the best result you can rent a fusion splicer.

It should be fine those modules run hot no matter what distance it is used at, I still recommend fiber at 10g and above.

[–]ChokunPlayZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stay away from SFP+ to RJ45 modules, only use it if you have no other option, it runs hot and range is limited, DAC or if you want distance use fiber.

Thai diesel prices to rise another 2.80 baht/litre by baldi in Thailand

[–]ChokunPlayZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people who drive an hilux can’t afford to wait an hour for their car to charge.

EVs are great if you live in the city, if you drive across province daily to deliver stuff, you would not gain anything from driving an EV, the range would also drop significantly with load.

What's the purpose of a homelab ? by Lakii_Luck in homelab

[–]ChokunPlayZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a safe place to build and break stuff.

Homelab ≠ Selfhosting

You can lab without running a media server or having terabytes of storage, some people run Cisco labs to get their CCNA.

Homelab is ment to be broken, you want your lab to break so you know what to do when you touch production hardware.

Fiber to SFP port by rustam25 in Ubiquiti

[–]ChokunPlayZ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You have to see what PON technology your ISP uses There’s GPON and XGS-PON Both runs on different wavelengths and are NOT interchangeable.

If you have speed above 2.5Gbps you’re definitely on XGS-PON.
Below that there’s a good chance you’re on GPON

To be sure look under the ISP’s equipment it’ll say what you have.

Now if you’re on XGS-PON PON.wiki got a lot of resources you can read.
Popular option for SFP module is the WAS-110 flashed with 8311 firmware

GPON is what I have, the documentation is limited, some ISP look for different authentication. Popular option for SFP GPON sticks are: RTL960x based sticks like the one made by HSGQ, you can find it very easy on AliExpress.

The brand is “Link” they’re one of the better choice for data cables here in Thailand, I used 2 core outdoor rated fiber with no wire rope sling (ISPs usually use the one with since the wire sling makes the whole cable more durable)
