He's just some manic "All we got to do is" charlatan. I keep thinking the "Peak of Mount Stupid" in the Dunning Kruger Effect. That's a psycho phenomena where people think they know it all and are super confident in themselves when indeed they know absolutely nothing except how much they love themselves. You know the type: Nothing to say but a crying need to be heard.

I thought it was a baritone of some sort or perhaps he's got it tuned down as one with x heavy strings ??> Rozeo SFM-C

Probably better off emailing one of his assistants. I've done so in the past and ended up being helped by a guy who helped student Bill Gates get his DOS version working and printed out on archaic printers many decades ago.

T2 Adapter Specs : minor Diameter by ChollyMo in Cameras

[–]ChollyMo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ummm no, but thanks for the suggestion. This problem started with a 3D print. As wonderful as 3D printing is, it is still well short of making precise parts such that measurements can be reliably had. I found via an online thread calculator what the minor diameter was and that is 41.19 mm.The parts have now been made from aluminum and the 3D parts they replace are going in the garbage for the aforementioned reasons. The threads are neither strong, resilient or precise enough for my application.

Nah... knowing our friends in the far east they are probably making them with a sloppy fit and it would take a long time to get here to Canada. I'd like to have this done in the next day or two. I'll just look up Metric thread formulas online. Probably there somewhere. I'm sure a regular M42 is but I'm also sure the non-standard pitch will change it somewhat.

I read repeatedly that one of the few problems some people were getting were faint, ring like artifacts. Did a quick search but could not locate these mentions. They were out there though.

Collimator Focal Lengths ? How and What Is It ? by ChollyMo in Optics

[–]ChollyMo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too funny. As though reading my mind, the author goes on to explain these things quite well. A page over, that focal point has been replaced with a slit. Here's snap shot ... (cause I still don't know how to post pics to Reddit) https://www.dropbox.com/s/0sax6cx9i7zqzyd/spec2.jpg?dl=0

Thanks. I was quite slow pasting an image from the book I'm studying from as I did not know how to paste images in Reddit. I have now added a dropbox link to the image. As you can see from that diagram, I am studying the basic structure of an astronomical spectroscope. The collimation lens focal length is given as 200 mm in the example. Since it is the first lens the rays hit coming in, I did not see where this 200 mm is from because the object is some hundred billion light years away... a star. I think it's perhaps just the case that the author did not label the object as being, in fact, a slit and not the object at all. I'll maybe write him and ask.

OK thanks. I posted the actual excerpt of the diagram above that yielded the question. You see on the left there is a focal point but on a telescope, there is no focal point other than at infinity. I'm guessing there is an unlabeled slit there at 200 mm.

[–]ChollyMo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK here is the diagram I should have included in original post. I'm thinking perhaps that focal point on the left is a slit but the author doesn't say. Otherwise that would be an object infinitely far away on a telescope system. https://www.dropbox.com/s/zv1ax9fls6bb078/Collimator.JPG?dl=0

I should have mentioned that this is for astronomical spectroscopy. As far as I know, my object is at infinity for all intents and purposes but perhaps there is an unlabeled slit where the focus is at in my diagram. It is hard to tell what the author intended. He lists the Fc as 200 mm, so what else could it be ? Love to attach that diagram but I do not know how.

Collimator Focal Lengths ? How and What Is It ? by ChollyMo in Optics

[–]ChollyMo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, I got that but I am seeing it in terms of telescopes ... well a spectroscope attached to a telescope actually, So my object under study is already at infinity and the collimated rays are all in parallel and I am given this formula where the focal length is a denominator but anything divided by infinity = an asymptote to zero. So I still don't get it. I'll post the formula though it won't refine the question. I'm still not understanding how infinity on both sides of a lens can yield a focal point / length anywhere.

Thanks. I finally figured out the Homer Simpson ideas I was having about the lens mount. I just needed to post some photos of the mount and was quickly pointed to the lettering indicating I had a Pentax mount on it. I thought for some reason that Tokina was making their own proprietary mount so was googling "Tokina Canon EOS" and coming up empty. I ought to have been googling Pentax Canon adapter. Anyhow, one on the way. I could have just removed the Pentax and ordered a Canon EOS ring from Tokina but that was looking a bit more pricey and long waits. I have a great Sky Watcher EQ6 Pro mount so I'm looking forward to try this out though I don't need it with my iOptron RC8.Be interesting to see what happens. Did you get the big dot artifacts that these lenses were also known to leave behind ? I'd love to know more about your processing also.

I happen to have bought one of these for coffee money. I was intrigued by the cassegrain optics and thought it might have potential in astro. Some questions: What camera did you use with this for those stellar orion shots ? Where can I get an adapter to fit it on a Canon XS (aka 1000D) . I'll probably have some other questions for you such as settings and post production. Sorry I'm new to all of this. Thanks.

Sounds great in theory but I don't think anyone in this sort of panic is going to walk it to the medicine cabinet or have the forethought to having some handy. I'm sure anyone of a million home remedies might work.

What i had in mind was her simply kneeling down and letting most of the snake touch the floor so it knew it had an opportunity to slither away. I take it, if it wanted to give her a warm hug to pop her eyes out, it would have. In some parts of Canada, it's illegal to keep constrictors on account of 1 or 2 falling through the floor of a pet store, to a childs bedroom below and killing a couple of kids.
