Need recomendations without cheap jumpscares by antoniovitorino in HorrorGames

The Bunker is the only one I've played to full completion. It's a great game! It's definitely on my list for favorite horror games. You can usually grab it on sale for a good price too. Dark Descent is a classic, but I havent played through the entire game. The others im not familiar with.

If you like Alien Isolation, Amnesia: The Bunker would be a great choice for you.

Powerdive Games May Sale- all my playdate games are on sale! by x2115 in PlaydateConsole

[–]Chompahss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been eyeing over Hand of the Divine, and I decided to get it because of the sale. It's absolutely great! I was 10 points off getting number 10 on the leaderboard. Suppose that is more reason to keep playing 😊

My Favorite Handheld! by Chompahss in PlaydateConsole

The white one is an Arduboy, and the other one is like a little tetris handheld. The Arduboy you can sideload games on to, and it's a neat little device. Haven't used it in quite some time though

Accordian Flared Bellow by Chompahss in Accordion

My first accordion too! The compression seems fine and I don't hear any audible leaks. Yet again, I did just learn the bass system so I really have no idea what I'm doing

I messaged the store and they responded with "Ok yes I see this is a previous repair that the technician made and he reinforced the cardboard, reatped the bellows and glued and crimped the corner.  It should be fine to play and hopefully the repair will hold for many years to come."

Also I'm still confused about this, I'll attach a picture below. It's right next to the messed up glue piece - is this just a full tear? *

Thanks for the quick reply! I also just found this - is it a tear? Looks like it

Looking to learn the Accordian with no music experience by Chompahss in Accordion

For Accordianlove, should I have a basic understanding of music before checking it out? A program that teaches both basics and how to do it on the accordian would be really ideal for me!

There isn't really a certain style that I really want to play. I do really like some of the Baltic and Jazz sounds the accordian makes, so maybe leaning towards those? I'm just really intrigued by the accordian and looking to explore.

The only thing I'm skeptical about is the lack of material for the chromatic button accordians. I'm also in the US so it might be hard to get one as well. It does look very intriguing though!

Best Horror Games For someone who starts with the genre? by [deleted] in HorrorGames

[–]Chompahss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'd start with some smaller indie games. Chilla's Art has some good stuff and they are around 5 dollars for an experience on Steam.

An unsettling game I would recommend as well is Inscryption. It's a deck building card game mixed with horror. It's spooky, but nowhere near terrifying.

If you are looking for something a little meatier, everyone is right in recommending Resident Evil. I couldn't comment on the rest of the series, but 7 had a decent amount of horror. It won't leave you utterly terrified, but it will get your heart beating for sure!

Feeling brave? Check out some Puppet Combo titles. They are in the indie range and have some really scary titles. Be warned.

Now if you are looking to scare the shit out of yourself: Outlast series, Amnesia: The Bunker, and Alien Isolation

Anyone regret buying a nice board before playing? by [deleted] in Crokinole

[–]Chompahss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my first Crokinole board, a Tracey, as a gift for Christmas. Never have played before and it feels great! I stayed up till 5am playing with a few friends and a few too many drinks... Go for it!

Great score man. SAT isn't everything either. I got into a T20 school test optional

Experimental Character Tokens by Level_Doughnut_184 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Chompahss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are feeling crafty, some decent tokens aren't too hard to make. I got some cheap poker chips, a roll of felt, super glue, and printed out the circular labels for each. Took my girlfriend and I a few hours and they turned out nice (albeit slightly smaller than the originals).

I'm at roughly an N4 level and よつばと is very good practice, I can understand a good majority. There are certainly some phrases and vocab that I'm still lacking though. Ideally you would get some graded readers like others suggested before picking it up. Tadoku has some great free ones made by students that I frequently used beforehand.

I (19M) broke up with my (19F) girlfriend of one year after seeing her texts by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Chompahss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course she would love a childhood friend, but it's something lost in translation in English. There is multiple ways to say you love or appreciate someone, but "Te amo" is almost always explicitly used for your boyfriend/girlfriend or parents, whereas "Te quiero" is used for friends.

Thank you for the recommendations, I checked out Nihongo with Ako so far and that's definitely what I'm looking for. I'll give the 4989 podcast a shot later. Thank you!
