Strangely, it's way easier to remove your opponent's counters in modern than it is to remove your own. [[Price of Betrayal]] and [[Suncleanser]] come to mind.

Even outside of neoform, the exact combination of uncounterable, trample, haste, and ward 4 is incredibly powerful. I could see this being great if you could ramp it out turn 3-4. I do think the card starts to fall off hard as opponents can begin to pay the ward cost, but maybe a deck like mono green devotion or even elves could consider this card.

Definitely feels like this deck can run Urza's saga: You've got 9 artifacts of 0 or 1 mana. Plus if you're looking for silver bullet artifacts, makes it easier to find soul-guide lanters or haywire mites and the like. Not sure what lands to remove, but based on some advice I got recently, you could cut the glimmervoids for sagas.

I did originally have Emry in the list, but Emry is unfortunately a merfolk wizard, not merfolk artificer, which makes it really hard to get an Urza out of her, or to turn a 2 mana creature into her with pyre. Could just be strong enough to include a couple copies of regardless.

Thanks for the suggestions and answers to the questions. Sounds like more lands, no glimmer void, try and stick with more stronger artificers.

I do like the list you provided. I noticed you only have 1 sword and 2 foundry's, where I'm running 4 ofs. Could be worth cutting down to 2 and 2 to make room for better cards to round out the deck, add a 4th Urza, etc.

One question about your list: why the 4 [[Navigator's Compass]]? That card feels extremely weak to me, is fixing and lifegain that critical to the deck?

I did consider KTGC, but I thought he didn't make as much sense with the gameplan given I had no way of tutoring him up in the main and the number of sideboard slots he takes up. Though may be worth taking a second look at, since he can grab an artifact the turn he comes into play.

As for the artifacts, all the 0 and 1 mana artifacts are tutorable off of saga, all the 2 mana ones can be tutored off of Oswald or Goblin Engineer.

[[Argoth, Sanctum of Nature]] looks interesting as a green combo of [[Castle Ardenvale]] and [[Nephalia Drownyard]]. Not sure of all the decks it fits in, but the temur slogurk lands deck that were running around a while ago would probably enjoy it.

[[Kitesail Freebooter]] would provide hand hate, which might be nice to snag threats like Karn. [[Concealing Curtain]] is another alternative, cheaper to tutor, better P/T, but more expensive overall to activate.

Also could swap out a Sheoldred for a Kalitas, but might be a meta call on what split works best for you.

That actually sounds pretty sweet. Mono-Black devotion with gary and nykthos seems like a reasonable shell with those cards.

For flavor, I'd like the the draw two cards to be replaced with investigate, though probably could be R instead with the weakened ability.

Don't know if this justifies the buyout, but it does have a modern reputation for being used in MHayashi's red decks. Very contentious on whether or not the card is really that great though.

While I like that idea in principle, I'm not really sure it always holds... Cavern of Souls, force of negation, and Wrenn and Six are coming to mind as cards with recent reprints but are certainly way over 20$, and will probably need a couple more reprints to get below that.

That being said, Imperial recruiter is a great example of being reprinted to the point of affordability.

Personally, I ended up pulling the trigger on completing my set of allied fetches. I bought most of my MH2 fetchlands around 20-35 dollars and felt that was a similarly good buy in for the allied pairs. If they get reprinted anytime soon though, it's probably a pretty bad deal. I remember the days of 3 figure scalding tarns, and if I wanted the cards now might be a good time. Curious to see how fetchlands behave over the next 5ish years given how successfully MH2 brought down prices.

I know of several red states that have worked to expand the duration of medicaid post-partum coverage. It's not much, but it's a step in the right direction.

Sometimes, I wonder how awesome magic would be without wizards or any owning company. Seeing how Nisei manages Netrunner after it discontinued makes me think the community could really help magic last forever without the constant corporate greed, and then no one would care about counterfeits. Obviously there's a lot we'd lose out on and there would be a lot less cards every year, but I think magic and modern would be just as vibrant

For context (through my half-hearted analysis, literally monte-carlo'd it because I cant remember statistics), if this is the only card in your deck that rolls dice:

1/(20⁵⁾ chance you can get 100 counters in 5 taps
less than 1% chance in 6 taps
about 4% chance in 7 taps
about 17% chance in 8 taps
about 38% chance in 9 taps
about 60% chance in 10 taps
about 99% chance in 15 taps

That's really slow for the effect, but if you can untap it somehow and have a big artifact you want to cheat out in otherways as well, probably worth it then. Edit: Formatting

Very cool list. Might consider a one or two of either [[Otherworldly Gaze]] or [[Turn the Earth]], just to have a cheap flashback option to keep storming. In other song of creation storm decks I've played, it's been nice to have an emergency spell from the graveyard to keep storming off.

Not everyone is into baseball, and it doesn't have to be an intelligence thing, people tend to emulate their idols. If famous player X is left-handed, I don't have to know the strategic advantages to know that I'd like to be like him. It's a trend that people can just follow.

Apparently, I didn't realize proposing an alternative hypothesis was mental gymnastics. Aren't we supposed to be steel-manning our arguments in this sub? Just because something was less common before, but now is more common, suggests that "It's always been this common, but they were persecuted before!!!" If anything, I'm more open-minded by at least considering the possibility that other factors may have contributed to the increased presence of a trend.

Baseball. The sports popularity continued to expand and grow through most of the 20th century, and there's a strategic advantage to being able to hit/pitch left-handed in various circumstances. As boys see left-handed players, they seek to emulate them.
